David was right on time meeting us at the apartment and he showed us everything we needed to know about the apartment. The apartment was perfect for what we needed! It has two bedrooms upstairs, and 2 large closets for storing clothes on the main floor. The location of the apartment was great!! Very short walk to Boboli Gardens, Piazza Santa Spirito and to the bridge where you can see the Ponte Vecchio. Being on the non tourist side of the bridge was nice... Less crowded and cheaper prices in restaurants. Gusta Pizza, Gusta Osterio and Gusta Panino were excellent and within .2 miles of apartment. David also gave us several recommendations on places to eat that we loved and where to grocery shop.
The apartment does have internet and there is an elevator if you don't feel like climbing the steps. Having a washing machine made packing easier knowing we could do laundry if needed.
If you plan to take day trips, it is about a mile to the train and bus station and you will pass the oldest pharmacy in the world and walk past Santa Maria Novella on the way. It is an hour and a half train ride to Rome and about an hour bus ride to Pisa.
Florence is small enough to walk everywhere you want to go. Just wonder and explore. Make sure you find your way to Michelangelo Piazzale overlook....truly amazing views of the city.
We would definitely stay in this apartment again if we are lucky enough to get back to this charming city.
I enjoyed my stay at David's apartment, which is a loft with a small bedroom & a tiny adjacent sleeping area upstairs. The kitchen & shower area are decent size & the location is only 10 min walk to all the attractions.
Everything was provided & he personally checked me in & explained everything. I was only one person, so I chose to use the pullout couch in the living room, mostly because the staircase is very narrow & didn't want make bathroom trips late at night.
David was a great host. He made us welcome by knowing who we were, responding to our queries but never being over attentive. We enjoyed the area immensely, being off the main tourist map and yet within a few minutes' walk of seemingly everywhere. The spaghetti pomodoro at Osteria Santo Spirito is just fabulous-and it's a three minute walk from the apartment.
We have stayed with David before in another appartment. We return, knowing it will be good! David is a very kind and gentle man, very helpful with information about the neighbourhood and full of good recommendations for restaurants.
The apartment used to belong to his parents and he grew up as a child here. His sister lives next door. The place gives a feeling of being at home. Best neighbourhood in Florence! Quiet at night, lively with a market around the corner, supermarket close by. Lots of restaurants at walking distance in the Oltrarno area. The museums etc at walking distance. We hope to return!
David is the best host my wife and I have seen so far. His suggestions made us feel welcome in the city, and it allows us to submerge into quiet music of Florence nicely and pleasantly.
The place is elegant and warm. The restaurants are charming.
David was very welcoming, always ready to help. David's apartment in a former 'palazzo' is large, has plenty of light and is nicely presented. Although the main bedroom faces the street you don't hear a noise because the windows have double glazing. With thousands of eating choices to chose from in Florence, his restaurants' recommendations were spot on. The apartment's location is superb. I'll stay at this apartment again next time I'm in Firenze.
