We stayed at Star's place for two months. It was overall a great experience, with fresh fruit, awesome people living on the property, and a cute cabin. It is worth noting that this space is also home to a lot of cockroaches, mosquitos, lizards, fire ants, frogs, and mold, which can be easily mitigated with consideration. It is in a jungle environment, and it also rains often. If you love the outdoor living feel, this place is perfect!

Beautiful property, and the cabins are all different and little works of art. I love the open air living areas including bathrooms. This experience is like "glamping". Basic services, and a camp like feel, but great little Indian and Bali touches that really make them unique rooms. Like most places in the area, do not be freaked out by the green geckos in your room. They are beautiful with red and blue patches on them. They eat small bugs and spiders, but won't bother you. I love having them around. This was my second stay at Star's place and will be returning!

Very basic "camping out" cabin in a quiet location. Serves well if you are traveling on a budget, yet don't mind to eat out while exploring the island.

The cabin was clean and all amenities you need are provided. The location is secluded and very serene. It is perfect if you are holidaying in the Lower Puna District. It is 45 mins from Hilo and the airport and about an hour from the volcano. The cabin is powered by solar and the power becomes unavailable in the early mornings. There is no fan or AC. We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. Finding this location was difficult at night. Look for numbers on tree for 13-681 and 13-683. Our greeter Cameron was most helpful. Make sure you indulge in the amazing fruit grown on the property.l

This little cabin is situated a short walk away from the main house, on 26 acres of the most beautiful Hawaiian jungle... Lush greenery and tropical flowers are abundant, as well as little green geckos and wild mama pigs and their piglets!! Serena (who was our host during our stay) was so friendly and helpful, I felt like we were joining their little family. The cabin itself has lots of windows and natural light (the bathroom ceiling is clear corrugated plastic and one wall is entirely screened in), a useful and romantic mosquito net for the bed, and an sweet little outdoor kitchen! The kitchen has a two burner propane stove, cooler (with ice from the main house), table and chairs, and plates/utensils, etc. We didn't do a lot of cooking, but it was just what we needed to make tea in the morning and cut up local fruits and whatnot. And you don't need to cook! Because there are some really yummy spots in little Pahoa town just a few miles away. And if you want to keep it simple, take advantage of the abundance of delicious local produce. The property is just a few miles away from the beach, a sweet geothermal warm pool, and the boat launch for most (if not all) boat trips from the east&south sides of the island. We took a sunrise lava flow boat trip early one morning (HIGHLY RECOMMEND), and after a choppy ride back I was extremely grateful that my bed was just 2 miles up the road. If you're a light sleeper, bring some earplugs, as the coqui frogs are out all night - I personally like some white noise to sleep and they were like a jungle lullaby to my ears. It was an amazing experience, and I wish we had more time to enjoy the property. We will be back!!! Thank you, Starr and Serena. Mahalo nui loa.

Private, secluded, tucked away in the rainforest. Feels very open to the warm clean air with big windows and kitchen on the front porch. Comfortable bed. Lots of beautiful green/blue lizards dappled with orange and yellow spots. Precious little things! And gorgeous birds. It's a hundred or so feet away from parking, so be ready with a flashlight when you arrive after dark. Earplugs might be nice for the sensitive sleeper unaccustomed to jungle sounds. The commone space is also comfy -- that's where you'll find wifi and other friendly faces. At first our hot water wasn't running, but Serena fixed it in a flash. Beautiful little cabin, a great deal overall.
