The Space

4 bedroom / 3 bath house with plenty of curbside parking in the Deep Eddy neighborhood just off Lake Austin Blvd. less than 2 miles from Downtown. Approximately 4 miles from Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and 1+ mile walk to Zilker Park for Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival!!! Many great shops are within a very short distance: Randall's Grocery with Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy, 7-11 Gas Station (24 hrs), Twin Liquors (Beer, Wine, & Liquor), Town Lake Running/Bike Trail, Magnolia Cafe (24 hrs), Abel's on the Lake Restaurant, Hula Hut Restaurant, Mozart's Coffee Shop, and best of all, Maudie's Tex-Mex (local favorite)- and more!!!

The master bedroom has a king sized bed and the other three have queen sized beds with a full sized couch. The house has a spacious living room with ample seating for 8 as well as a 50 inch plasma TV equipped with every channel from AT&T Uverse, Logitech Revue (website hidden) TV, and wireless internet access. The kitchen has a gas range and all equipment needed to prepare a home cooked meal if you wish. The house also has a washer and dryer. The back yard is a great space to hang out and has a propane grill, dart board, and places to lounge. If you're looking for a little southern charm, use the rocking chairs on the front porch (Faulkner novels and bourbon not provided - sorry!)!!!

    I am writing this review in the hope that no other Airbnb community member will have the same experience that I have had with this person. I doubt it will make that much difference to Taylor; he seems to have 'taken the money and run', but so long as you are spared the same ordeal, and out-of-pocket cost! - then that is some (small) comfort.

    I would urge you most sincerely to rent any other property in Austin - or anywhere else listed by Taylor, for that matter. But avoid doing business with him at all costs. He is neither honest nor honorable. He will happily take your hard-earned money, for zero in return, without another thought.

    I made a mistake. I clicked "yes" to this listing before canceling another. That "mistake" has cost me $2500+, taken by Taylor for 11 minutes of "downtime", the amount of time between me booking, realizing my mistake, and telephoning him to alert him. NB: read the cancellation policies carefully! I clearly did not read or understand them well enough. Mea culpa!

    Yes, I had intended to rent his property (more room than the original one). No, he had not taken down his listing or stopped marketing it. This was 2 weeks prior to the proposed rental, during the Austin F1 GP, a busy period with reflected inflated rental prices. My proposed rental period was longer than the usual 4-5 days; so I guess it's no surprise that my non-refundable, 'in the bank', 50% was more appealing than bothering to actually rent it at all. Get paid to stay in your own home - bonus!

    Despite Taylor's assertion to me that he would remain in constant contact with me, relaying any and all info from airbnb re: cancellation refunds etc, I have never heard another word from him. The choice to make the refund, or portion thereof, was and is 100% his to make...and he has chosen to make a quick buck and ignore all subsequent efforts to contact him, either by me or Airbnb.

    I, and they, have emailed, called, and suggested a more reasonable settlement - for the 11 minutes of inconvenience - than the 50% of the total rental. Again, silence.

    It is, apparently, unusual for Airbnb to allow someone to review a property at which they have not actually stayed. Infer from that what you will. Clearly, this is - one hopes - an unusual case, for what is advertised as a "trusted community".

    I sincerely hope that these words will have the intended effect and that you will find a fabulous rental elsewhere, with someone else, who is deserving of your hard-earned money.

    Just in case...DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PERSON.
