About this listing
Come share our home in the historic Cooper-Young neighborhood in the heart Midtown.
Our house is inviting with plenty of space to spread out. You can expect a safe, inviting, and walkable neighborhood. Downtown is only a few minutes by car or bus.
We are opening our house and its spacious modern floor plan in one of Memphis' most historic neighborhoods. The guest bedroom is in the front of the house and is furnished with a full bed and futon chair that lays down for sleeping. There is also a third bedroom with an air mattress available for additional travelers at $15 per night.
Guests will have full access to guest bath, laundry room, open living room, large kitchen, and private backyard with grill, fire pit, and hammock.
Books, records, DVDs and video games are available to keep you content on a rainy day.
We have three bikes available for use as well.
Interaction with Guests
We love to have company and entertain but will happily give you as much space as you like. More than likely Jonathan will be cooking and likes to cook for a crowd. We're open to eating, drinking, and trading stories or will happily point you on your way to adventures in the city.
We are a short walk from many excellent bars and restaurants. Venturing outside of the neighborhood is super easy do to our central location. Whether you are heading downtown or to East Memphis, you are never more than 10-15 minutes away.
Our house is a block away from the train tracks so you may hear some horns at night. It's certainly less than most cities' noise and we don't even notice it anymore.
Bus lines are close and convenient. Feel free to use our bikes to enjoy the area and we will more than likely be happy to give you a ride somewhere when we are around.
Other Things to Note
We have two giant friendly dogs that only stay outside and two cats that rule the indoor kingdom. They all love attention but will stay out of your way if your not an animal person.
No smoking inside, but the front porch and back patio are fine as long as you clean up.
We did not get to meet Jonathan and Alison as they were out of town. However they were happy to be contacted anytime and had a pet sitter dropping in every day who was more than happy to help. The house was as described. It felt very comfortable and homely. It is in a great location and nice neighbourhood. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and well stocked. The hosts had left lots of provisions for breakfast. They were quick to answer questions and happy for us to use facilities within their home. A brilliant first experience of Airbnb.
Due to my very busy schedule, I was either out about town or in bed most of the time. So, I didn't get to properly meet Jonathan and Alison. I did say hello to Alison briefly, however, and I hung out with their cats for a couple hours. They are very friendly kitties! The room and house were nice and clean and I felt like I had everything I needed. I would definitely stay there again.
I had a lovely, albeit short stay here with Jonathan and Alison in Memphis! The room was great, facing the street with a large window-- I loved it. The bed was very comfy and there was a nice, nightstand switch to turn on/off the light and adjust the fan-- super convenient. The location was awesome. There were so many little restaurants, highly rated, that were super close the place. If I had stayed a longer time I would've enjoyed just biking/walking around the area. Not too far from downtown. I only met Alison (as I was there for a short time), and she was fantastic. Super nice and welcoming and answered all my questions. They even left me coffee in the morning. Such a nice stay. Also, the cats are very cute and follow you around.
This was my second time staying with Jonathan & Alison, which was another happy, comfortable stay. It's a lovely clean place to stay in a trendy part of town and the hosts were more than welcoming in their home. Will come back again and happily recommend to others!
This was my first experience with AirB&B and it was great! Johnathan and Allison were great host. The room and bathroom were very clean (better than a hotel) with many toiletries and towels. WiFi password and key are given. They provided a list of activities and museums with the times and locations ( very convenient). The neighborhood was fine. I brought my personal car and I felt safe leaving out in the street. They live A short distance from downtown and main attractions. I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to visit again especially so I could see the cats: Cole and Jasper, I miss them dearly.
We had a great time in Memphis and Jonathan and Alison's place was an ideal base from which to explore. We really appreciated how easygoing they were with all our travel delays. Would recommend their place to anyone visiting the city.
Jonathan and Alison's home is as beautiful in person as it is in photo. They are laid back, welcoming, and accommodating. I very much look forward to be hosted by them when next I'm in town; their super-host status is well deserved.
