It is a very quiet place in a nice neighborhood with a lovely view of Bishops Peak from the studio and access to the trails through the neighborhood. Trail views are epic and it is a nice hike to gorgeous scenery and photo ops. In the springtime the wildflowers along the trails are stunning and will be sure to put a big smile on your face. We happily provide hiking information since we frequently walk the trails. Be sure to bring good walking shoes, sun block and a hat if you want to try some of the trails. I also recommend you bring layered clothing and especially jacket/windbreaker for nighttime and mornings, SLO gets very cold at night even in the summer months. If you paint, bring a camera to capture inspirational photos because the setting is magical. There are also plenty of bike trails.
The beach is 10 minutes away and the sunsets on the coast are truly fantastic.
Downtown SLO is 2 miles away and it is an exceedingly vibrant downtown with great restaurants, movie and coffee houses, and is simply nice to walk around. Farmer's Market is every Thursday from 6pm-9pm, live entertainment, great food and interesting people.
The studio is 13 miles from Pismo Beach, 16 miles from Arroyo Grande, 13 miles from Morro Bay, 33 miles from Cambria, 29 miles from Paso Robles, and 94 miles from Santa Barbara - and is exactly between San Francisco and L.A.
If you just want to get away and spend a quiet time in a beautiful place this is the spot for you.

This studio with private patio was probably our most relaxing part of our roadtrip! Melanie and her husband were very welcoming and she even made towel figurines of birds and a heart since it was our honeymoon. She provided a lot of recommendations for places to eat and drink in SLO, as well as hikes and views around the area which was much appreciated. The snack and toiletries were such a thoughtful gesture and came in handy. Unfortunately it rained so we couldn't hike Bishop Peak but the views from the studio were spectacular. The bed was very comfortable and the studio was very clean.
This place is amazing. Inside is elegant, cosy and funktions perfectly. We spent a lot of time outside, where there is a beautyful view and sun from early morning. The hosts are more than friendly and give great advice on how to enjoy the area around san luis obispo.
Beautiful studio! Conveniently close to everything we wanted to do. The trailheads are just a minute away. After a strenuous hick up Bishops peak, we enjoyed lovely views and lunch on the patio which was so convenient to fix since the kitchenette is stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. Melanie's concern for her guests comfort will exceed your expectation. Genuinely altruistic!
I am new to AirBnb, but this was the best experience I have had thus far. Upon arrival, Melanie's husband was very kind and introduced himself. He made you feel very welcome. The studio itself was very clean and adorable. She had a couple little baskets with snacks and toiletry items which were very handy. She also provided 2 water bottles and information about the area which I thought was very kind. Overall, it was beautiful and had a wonderful view and I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking to stay in the San Luis Obispo area.
Melanie & Scott personally welcomed us the moment we drove up their driveway. The beautiful Studio with the most charming patio along the marvelous views, exceeded every expectation. Their goal was to be consistent, responsive, value and most of all to make our experience memorable. Every detail was taken into consideration. Right down to where to get a good cup of coffee. I must mention, her cupboard was well stocked with fresh ground coffee, a variety of munchies. I can't say enough about this jewel. The neighborhood was walkable, safe, walking trails just beyond the gate. We're golfers, we had three courses in the area to enjoy, played three of our five days.
Our host prepared a fabulous breakfast for us, one day before our departure. It wasn't expected but; we were delighted to receive the invitation, the opportunity to chat with our host and get to know both was a treasure.
We plan on returning next summer. We both agree, a ️️️️️ rating is justified.
My husband and I spent 10 days driving up the coast, and staying at Melanie and Scott's was truly one of the highlights. They are some of the kindest, most welcoming people. We LOVED the studio (it's incredibly peaceful) and had some of the best nights of sleep on the AMAZING bed. The patio was a dream, with a hammock and an area to dine al fresco, and orange trees were recently planted, too, which we were fascinated by, being from the East Coast.
The recommendations that Melanie had were spot-on; we wished we had been able to stay an extra night or two to spend time with them as well as try out more of the places around SLO. The studio's location is ideal, and we had a blast hiking Bisop's Peak, which is very close. Also, we fell in love with Scout's Coffee--definitely a must-visit place for coffee lovers.
We can't recommend staying here enough; we definitely want to come back!
This was our 2nd stay at the studio. It was inviting, clean and a perfect stay as we experienced in the past. Melanie met us when we arrived and made us feel like family. She and Scott do an exceptional job of making you feel at home but definitely giving you space. the patio was a great place for a cup of coffee and a magazine. The area is quiet with a great view.
About the Host, Melanie
Hello! I do jewelry design and teach my techniques nationally and internationally and receive great fulfillment from my work. I have lived in SLO for 22 years and absolutely enjoy it. I am a lover of Jesus, and appreciate studying the NIV translation of the Bible. I am married to a very loving, charming and handsome husband named Scott.
As a host I treat my guests as I would like to treated. Hospitality is a fine art of graciousness and I take joy in giving and receiving it. The other golden rule I strive to follow is "in humility consider others better than ourselves." Philippians 2:3
As a guest, I believe I am considerate. I have respect for other's property and belongings as if they were my own. I do like my privacy especially when I am traveling on business and like having quiet evenings to decompress, read and relax.
