Just a 20 minute drive from Bordeaux (a car is necessary) I have, in my charming old stone country home, two big, sunny bedrooms to let, each with a copious breakfast for two. Both rooms have a garden view and comfortable queen size double beds. There is a third, smaller bedroom available as well and group rates for three to five guests travelling together. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs (with a bath) and the other downstairs (with a spacious shower). You are welcome to use the TV and computer, the garden for barbecues and the kitchen for cooking. I will be happy to help you out planning your trip, reserving wine tastings in local wineries, sharing my knowledge of the area.
La Brede is a quiet town with everything you need within a 5 minute walk from the house. There are several restaurants and cafes, a local pizzeria. If you want to cook at home, you may do your shopping in local shops and a modern supermarket. There are also a 12th century church and the famous French Philosopher Montesquieu's fairytale like castle to visit.
The house is an hour's drive from Arcachon (with its delicious seafood restaurants and the largest sand dune in Europe) on the Atlantic coast to the west. It is 20 minutes from the center of Bordeaux and an hour from Saint Emilion to the east. Saint Emilion is a quaint, medieval village visited by travellers from around the world, famous for its wine and its monolithic church.
So if you want an authentic French country experience relaxing in a stone home over 100 years old, this is the place for you!
Very homely welcome! Having worked in hotels I tend to avoid them when I can. Pamela's house couldn't be further away from them. It was like staying at a friend's house. Clean and very spacious rooms, gigantic bathroom and a entire floor just for us. Her breakfast is a feast and her advice and help priceless. Needless to say we have already booked our next visit there!
We spent three wonderful nights at Pamela home. Every morning we woke up in the bright sunshine, she prepared for us fresh crunchy baguettes, each evening we dragged tired bodies back, she poured for us red wine or hot tea. Value of traveling lies not only witnessing the beautiful sceneries, but also having the good memories. And here is the place we store our beautiful memories.
Pam's home is very comfortable and ideally suited in a wonderful wine tasting region. The room is very spacious and the bathroom is large and very comfortable. She is generous with shares use of her kitchen, patio and laundry room. Pam was a wonderful host. Thank you for sharing your charming French home!
Très agréable séjour et Pamela est aux petits soins : comme à la maison ! Notre petite fille a beaucoup apprécié la visite du jardin et la dégustation de mûres sauvages !
A very warm welcome in a charming old house with a breakfast, we really enjoyed, thanks.
Right half way between Bordeaux and Arcachon.
On garde l'adresse!
Our stay at Pamela's has been really regenerating. The house is very nice, the rooms big and comfortable with a wonderful view on the garden, really green at this spring time. Breakfast is good and doesn't miss anything. Pamela doesn't hesitate to put us comfortable, by proposing us to use the kitchen if needed, make a picnic in the garden or use the DVD player for the children cartoons.
It is a perfect break for person of any ages, couples or even families. We'll definitely keep the address!
Pamela is a warm, welcoming host that I enjoyed staying with. Her home is in the middle of the countryside of Bordeaux in a quiet town. The rooms are very comfortable and clean - perfect for a weekend away. I highly recommend this listing if you are looking to stay outside of the city of Bordeaux.
