It is important for me when people feel at home and at the same time respect the place as if it was their own place.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We never met the host personally, as he was out of town during our stay, but he was in frequent touch by phone and e-mail and answered questions promptly and helpfully. The house is a nice, old, quirky property, with lots of space and eclectic decor. The quiet, tree-shaded courtyard is a lovely place for breakfast or an evening meal. The city center of Perpignan is a 10-15 minute walk away, while bakeries, restaurants, and a grocery store are within 8-10 minutes by foot.
For physically handicapped travelers only:
We neglected to ask about this ahead of time, and it in no way reflects poorly upon the host, but it's worth keeping in mind that this Airbnb location is not very suitable for physically handicapped travelers, as sleeping, bathing, and toilet areas are located upstairs, and a portion of the staircase has no handrail.
The house is lovely and relaxing, however Nicolas hasn't proven to be the fairest of hosts. He cancelled 3 out of my 7 days reservation with 10 days notice (for a booking made 9 weeks in advance and during the overbooked week of Visa pour l'Image). Once I was there and we discussed reimbursement, he increased the daily fee claiming he had made a mistake in the pricing and that I had come with a (priorly announced) friend, while the house has a capacity of 4 and, at the time of reservation, had no fee for extra guests. So I was both inconvenienced in my travel plans...and requested to pay more for it! Other than that, Nicolas has been nice but this initial incident spoiled my experience. Make sure contractual conditions are very, very clear prior to your arrival and go through the Airbnb support system in case of changes. Also, shower and sink are located in the second bedroom, so you need to plan when to shower and brush your teeth with anyone who's sleeping in the second bedroom/bathroom...
Federica, I told you the price you got was a misprice as I forgot to change the weekly price that was way discounted from the daily price for this specific busy period of "Visa Pour l'Image"... However I was happy to keep this misprice for you as long as you were on your own as it was specified in your original booking. Since you decided to come with a friend I also believed that was fair to come back on the price too and I still offered you a discounted price compared to the daily price. Regarding the cancellation I had unfortunately to make, I gave you 10 days notice which is far enough to find another place to stay (which I have also checked availabilities for you on airbnb). Nevertheless, I have still offered you to stay in the house for a shorter period and you have accepted it. Federica, it seems you have not understood that I have tried to be as fair as possible to accommodate you although you seemed happy when we discussed all terms...
Nicolas house is lovely!! We were there like at home! Nicolas was very attentive and helpful, and his peaceful attitude is also present in his house. House is very nice and comfortable and its terrace/garden is really charming. It is an experience to repeat!!
