A large and sunny twin/double room in an apartment of a grand house in the North Oxford Victorian Conservation Area. Walk across the nearby University Parks to town centre, colleges and museums. Free street parking with a visitor's parking permit.
This large sunny room has original Victorian features and a new oak floor. Two south-facing sash windows overlook the rear gardens. The room contains two single beds (90 cm wide), which can be joined to form a comfortable double, as well as a two-seater sofa. The room is perfectly quiet, and has a desk, should you have any work to do while visiting. A travelling cot is available on request.
My flat is on the first floor with great views of trees and other grand Victorian houses.
Guests in two rooms share a WC/ bath/ shower room off the corridor and an additional WC on the landing. The fully equipped kitchen/dining room is available for breakfast (cereals, tea, coffee, orange juice, fruit & real bread or bagels). Cooking in the early evening is possible. Longer term guests can use the washing machine.
Interaction with Guests
As little as you'd like but available to answer your questions should you need my help. I'm mostly at home working on my computer or in the garden.
The house is on a quiet, tree-lined street off Banbury Road, in the desirable North Oxford Victorian Suburb Conservation Area, beside the University Parks and the river Cherwell, a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre across the Parks. Exit through the gate on the other side of the Parks to visit the Natural History Museum or the Pitt Rivers Museum, then the Sheldonian and the Bodleian Library. Browse the bookshops on Broad Street, visit colleges, or the Ashmolean museum. Alternatively, you could linger in the Parks watching cricket or punters on the river. If you fancy punting, the Cherwell Boat House is a 5-minute walk away. There are many nice cafés and pubs in the city centre and a wonderful choice of fresh food available at the Covered Market. In the evenings, you might take in a concert at the Holywell Music Room or at the Sheldonian or catch a film at the arthouse cinema in Jericho. The house is a perfect base for friends or families exploring the city or simply relaxing and enjoying the summer in peaceful surroundings.
There are bike stands in the drive and free parking in the street with guest permits which I provide. North Parade, just up the road, has a useful grocery store, a deli, pubs and cafes, as well 3 restaurants to choose from.
Buses in all directions leave from the top of the road, should you wish to go further afield: Woodstock and the Bleinham Palace. Buses to London leave from the central bus station 15 minute walk away.
Other Things to Note
There are bike stands in the drive and car parking in the road - free with guest permits I would provide.
No pets & no smoking in the house but you can smoke in the garden. Breakfast (orange juice, toast, cereal, tea & coffee) is self-service. Your dirty dishes after breakfast go in the dishwasher and the food back in the fridge.
It was a great hostel. The room that me and my friend stayed in was cozy and clean. Wanda was lovely as well as she keep providing guides to us for Oxford which helps a lot for visiting around!:)
Our stay with Wanda followed a recommendation by our niece. The adress was near to hers and she thought the room to be priceworth. And so I thought, when I researched other Oxford possibilities.
What came to it was some pleasant, direct and clear communication with Wanda about the availability of the room and some specifics from our side and Wanda's. Also nice that the payment procedure of Airbnb was clear.
The agreement with Wand about our arrival and stay and the room itself were completely as predicted and hoped for. A fine, clean and spacious room with arranged (and good) beds, where we could as home.
Kitchen, bathroom were ready for and pleasant in use. Breakfast was good and self-manageble.
Some nice conversation with Wanda and a few other guests made us feel at home and 'in Oxford'. Of course I should mention the nice, pleasant and quiet road (close to the heart of town).
All together we were/are very satisfied with Wanda's BnB!
I stayed with a colleague in Wanda's fantastic apartment. The apartment is really convenient and stylish and walking distance from Oxford University. Breakfast is included. Wanda was very easy to communicate with. I absolutely recommend staying here. When in Oxford again, this will be my choice of accommodation.
Wanda was a wonderful host- she was incredibly kind to us and made us feel like at home!
The flat is very well situated (15mins walk from city centre) and it's very clean and beautiful!
Wanda's place was wonderful. We stayed in her spotlessly clean, sunny room, and had an excellent stay. She was extremely kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended. Thank you Wanda!
Wanda is an amazing host! It was a great pleasure to stay with her. She takes really good care of her guests to make them feel at home. The flat is amazing and nicely refurbished. Highly recommended!
The stay in Wanda's place was perfect.
We were late by few hours but Wanda waited for us and guided us to her place, when we called her. She invited us generously and helped with planning our trip around the city. When we were leaving, she even gave us a lift to the bus station.
The place is nice, there is nothing I could complain about.
Also Wanda is really warm and helpful host.
I certainly recommend that place!
