Where you’ll be

New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

Our neighborhood is one of the most vibrant in new orleans. You can find almost everything within walking distance. lots of restaurants and shops..unique boutiques or chain stores. just walk one block and you are amongst the historic mansions of the Garden District, great for an evening stroll. Or grab the magazine st. red bus and hop on and off if you see something you want to explore. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops. You can ride the St. Charles street car to French Quarter.

I am a painter (of the artistic variety) and my studio is in the main house. I have decorated the apartment with some of my work and often change things around, so the photos of the interior may differ from what you experience. I am British and met my husband in art school. Jeff works in the movie business as a prop maker and set builder. My husband and I have been restoring the house for several years now. We bought it in derelict condition and have slowly been resurrecting it. The apartment is what remains of the old slave quarters/service wing, which used to extend further into the garden. The original owner (a tobacco merchant, circa 1858) built this house and the large apartment building next door (the same fence spans both properties). Our next big project is restoring the front galleries (porches have no supporting columns, but galleries do! In case you wondered) which originally had lacey arched iron work. Staying with us helps us do that! The house is listed on the National Historic Register, notable for the architect Henry Howard.
