In a building of great historical importance and notified, in the heart of the historic center just 50 meters from Piazza Pitti, we rented for short periods beautiful tastefully decorated apartment. Located in district d' Oltrarno, the most characteristic quarters of Florence, under the house with all services (bus, chemist, supermarket, banks, etc..), a few steps from Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Santo Spirito and the most important monuments and museums of Florence. It consists of entrance hall, bathroom with shower, kitchen with all appliances, large living room with sofa bed, double room, and bedroom with single bed and a half (120x190). we had a wonderful stay at David's apt.' He was such a gracious host.David answered all and any question we had from restaurants to grocery stores to tours. My family and I high recommend this location.
We loved David's charming Florence apartment! The location was so convenient to all the sights and yet, it was away from the tourist crowds. We did not experienced the garbage truck noise that a previous guest mentioned. In fact, all 5 of us slept very well for all 3 nights that we stayed. The full size kitchen was a treat; One night, we were able to make dinner with groceries from the supermarket that David told us about. David was a great host and easy to contact. We would stay again in a heartbeat!
Wow. What an amazing place to stay. Built 20 years before Columbus discovered America. Beautiful, spacious, only 5 minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio and a few more to the centre of town. Absolutely enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend it to anyone.
David met us at the apartment and offered recommendations for restaurants and coffee shops, etc.The Santo Spirito neighborhood is interesting, and we enjoyed morning coffee at Ricco's in the piazza. Some things you should know: Right in front of the apartment there are, unfortunately, four huge recycling areas that create unsettling noise during the evening/night. When local cafes/restaurants/bars close around midnight, they all dump wine bottles, then later the city trucks pick up and redump into their vehicles - - very noisy. We were not able to sleep through even one night while we were there. Also be aware that the A/C is inadequate, more like a fan that runs constantly. Wireless only works in the kitchen.
Dear Linda, I'm really sorry you had a stay so disastrous, but I would clarify a few things: If I had prepared a beautiful airconditioned room perfectly working with double window to muffle the noise of the city of Florence and you slept on the sofa bed in the living room!?! Why? The air condition was in fan mode and the wifi in my telephone works in the living too. Anycase Thanks again for stayng in my apartment.
Wonderful apartment -- so spacious after the studios we'd stayed at earlier in the trip. David was a wonderful host and did everything he could to make our stay pleasant.
This historic apartment in Florence is walking distance from the museums and train station, and is a good base for touring. We got there just as the weather was getting hot, and it turned out that the air conditioning was only on the main level of the apartment, while the bedrooms are upstairs. It was a little stuffy upstairs, but definitely livable. The wifi only worked in the kitchen and upstairs, so you can't sit on the couch and check email. One of the stairwell landings is not lit, so at night it's a bit dark if you walk up (the elevator is tiny). It wasn't a problem, since we had our cellphone flashlights with us.
All in all, this is a pleasant, well-equipped apartment. David is a great host, with excellent restaurant recommendations and a raft of great ideas on what to see and do. Whenever we had any questions, he was easily reachable and responded right away.
David was a great host. He was fairly flexible regarding check-in and provided great tips about Florence and received us with a bottle of Chianti. The apartment is really well located, just 1 min to Pitti palace and 3-5 to Ponte Vechio. It is in a very lively neighborhood full of bars and restaurants and a good mix of tourists an locals. The apartment is good, with no luxury. Common areas are quite spacious. It has the feeling of staying in a Italian family home - not a fancy hotel. It is on a very old building, carrying a cool charm.
David is a great host. He met us promptly at the apartment and gave us a thorough introduction to the workings of the apartment and tips for places to eat and sites to see. He is very responsive and helpful. The apartment has all the basic essentials and well located with easy access to buses and short walks to most points of interest. The small bakery/chocolate shop across the street is a must for croissant enthusiasts. The bottle of Chianti is a nice welcoming touch.
Great place to stay in Florence!
The flat is quite near every tourist attraction - you don't need public transport to reach anywhere if you enjoy walking. The neighbourhood is very calm and there is everything you need nearby.
The flat itself is huge! It can hold many people, there are 2 separate rooms and a big living room.
There is WiFi too.
I didn't have any problems and David is a great guy who welcomes you when you arrive.
