About This Listing
Newly re-built in 1993, this beautiful home still feels like an old world sanctuary. High in the verdant hills of Oakland, our 2br/1.5 bath Spanish jewel easily accommodates eight guests, and even then seems spacious!
The house consists of two levels, each with decks overlooking a lush garden of lilies, roses, lavender, poppies, and kangaroo paws. The main level, with a wonderfully open floor plan, has living room, dining room, and kitchen. From the living room, enjoy the western views of the San Francisco Bay at sunset, or invite friends to join you at the dining room table, which extends to fit eight quite comfortably. The well-stocked kitchen will please any chef, and inspire many sumptuous meals!
The master bedroom has an equally breathtaking view of the Bay, especially from the vantage of its four-poster queen bed. An attached study, which opens onto the expansive back yard, is decorated with artifacts from around the globe, and has a comfy pull-out queen-size sofa, TV, and a vintage writing desk. Delight in the luxury of the master bath, with its soft robes, tiled tub that overlooks the garden, and separate WC. The second bedroom, which peeks out at the deck (another room with a view!), has a trundle bed, a large TV, and an array of great books and cds. Netflix and DirectTV are available for both TVs. Even so, don’t forget to curl up in the cozy reading nook for a good read! Also, please feel free to avail yourself of the laundry room.
The lovely outdoor space will beckon you outside. Once there, it may be difficult to decide whether to drink french-pressed coffee on the kitchen terrace, curl up in the hammock, stretch out for a snooze on the chaise lounge, BBQ on the deck by the old-growth Redwood, or gather for a late-night chat over California wine by the massive gas fireplace. It’s all so wonderful… you won’t ever want to leave!

This location is also ideal if you’d like to visit the Oakland Rose Garden or the Sculpture Gardens Jack London Square, the University of California, Berkeley, or Silicon Valley. Downtown Oakland has some of the best restaurants in California, not to mention a downtown lake, complete with gondolas and a running path. You may also walk to Lake Temescal with its sweet beach, walking paths and fishing spots. We are within minutes of many other amazing hiking, biking, and riding trails and parks.

San Francisco is only 20 minutes away, Muir Woods a quick 45 minute drive, and the wineries of Napa and Sonoma are an hour away. We are 20 minutes from Oakland airport and 35 minutes from SFO. BART, with a station just 1.5 miles away, goes into downtown Oakland and San Francisco, as well as to both airports. The ferry system, a more scenic mode of transportation, goes from Jack London Square to San Francisco, Marin, or Angel Island. From the Ferry Station in SF, you can get a boat to Alcatraz Island, one of the most famous prisons in the world. It makes for a wonderful day trip.

it was a wonderful experience staying at Limor and Rose's place. It was really cozy and beautiful with views. Definitely recommend it!!!
Absolutely loved staying in this beautiful home in Oakland! My family and I stayed here for four days during UC Berkeley's graduation weekend. We were made to feel extremely welcome and greeted with delicious breakfast goodies upon arrival. It was a fantastic alternative to a hotel and I highly recommend it. The house is extremely comfortable but the best part was the outdoor fireplace that we spent our evenings sitting and chatting around!
Our stay was a great first experience with airbnb. Our family of three felt perfectly at home from the moment we opened the door to this charming home. Limor was a gracious, conscientious host. She made a point to check in with us by email and was available throughout our stay, but was never intrusive.
We enjoyed the lovely basket of fruit, chocolates and breakfast goodies, along with a notebook of excellent restaurant recommendations and helpful area information.
From a purely practical standpoint, our accommodations were clean, comfortable and spacious. The house was even closer to the Cal campus than we thought.
I'm so glad we didn't default to a hotel - everything was so easy and we came away rested instead of frazzled. We could not have asked for a nicer stay!
'Stairway to Heaven' describes this property perfectly! There are 45 stairs to get the a lovely home, comfortably furnished, very nice art works, a fabulous CD & DVD collection, and great sunset views - heavenly. The patio would be great for parties though we used it only once. Limor and the people at Book-a-nook were responsive to our questions and issues especially early on in our stay. Sara (the owner) was equally communicative all the way from Paris. Our stay was for over 3 months and we did feel a little isolated in the Oakland Hills after a while. There are no restaurants or other facilities within a mile.
We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a pleasant home to stay in and doesn't mind driving in Bay area traffic.
The experience was truly amazing and very peaceful very quiet and the views were absolutely wonderful I had a very good time the host did a good job and I will be back not soon hopefully I will be back real soon. All the comforts of home but with more. They have a patio that is absolutely amazing. If you're looking for a place to just sit back and relax enjoy the views and Mother Nature this is the place for you. Thanks again for your hospitality
This is a beautiful house with stunning views of the San Francisco skyline, Bay and Golden Gate Bridges. The garden and backyard were very well maintained and our kids loved playing in all the private spaces in back. The house has a very private feel and is very cozy. The property managers are very responsive and quickly came to address any needs we had. One caveat: this house is very vertical in orientation and has a very large number of stairs, even to get inside the front door has 40-50 steps. Those who would have trouble climbing stairs multiple times per day should consider this carefully.
Limor made it easy for a first-time user on Airbnb like me to feel comfortable, safe, and welcome with the renting process. The listing was accurate and neighborhood nice. It was a good home-base for myself and groomsmen in preparation for my wedding in nearby Piedmont. I wish I could have stayed longer myself to enjoy the patio fireplace and views.

Love this place
An amazing place to walk or go for a run. Designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, it has ponds and trees, stone staircases and the best views in all of the East Bay!
