Moments on the rooftops of Paris
On the verandas of Tennessee Williams
Through the alleyways of New York
And the crashing waves of Venice
From house to house without too much fight
Our love passes
With spice and song and laughter
We create within ourselves this art called life
And drink together after
For years we watch, we trade, we cry
We hang out at Billy's
While their world passes by
Our romance intense
The story a steamy one
All on the breeze of a palm tree
Sinking in the ocean with the sun
Should you come to one of our parties
Be you lucky enough to attend
Our special neighborhood
With subtle obscenities
Secretly with the smell of dinner and music
Then you may end up staying
A long while, i may add
And soon it will become difficult to leave this place
Has your heart
Such an excuse
Tracy's beautiful and serene home was a delight to stay in! I found the room to be small but quite adequate, with a very comfortable bed, complete with a down comforter and pillows. The bath towel provided was extra large (always a treat) and I have to say, the shower in the large bathroom was about the coolest shower I've ever gotten to stand in and enjoy! Jets hit you from the walls and directly from above and the whole bathroom (and in fact, the whole house) is decorated in an eclectic, artsy, and very beautiful way. I'd definitely stay there again and I hope to in the future. By the way, things were so quiet and I only saw one person one time, and that was Tracy, who greeted me upon my arrival. After that, there was only serenity and peace. It's very easy to find and very close to the main area of Venice, within easy access to Santa Monica.
Tracy is a very warm and loving personality, her place is very clean, and the bedding is extremely comfortable. The place is also reflective of Tracy's connection with art, so has the funky art appearance.
One very important feature that is not obvious from the airbnb site is that the room is one of several in the same house that are rented, so while the international youth hostel hustle and bustle of people coming and going from 7:00am to 2:00 am is fun and exciting for youthful world travelers, business and professional people will probably want to book her self-contained flat property. (The stairs for the attic space she rents goes directly above the foot of the bed in the angel room, but if you are a heavy sleeper or are used to youth hostels, this won't be a problem, and also of course is no issue when no one is staying there.) I think it is ethical to know this in advance of deciding to stay there, however.
Also, while cute or exotic looking from post-modern artistic points of view, serious Buddhist practitioners might have their religious sensibilities challenged by the decapitated Buddha heads (a "chic" art form begun from colonial-era art thieves stealing the heads from Asian temple statues and selling them to Westerners,) and Buddha images displayed from on the floor (usually such images are only kept in high places in traditional Buddhist culture). But I got no sense that Tracy means any harm by these things; it is all very innocent and typical CA-style DIY spirituality, but it is something to bear in mind for religiously-sensitive Buddhist people. (One never sees a head of Jesus or Star of David being used in such kinds of art decorations-I don't think it would be so appreciated.)
The shower bathroom is awesome, and the garden beautiful with blooming flowers; the 24-hr fountain has a sound like rain and the pond has real fish in it like you would see in Asia.
In sum, this room is very sweet with secure locks. I think the space is a bit over-priced at $75, and is worth more like $40, but I guess because of the prime location it can fetch that price. Her self-contained flat (listed separately) though is definitely worth the price; if i ever stay there again it will be in that space.
Tracy is a warm and wonderful person. The place is very cozy and quite surprising. I reccomand it !
When I arrived, I couldn't find the instructions to get into the house and my room, so I called Tracy. Even though she was out of town, she talked me through how to get in the gate and into my room. Also, I'll mention that the shower was out of service one morning but she had it fixed very quickly that same day.
Staying in Tracy's house was the highlight of my trip to LA. She is such a gracious woman. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better stay. Thanks, Tracy!
Great little sanctuary in an Urban environment, located in a fun area of Venice!
Needed a zen place away from the burbs for a couple days, the Angel Room was perfect, bunnies, guinea pigs and an anthro vibe, highly recommend! Thank you Tracy and Ava!
Peace, Truth and Love
Tracy's place is enchanting. If you're seeking an interesting place and a warn, friendly host .... tuck yourself in at The Angel Room. It's tiny, but you have access to the whole house and garden terrace with waterfall sculpture. Tracy's abode is brimming with artistic quirkiness, and, if you like cuddly cats, you'll have a few sweet companions.
- Plan to take her bikes for a spin down to the canals and to Venice Beach. Enjoy!
Thanks Tracy. I hope to be back!
After reading the reviews of noise, and people unable to sleep, I decided to cancel. Then she wrote on my profile amid her frustration, about how exhausting the guest was. I began receiving emails about how she didn't understand how to use the website. Maintaining integrity, I guided her through the process. -Open email, press button. We had previously agreed on refund. That's why I canceled. But actually, she sent a message that she had to hire a personal assistant to help her click the box, and took it out of my account. Tracy then sent an email saying, "I wish you never booked here."
dear melanie, seeing that you never stayed here it is interesting that you would write it is noisy. you told me your intuition told you this. however, in my defense, there is not a single review i can find that indicates my house is noisy. i only have amazingly outstanding reviews from extremely happy guests. i am sorry you feel this retaliation. it was exhausting that you booked and then 3 mins later canceled, then said you would stay, then asked for $90. i offered you a refund when i was able to navigate the confusion. the room is $80 of which i receive $78, you never canceled & then asked for $90?? i spoke with the airbnb team 3 times to help me resolve this situation in all goodness. as well, my personal assistant tried to help me. we were both unable to decipher your thoughts fully.
it is certainly unfair of you to try and soil my reviews with untruths in your confusion. i do wish you peace. tracy&ava
This place is so fantastic!! and comfortable.
I could stay in a beautiful garden with the sound of water
I think because the host, Tracy is artist, this place could be created like this!!!
She was wonderful and the property was great -- best shower in Venice and beautiful soothing garden. Another viewer mentioned the walls are on the thinner side, so earplugs might be good if the person above you is having a loud night. Overall a wonderful stay.
