Getting around Ubud town is easy by foot, and there are plenty of taxis if you get tired!
We recommend bringing a torch for the way back into the rice field at night.
Other Things to Note
While the Joglo is easy to get to by walking or scooter, at night the walk into the rice field can get dark in places. You'll need a torch. It's the price we pay for enjoying the open space and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the main centre.
Kristine is a great host and so is the housekeeper and the gardener. They made the trip very easy the book and while we were staying there, made us feel very welcome.
The house is basic but very clean. The deco made it homely and it's got all the themes you love about Bali. The pool was amazing and a great way to relax. The 20min walk to the main road is beautiful and lovely. It was sometimes too far and definitely too far for the kids, but Ketut and Made was always on hand to give us a lift. Made the gardener was also amazing in his garden. Providing us with fresh coconuts juice, eggs or vegetables from the garden everyday.
Highly recommend this place to relax. A good place to get away from the bustles of Ubud.
The Rice Joglo is an experience which anyone would enjoy. The setting is fantastic, the building is unique and it has a relaxing charm that is perfectly enjoyable. The pool area is great for kids to enjoy as well as relaxing after whatever activity you have chosen from the vast choice in the Ubud area. Staff are available when needed but manage to remain discretely out of the way to enable guests to enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the location. A fun place for a family or a romantic retreat for a couple. The Rice Joglo offered both.

About the Host, Kristine
I've lived in Sydney for a long time, though I was born in Norway. I seem to have both the sea and mountain cabins in my blood, because I'm now living between the two! I met my partner Sonu in my travels a few years ago, and we now divide our time between our home at Bronte Beach, and the Javanese teak Joglo cabin we help manage in the mountains of Bali. Sonu is Indian Hindu, who spent 10 years running an Indian restaurant in Israel, so between us we are a bit of a multicultural stew. We also have multi cultural children who love water - beaches, pools, and the fish that swim in the ponds in Bali.
