This is a detached private studio with 500 sq. ft. and it's own entrance and patio in the back of our home next to "green space". It sits in a lovely neighborhood 2 miles from downtown SLO and Cal Poly University. There is off-street parking provided for one vehicle. The studio includes a queen bed, bathroom with shower, dining table with two chairs and kitchenette. The kitchenette includes a small fridge, microwave, full size sink and dishes/utensils and other culinary tools. Coffee and tea with fixings are provided for our guests. A press pot with hot water kettle or drip coffee machine are provided to make coffee/tea. There is a large closet in the main living area. There is a folding luggage rack and iron/board for your use stored in the bathroom closet. Our guests get a freshly made bed with cotton linens and towel sets for the bathroom.
There is a DVD player with some complimentary movies and large flat screen TV however NO CABLE so only a few channels are accessible. Wireless internet is also provided. You can also connect your laptop to the flat screen and play movies for a nice movie experience if you subscribe to a movie service such as Netflix.
The patio has a teak table with four chairs that's great for dining. For Al Fresco dining, we can make a BBQ grill with stove-top available upon request. You can open the french doors for a nice experience. An umbrella is available depending on the season, as well as a hammock with pillows.
There is a bus stop close by on the main street. It is also near Cuesta College and highway 1. Close by are also a number of good restaurants and wineries including Edna Valley Vineyard .
This place is best suited for a single person or couple with possibly one child. Parties are not allowed.
It is a very quiet place in a nice neighborhood with a lovely view of Bishops Peak from the studio and access to the trails through the neighborhood. Trail views are epic and it is a nice hike to gorgeous scenery and photo ops. In the springtime the wildflowers along the trails are stunning and will be sure to put a big smile on your face. We happily provide hiking information since we frequently walk the trails. Be sure to bring good walking shoes, sun block and a hat if you want to try some of the trails. I also recommend you bring layered clothing and especially jacket/windbreaker for nighttime and mornings, SLO gets very cold at night even in the summer months. If you paint, bring a camera to capture inspirational photos because the setting is magical. There are also plenty of bike trails.
The beach is 10 minutes away and the sunsets on the coast are truly fantastic.
Downtown SLO is 2 miles away and it is an exceedingly vibrant downtown with great restaurants, movie and coffee houses, and is simply nice to walk around. Farmer's Market is every Thursday from 6pm-9pm, live entertainment, great food and interesting people.
The studio is 13 miles from Pismo Beach, 16 miles from Arroyo Grande, 13 miles from Morro Bay, 33 miles from Cambria, 29 miles from Paso Robles, and 94 miles from Santa Barbara - and is exactly between San Francisco and L.A.
If you just want to get away and spend a quiet time in a beautiful place this is the spot for you.
Our guests enjoy their own parking space close to the studio, their own private patio with table and hammock and a private entrance to their own studio.
We greet our guests upon arrival.
Very quiet and pretty neighborhood situated near lovely views of Bishop Peak and other pastoral scenes.
A couple of bus stops for transportation around city are nearby within walking distance of a couple of blocks.

I really enjoyed my second stay at Melanie's studio while on business in SLO. The view, the morning walks, the privacy and quiet. Oh and the Cuban coffee is delicious.
I was disappointed when I could not book the time I wanted to come back in April because it was already occupied.
The studio is a gem and I look forward to staying again sometime in the future.
This studio was our first experience using Airbnb, and I must say, it was a very favorable one. The studio is small, but new and perfectly appointed. It was extremely clean, and the outdoor patio with furniture looked out onto a beautiful wild space with Bishop's Peak in the near distance. Not a detail was overlooked: the spare toiletries, the nightlight in the bathroom, the basket of snacks in the kitchen, and the individual coffee cream tubs in the fridge. The kitchen even contained a small toaster oven and coffee mill! The setting for the studio is lovely, quiet, and very peaceful indeed. Definitely worth a repeat visit!
We stayed for 3 nights and we were very pleased with the accommodations. The suite was very clean and had superior furnishings. We enjoyed the use of the private patio on a number of occasions. The location is excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend their home to a friend.
Everything it appears to be and more!
This is the perfect spot for a SLO get away. I booked the trip last minute for work. It is a little studio in the back of Melanie's home. It is adorable, comfortable and tucked in the back enough that you still get privacy. The patio is adorable and the linens and amenities comparable to a 5 star hotel. Melanie was friendly, flexible, responsive and full of hospitality. I will surely return next time I'm in the area for work or otherwise.
This was our first time using airbnb and let me tell you, Melanie and Scott set the standards HIGH. They were so very gracious and hospitable. Melanie came out to greet us when we arrived and walked us back to the studio. Right away we felt so BLESSED to have found Melanie & Scott's place.
I planned this trip as an early surprise Valentines getaway for my Husband. I asked Melanie if she would be willing to do a few extra things to make it extra special for V-Day and she went above and beyond what I could have imagined.
The studio itself is just PERFECT for 2. Has EVERYTHING you need! She even includes 2 bottled waters, snacks and little toiletries, incase you forget yours. I can't think of a hotel or resort who does that anymore without charging you. The bed and shower were so fresh and clean, this is a HUGE deal with me.
Our hearts sing with gratitude for people like you!!
I cannot tell you enough about this place. We will most definitely be back.
Thank You so very much Scott and Melanie♡♡
My wife and I decided to have a little weekend getaway to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We somehow landed on SLO as our destination. We made the right choice! Despite the rainy weather and not being able to hike Bishop's Peak, we were able to have a great time. (Of course we were thankful for the rain!) Melanie and Scott are the sweetest couple and they set the bar for AirBnB hosts! We were blown away by how terrific their studio was. The studio was beautifully furnished complete with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Private parking in their driveway made it easy to come and go without worry. We appreciated the treats in the kitchenette as well as the toiletries in the bathroom. Not to mention the softest bath towels ever. We were so impressed with how organized she kept everything. (Wife is a teacher and loves to label things too!) We absolutely LOVED staying at their studio and wished we could have stayed longer! perhaps one day!
I stay in quite a few smaller vacation rentals when I am on business. First off they are quite difficult to find, because most rentals cater to larger groups.
Melanie's Studio was perfect. Very clean, well appointed, quiet and private. I spent some time working on my computer and the small dining room table worked perfectly. The internet is very fast.
Another great bonus is the view out the windows and French doors of the hills of San Luis Obispo.
Melanie had a list of restaurants, coffee houses and hikes which is always helpful to visitor's
Also included was a basket of snacks, fresh Cuban coffee and personal needs in the bathroom if you forgot yours.
I look forward to another trip to San Luis and would not hesitate to stay at Scott and Melanie's studio again.
My husband and I could not have been more comfortable in this well thought out and efficient space which is beautifully decorated.
Also Melanie and Scott were so responsive and helpful!
Location is fantastic, convenient to everything! We hope we can go back soon!
I will echo many of Melanie's positive reviews. She and her husband definitely pay attention to detail. The room is simple but very nice. The bathroom has a great shower and is stocked with good towels, extra toiletries and toothbrush. The kitchenette has tea, coffee, snacks and the bed is quite comfortable. The fact that a picturesque hiking trail is just minutes away is another bonus. Very much enjoyed our stay.
