Interaction with Guests
While we love meeting people from all over the world and sharing our own cultural heritage, you are totally welcome to shut the door on the world and rest.
Having traveled, we know what you need at the end of the day is to be comfortable and enjoy your time here as well as being out and about in the city.
Heart of Chicago/Pilsen, is one of the best affordable neighborhoods in the city, because it is only 20 minutes from the Loop and you can find the best Mexican and Italian food, local coffee shops, small galleries and museums, bike rental, Harrison and Douglas Parks, and unique vintage stores, all in a walkable neighborhood 15 minutes from downtown. Not to be missed are the famous Pilsen murals, which cover the facades of central European architecture throughout the area.
There are grocery stores, laundromats and ATM's within a five minute walk from our front door.
The Mexican Art Museum is a must-see, free and within walking distance, and the tacos in the area are unforgettable. Pilsen is famous for its old Czech architecture and the houses are really unique. Our neighborhood is covered in murals, and walking around is a must.
Our place is conveniently located near major public transit routes to downtown Chicago. There is free street parking and divvy bike rental around the corner. You are a two minute walk from the 49 bus, a five minute walk from the 21 and 60, and ten minutes from the Pink Line WESTERN stop, which takes you to downtown Chicago (also known as “The Loop”) in 20 minutes.
A wintertime note for drivers: between December 1st and April 1st, in Chicago, there is a parking ban on major streets, when snow is over 2 inches; however, residential street parking is widely available.
For those guests who take public transportation, a valuable online resource is (website hidden), where you can find arrival times of all CTA trains and buses.

It was exactly how it was described. I was met by Shaun's partner Chris who let me in early. They were cool enough to let me check-in early. The bed was comfortable, the suite was perfection for what I needed to do. Also the neighborhood had enough street parking since I drove up. I would totally stay again.
I stayed in Shaun and Chris's place with a colleague of mine while we attended a conference downtown. The rooms were lovely - bright, warm, clean and with enough space for two to move comfortably. Chris was really helpful when we moved in and thoughtfully provided advice throughout the week.
My friend and I travelled downtown every day for the conference and found it easy and convenient. The house is only a few blocks from the CTA station and the journey downtown was hassle-free.
I would definitely book with Shaun and Chris again.
This was an seasons place to stay! Super close to the Pink Line and downtown adjacent. Not to mention the surrounding neighborhood is a gem. To top it off the hosts are really kind and willing to help in any way possible.
Chris and Shaun were gracious in our talks over the phone and accommodated my dropping my luggage off in the morning of my stay so I could get to my event.
I found reviews for a nice Italian restaurant which I had the taxi drop me off at after my event at the Convention Center. I walked back to the B&B. Western Ave was brightly lit and I felt safe, even though it's in an leer neighborhood.
Instead of taking a taxi the best morning, I took a bus that was less than a block away that dropped me off right at McCormack Place.
Would visit here again.
It was a quick business trip, but the place was very nice, clean, cozy and quiet! Sean was kind and accommodating . I would definitely stay here again !
The hosts were very welcoming, nice and attentive. The space was comfortable and clean. Very nice neighborhood that was easy to navigate.
Danke.

Hi! I'm Shaun, an English teacher and visual artist who has lived in Spain, Mexico, and all over the US. When I was a kid, my dream was to go around the world in 80 days. So far, I've only traveled through the US, Europe, Mexico and Pakistan. Places I'd like to visit next? Washington DC, Cyprus, Portugal, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires.
I live a mellow, healthy lifestyle, with loads of ever evolving interests: meeting new people from everywhere, urban hiking, languages, reading, film, cooking, yoga, football, blogging, art, permaculture/gardening, coffee, music, traveling, and just taking it easy.
My hosting style is laid-back, hands off but available, so you feel like this is your place, but also know that I am here if you need me. I work online from home, so finding me is easy. Having taught international students for many years, I can get along with people from anywhere and love making connections. You never know when you will meet a life-long friend from a city you never heard of.
