The Space

Our motto; "There are no strangers here, only friends that haven't met yet"
We offer clean, spacious en-suite rooms with Digital TV, ipod dock, DVD player, hairdryer, free Wi-Fi and tea & coffee making facilities approved by "Visit London"
All prices include a light breakfast which includes tea, coffee, juice, cereal and toast.
Our roooms are situated above our bar, The (email hidden) pub with tiles and mirrors dating back to 1900.
I am a member of The British Institute of Innkeepers(BII) & The Campaign for Real Ale (CamRA) so you can be assured that the bar is professionally run and the beer is in tip top condition.
In the bar as well as our great range of beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks you can sample the marvellous authentic Thai food from Ben's Thai Restaurant. A Maida Vale tradition for over 20 years.
We are situated close to Paddington train station, which is ideal for the Heathrow Express/Connect.
We are also close to tourist attractions such as Little Venice, Regents Park for London zoo, Madame Tussauds, Marble Arch & Oxford street.
For the cricket enthusiast we are a 20min walk from Lord's.
For the soccer fan it is only a short bus ride directly to Chelsea's Stamford Bridge, Fulham's Craven Cottage or QPR's Loftus road.
In fact you can get to most attractions via public transport within 30mins from The Chipp.
We are within a 5-8min walk of 3 tube stations. Maida Vale (Bakerloo), Westbourne Park (Hammersmith & City) and Queens Park (Overground).
We are also served by London Bus routes (phone number hidden)4. The No. 18 also runs close by which takes you to Euston & St. Pancras (Eurostar). Most of these operate 24hours.
Unfortunately we have no on-site parking but there are plenty of pay & display bays on the streets adjacant to us.
Although we do advise you it is best to leave the car at home and use public transport.
We are also part of the London rock'n'roll tour as this is the venue where Joe Strummer started his career with the 101ers prior to gaining fame with The Clash in the 70's.
We hope to welcome you soon to The Chippenham.

  • It is a very good variant to stay. The room was very clean, no any smell or noise. The staff is friendly. There is a bus stop near the hotel, it is very good located.

  • I had a very nice stay at The Chippenham, for a cheap price. Easy connections to buses, the tube is not too far either, and you're just a few stops away from the inner city.

Also, the staff was very nice and helpful whenever I had a question.

So far, the best place I've stayed in (for the price). I'll come again.

  • I had a really pleasant stay, public transport into the city is very convient, the bus infront of the door, Maida Vale - Tube about 6min to walk. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. Thank you
    Happy Christmas :-)

  • I spent 3 nights at Chippenham Hotel. I was in room 10. It was clean and spacious, with en-suite. Silvana and her sister Beatrice were lovely. They were friendly and made fabulous Italian coffee for me at breakfast. The location was very central for me. Walking distance to Maida Vale station and Westborune Pk. There are some lovely cafes on the way to Maida Vale station. I found Chippenham hotel good value for money. I would stay there again when I need to work in London next.

  • Very welcoming staff, very helpful and accommodating.
It was easy to reach the hotel coming from Paddington, 20 min journey on number 36, and the bus stop was situated just a few yards from the door of the hotel. Also good for outbound journey to Victoria, using stop on the other side of road. Nearest tube is about 10-15 mins walk.
Room quality - I didn't have an outside view, so that felt a bit claustrophobic. Also I think the room had been used many times by smokers, and the smell remained in there which I didn't like as I don't smoke. But apart from that, the room had all the basics you need, including a plug in heater which was appreciated!
The breakfast of fresh croissants was good, and having a breakfast time available until 10.30am suited me very well.

Overall I think the hotel is very reasonable and has good bus services available. And very pleasant staff.

  • Horror Hotel. Eingecheckt und direkt weiter gezogen. Aber waren wir auch selber Schuld. Was will man für den Preis in London erwarten...
Trotzdem Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig. Direkt im EG ist ein Pub und bei unserem Aufenthalt war eine Riesenbaustelle vor der Türe

    Response from Tomas:

Pity you didn't speak to me whilst here.Sorry you felt disappointed.
If you read any of the other reviews, I believe, we have plenty of praise.
We do NOT claim to be a 5* hotel but a pub B&B and our prices are very competitive compared to nearby hotels.
    Maybe you expect too much?
As for the "building site " outside, I have no control when the utility decide to work on the public highway system. Although an eyesore, they are not too loud or intrusive.

Again it's a pity you did not raise any concerns whilst you were here!

  • The Chippenham is a great hotel for the budget conscious as well as tourists simply looking for a bed and breakfast. The hosts and staff are very friendly and helpful. Even made a (email hidden) below. Location wise, you can opt to walk to Warwick Avenue station (~15 minutes) or take a bus to Paddington (~15 mins). It is also located in zone 2, relatively near to the city centre, so travelling times are generally cut short.

The rooms I stayed at (had a change of room due to a storm) were clean and inviting, with the bedding particularly comfortable.
    Overall great value for money!
