We expect is that you treat the home with respect and be responsible. But we think that is a common courtesy most travelers on airbnb provide.
We want you to relax and feel at home. We want you to warm and cozy but also conserve energy while out and about.
We do require a photocopy of the IDs of our guests. Guests will have to pay costs associated with lost keys and/or key cards.
Lastly, remember a preschooler lives here. So if you are, say, taking an aspirin and drop it and it rolls away, please try to find it or let us know because our 3 year old will definitely find it and possibly ingest it...
This is not an extra property, it's our home! We've been here eight years :)
Thanks. We look forward to having you stay here!

You can not go wrong with this place and even more importantly you WILL NEVER go wrong with Elizabeth :)
Gugu and I were getting ready to move overseas and we needed a place to stay with Savannah, our cat, for two and a half weeks. Luckily, this matched up exactly with Liz and Luis's plans. The apartment was right around the corner from our old place and had everything we needed to feel at home for July (including an antique stove-top toaster :). Overall, they were warm hosts, leaving us full range of the fridge and cooking us fresh chocolate-chip cookies. We would definitely stay with them again, too bad they're leaving DC too!
Liz and Luis are amazing hosts. This was my second stay in their apartment. Home baked cookies, organic breakfast eggs, milk and juice in the fridge..... Apartment welcoming, super clean, comfortable. It is the perfect place to stay in DC. It is exactly as presented on Airbnb site......Thank you Liz and Luis for everything.
We spent a wonderful week staying at Liz and Luis' apartment. The communication before and during our stay couldn't have been better. The apartment is spacious, with lovely light, excellent heating and cooling, a very well equipped chefs kitchen, comfortable lounge, great bed, good linens and towels, wifi, Apple TV and is in a secure building with doorman and 24 hour front desk. It's in a great position with bus at the door, supermarket almost next door and within easy walks to many restaurants, shops, good coffee at Tryst on 18thNW, and very easy bus or cab ride to all DC attractions. Metro also an easy walk. Our experience couldn't have been better. Its a lovely " homey" apartment with a great feel. Thank you Liz and Luis.
Liz was extremely hospitable and helpful in introducing me to her apartment and showing me around the building, etc. Her and Luis' apartment is absolutely charming and a place where it's easy to feel at home. Liz even baked me some cookies and biscuits upon arrival, provided some fruit, as well as had some salad, milk/cream, bagels, cream cheese, orange juice and coffee on hand for me to enjoy during my stay. I would definitely stay here again - it's exactly as pictured and like I said above, extremely homey and charming. The location is really convenient, too - Liz pointed out that the bus was super quick and easy for where I was heading (downtown) and the stop is literally on the block's corner. Also an easy walk to restaurants, bars, coffee shops and stores in Adams Morgan, as well as Columbia Heights and U Street.
Wow! We couldn't have done better: Liz met us on a cold Spring day with warm cookies and had fresh coffee and breakfast basics on hand for our first morning. She offered good tips on how to get in to town from the airport and places to eat in the neighborhood. And, since we were traveling with a kid, Liz left art supplies, kid friendly tourist info, maps, her extra transit card and umbrellas. Can't beat the never-ending hot water supply after a day of hoofing it all over town either. Everything was more than expected. We loved coming home to Liz's cheerful apartment!
What a fantastic apartment and amazing hosts! Elizabeth is all about the details. I arrived late in the night and Elizabeth and her husband were kind enough to leave me a home cooked dinner. The pictures are accurate as they have a very colorful and welcoming home. It was perfect for visiting DC for a conference and I look forward to staying at their apartment in the future.
About the Host, Elizabeth
Photographer/mother (originally from San Francisco) and a dynamite world-traveling 5 year old.
Before joining airbnb.com we used craigslist for years. We shared our apartment with some wonderful people while on vacations: we met lawyers working in the White House and national foundations, inspired students and friendly couples. It has been a great experience.
Now living in Los Angeles, Ca.
You can buy beer and wine until 10 pm and the store is open until midnight. There's a redbox for renting movies! And it's NEXT DOOR! If you but something you can park there all day for free.
OPEN 24 HOURS! They have anything you want from eggs Benedict to a Kahlua Milkshake. Hands down the most kid friendly during regular hours and bar goer-friendly in the wee hours.
Ask for Hannah. Tell her you are renting from Liz and Luis, she'll make sure your drinks are delicious! Great live music any night.
Tryst is a great place to go on a weekday. You MUST go here at least once, it's part of the neighborhood experience. Happy hour is 3-6 pm, early for the people "finishing their novels".
Latin-American. The decor is beautiful, mojitos delicious and live music is great. Just don't go to early.
My favorite place to eat soup. Again, tell Bardia you are renting from Liz and Luis, he'll be very happy :)
This is the best of all worlds: the restaurant is kid-friendly, the bar is great for adults and there's a big wall of fine bourbons. Nostalgic American food. Who could ask for more?
Great sandwiches for work or picnics. Cash only.
Great happy hour!
Yes, is a restaurant hidden in a gas station. But trust us, it's great. They make Uruguayan chivito sandwiches and this place is in no way a greasy spoon. It's nice.
Newly opened coffee snob spot. Excellent coffee. Nice people. Small.
This is the new foodie restaurant in Adams Morgan. We haven't been there but has good reviews. Probably more expensive than other options but only for this neighborhood.
Never had pupusas or Salvadorean soups? We think you should start here!
Sometimes this place is empty but if you are into world music, jazz, salsa or fusion music, check the schedule. Amazing photography on the walls.
Wednesday nights is Brazilian, w/samba dancers.
MECCA of Whiskey, Rye and Bourbon. It's a virtual library. The ambiance is masculine and elegant. This is our favorite special bar, hands down. The happy hour has great prices on small plates.
Great bookstore, performances, food, ambience... Named for Langston Hughes.
Skip Radius and the other pizza places. This New Haven style pizzeria is amazing. We love the "Colosseum" pie. They sometimes have 1/2 price monday specials.
"Cool" bar. Very nice back deck.
Need a bathing suit?
MECCA of fine chocolate. I have nothing else to say, it's wonderful.
Everyone loves Target. Well, almost everyone.
Delicious sandwiches and now breakfast sandwiches. They deliver!
An institution and a must. Just not when there is a line (weekend).
Small Hemmingway-themed bar.
On beautiful days we buy a 6pack of microbrew beer inside and relax with friends and our strollers (sleeping kids) on the picnic tables outside. The owner will happily give you an empty coffee cup.
A Dupont institution: escargot, wine and creme brulee.
Definitely check the schedule if you love live music.
Amazing gelato. Perfect coffee. And delicious but spare Argentine sweets.
If you have been to Greece or want to go, you will love Zorba's.
Super cute and modern home dec. Think Jonathan Adler and Blu Dot.
If you are a die-hard foodie with money to burn, you must book a reservation. Did I mention you will need money to burn?
Great bookstore/24 hour restaurant/bar combo.
"Phillips after 5" combines live music, gallery talks, modern art, food, and a cash bar for a memorable evening on the 1st Thursday of every month and every Thursday in Aug from 5 -8:30 pm.
Make a reservation for brunch! You should not miss this truly Washingtonian experience. Very romantic and also great for friends.
Delicious. Same as in NYC. Frozen custard and burgers.
A must for tea lovers.
Great mainstream movie theater. There are lots of dining options, a Haagen Dazs and the S bus stop is a couple blocks away.
This is top of the line coffee nerd coffee. A must after eating in Chinatown or going to the Building Museum.
Independent movies! Fancy chocolate, real drinks and swanky snacks. Take the S2 or S4 for back to the apartment, easy!
