Description

The space

smal hilside cottage overlooking port antonio and the carribean sea ..walking distance to transportation, markets, beaches and other attractions..the cottage is 150 steps thru the jungle up a hill from the car park...comfortable walking shoes with good gripping soles are advisable.....this cottage is ideally suited for one person or a couple..some visitors take a night or two to get used to the sounds of early morning roosters and dogs, the occasional sound system..usually muted..during the day raucous parrots and woodpeckers are the main noisemakers..water is not hot unless u heat it on the stove..linens and towels supplied..internet access on roof deck..air is conditioned by fans and sea breezes..long pants and socks are advised in the early evenings..if u are allergic to insect bites,u might want to consider other options...finally,a tip on luggage..suitcases are unwieldy and impractical due to the steep terrain from carpark to cottage..backpacks are advised....because of its small size,it is ideal for a single traveler..best to arrive before dark..

This place is amazing ! The view stupending and the cottage very colored and charming. I really like the concept of the cottage in the middle of the jungle full of birds. It was a pleasure to let our signature by painting the walls. The kids love it. There are a lot of insects and nature noises but it was music for my ears. Good place for good vibes ! Enjoy your staying

We stayed at the coconut Cottage, which is halfway up the hill and next to Michaels place. The Cottage was clean, cozy and offered good Moskito protection. From the Rooftop-terrace you've got an beatiful view over port Antonio. Michael is a very friendly and helpful host. The stairs up the hill can be quite breathtaking (My BF is a smoker^^) but we still totally recommend this Cottage. :) PS: The Pictures are quite old. The room Looks even better now. There is a Gas cooker in the room.

Michael has been very helpful with local tips, and arranging a taxi for us to catch the early morning Knutsford bus. His cottage is very basic and rustic (ie. no hot water), like most local accommodations in Jamaica. It has a nice sweeping view of Port Antonio, and we really enjoyed the natural setting. Location-wise it is not easy to find and there are quite a bit of stairs for luggage, but the directions are adequate. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay!

This was probably one of the most memorable trips I've ever been on. I'm not one for roughing it but staying at michaels place was such an amazing experience. The trek up the stairs became manageable after the first few times and once you see the view from the top you kick yourself for complaining in the first place. The room had the essentials needed and nothing more. The cold showers became much appreciated as our days became more activity filled. Michael was super helpful, taught us how to play dominos, and introduced us to someone living at mango ridge who showed us parts of Jamaica we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise. The view alone is enough reason to stay here!

Mike is a very informative host, who is approachable and attentive. We regularly asked Mike for advice, which he seemed very happy to give. Robin (who works with Mike) is also a great chap. He walked us into town upon arrival to orientate ourselves and help to integrate into the community. We stayed at Mike's for 4 nights, and by the end we were struggling with a lack of clothes. It is important to remember that this is a 'rainforest' like location in Jamaica and no washing facilities are available for dirty or damp clothing. Mike is extremely honest in his description and what you see is exactly what you get. However, if you're looking for a simple place in the hills with a fantastic view - this is the place for you!

Had a great time living at Mango Ridge and I might actually come back to spend another vacation there. Michael is a great host. Views of the harbor are amazing and the cottages are tucked in the lush green hills. Also, recommend booking trips to Blue Mountain and surrounding areas with Brandon.
