Enjoy a comfortable, secluded garden cottage in a historic downtown San Luis Obispo home along bicycle boulevard. Located in a sunny, safe, and vibrant college town midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on California's Central Coast.
A detached, tucked away, private cottage with it's own entrance and patio in the back of our peaceful 110 year old historic downtown home. An ideal location for guests looking to slow down and have an authentic blissful San Luis Obispo experience.
The cottage includes a comfortable "Full / Double Bed" (size 54"x 75") and large closet with a mini fridge, filtered drinking water and a microwave.
Our guests get a freshly made bed with cotton linens and towel sets with soap for the bathroom which is located in the main house. Our home is old so the hot water takes a moment.
Wireless internet is provided.
You can open the french doors to a private garden patio environment with a round table and four chairs that's great for a delightful outdoor dining experience. We offer a delicious continental breakfast which is provided fresh daily. Although we do not provide coffee, there are wonderful coffee places within a couple blocks of our home.
We do not allow cats and dogs because we have 3 wonderful chickens: Ginger, Daisy, and Tayrona. They have their own home and space to rome so they will not be in your way.
This place is best suited for a single person or couple. Parties are not allowed.
If you just want to get away and spend quiet time in a beautiful place this is the spot for you.
Our guests enjoy a private entrance to the garden patio with brick path to their hidden cottage room.
The bathroom is located in the main house only a few steps from the cottage.

Biking and hiking trails accessible through the neighborhood. Breath taking views provide many photo opportunities and experiences.
We happily provide hiking information since we frequently walk the trails. Be sure to bring good walking shoes, sun block and a hat if you want to try some of the trails. I also recommend you bring layered clothing and especially jacket/windbreaker for nighttime and mornings, SLO can get chilly at night.
Numerous bus stops for transportation around city are nearby within a couple of blocks walking distance.
Explore the plethora of good restaurants, beaches and wineries. Downtown SLO is vibrant with great restaurants, movie and coffee houses, and is simply nice to walk around. Farmer's Market is every Thursday from 6pm-9pm, live entertainment, great food and interesting people.
SLO is centrally located with several beaches North and South less than 15 minutes away. The sunsets on the coast are truly fantastic. South of the cottage is Avila Beach, Shell Beach, and Pismo Beach, North of the cottage is Los Oso, Baywood, and Morro Bay.

Great room, great price, great location. The room was quiet and private, and easily accessible so I didnt feel like I was disturbing anyone while coming or going. Comfortable too. Really close to a lot of stuff, so you can easily walk instead of driving everywhere. I was provided all of the amenities I could need.
Overall, easy and pleasant. 5/5 would stay here again.
Great little cottage in the backyard, tastefully decorated and in a great location, only a few minutes walk from downtown SLO. Sarah was great and made us breakfast and gave us suggestions of places to eat and areas to hike. Only downside could be the short trek outside to the bathroom, although it really wasn't a big deal for us. Overall great experience and we would definitely recommend staying here.
The garden cottage was great, super convenient to downtown shops/restaurants and cozy. It was wonderful waking up to the sun coming in the windows in the morning. Scott and Sarah were great hosts and provided some great suggestions on places to go during the day.
I want fellow travelers to know you are getting what you pay for. I did not have a chance to check out cost of a motel/hotel but this is definitely not worth it. The french doors that were locked opened when just pulled on. I found this out after leaving my laptop and electronics there while I left for the day. So it is not secure. They stated we had a 'private' bathroom. We really needed to go to the bathroom and brush our teeth for the night the residents were showering in our "private" bathroom for over 30 minutes!? In the run down bathroom with a broken shower faucet that was unreadable to get a hot shower. It is literally a hippie shack in the backyard with rats running around the yard and heard scratching in the walls at night. They stated they provided water and the crock was 1/2 full for our 2 day stay. The full bed had springs popping in it. A vegetarian breakfast was offered but was given a continental breakfast one out of the two day stay. A bottle of sparkling apple cider with no opener. It was close to Cal Poly, downtown and restaurants was the only plus. The hosts never greeted us. They told us check in was a 4 pm but were leaving for the night at 3:30 pm. I am not persnickety person. I go backpacking and camping and these conditions were intolerable for the $ paid.
The reservation was canceled 30 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Sarah was super kind and welcoming to us! We had a lovely stay in their comfortable back room (in the back yard, separate from the house). The only downside was the short trek to the bathroom in the house -- which was a little rough since it was January -- but other than that we were perfectly comfortable, and had a heater in the room too. Sarah made a great breakfast for us and gave us good advice about places to eat and hikes nearby. The location couldn't be better -- we parked on the street at the house and left the car there while we walked around town, because the house is so close to downtown SLO it would be silly to drive.
