About This Listing
Just a 20 minute drive from Bordeaux (a car is necessary) I have, in my charming old stone country home, two big, sunny bedrooms to let, each with a copious breakfast for two. Both rooms have a garden view and comfortable queen size double beds. There is a third, smaller bedroom available as well and group rates for three to five guests travelling together. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs (with a bath) and the other downstairs (with a spacious shower). You are welcome to use the TV and computer, the garden for barbecues and the kitchen for cooking. I will be happy to help you out planning your trip, reserving wine tastings in local wineries, sharing my knowledge of the area.
La Brede is a quiet town with everything you need within a 5 minute walk from the house. There are several restaurants and cafes, a local pizzeria. If you want to cook at home, you may do your shopping in local shops and a modern supermarket. There are also a 12th century church and the famous French Philosopher Montesquieu's fairytale like castle to visit.
The house is an hour's drive from Arcachon (with its delicious seafood restaurants and the largest sand dune in Europe) on the Atlantic coast to the west. It is 20 minutes from the center of Bordeaux and an hour from Saint Emilion to the east. Saint Emilion is a quaint, medieval village visited by travellers from around the world, famous for its wine and its monolithic church.
So if you want an authentic French country experience relaxing in a stone home over 100 years old, this is the place for you!

Maison calme ...A la Brede , C'est comme à la maison !!! Je recommande vraiment notre hôte...
My husband and I were two very weary travelers when we first arrived at Pamela's La Brède home and couldn't have been more grateful for our host's warmth, kindness and conversation. While the home does have some quirks, we felt that they are fairly presented in the home's description. If anything, the, host, backyard, bedrooms, and overall experience exceeded our expectations. As a couple of American travelers looking for an authentic Bordeaux country stop with a host who provided great local insight, we couldn't have found a better place. We hope to see Pamela again in the future.
MERCI.
Very homely welcome! Having worked in hotels I tend to avoid them when I can. Pamela's house couldn't be further away from them. It was like staying at a friend's house. Clean and very spacious rooms, gigantic bathroom and a entire floor just for us. Her breakfast is a feast and her advice and help priceless. Needless to say we have already booked our next visit there!
We spent three wonderful nights at Pamela home. Every morning we woke up in the bright sunshine, she prepared for us fresh crunchy baguettes, each evening we dragged tired bodies back, she poured for us red wine or hot tea. Value of traveling lies not only witnessing the beautiful sceneries, but also having the good memories. And here is the place we store our beautiful memories.
