In being full of plants and paintings the apartment has a real home feel, plus it has the added cachet of having its own large private terrace. There's an extra sense of privacy because the apartment is on the top floor of an eight story building, (and yes there is an elevator). There is a bright kitchen and beautiful bathroom with the original antique tiles and fixtures. The apartment's large main room is very comfortable and has a zen feel in being so open and roomy. Lots of natural light, thanks to the many windows, creates a sense of expansiveness by day. By night, lots of small lights spread about the apartment makes the feeling intimate. There are great views, and especially so from the terrace. Its a quiet, secure building (only three apartments on each floor) in a quiet, upscale neighborhood.
Its fully furnished; with all bedding and linens provided, As well as wireless hi-speed internet with unlimited downloading, there a residential telephone that comes with unlimited North America long distance and Voice Mail. There is a TV, DVD player, and amplified speakers for you to plug to your computer, I pod or phone and also an alarm clock radio. The bed is queen sized. The kitchen has every dish, pan, and utensil to cook whatever, as well as a microwave, blender, toaster etc.. The laundry room is in the basement. There is lots of closet space, an ironing board and iron, and also a folding rack for air drying delicates.
Staying in of an evening?; well the bookcase is full of interesting books and DVDs. A real home from home. If you jog or like walks in nature, all you have to do is go up the staircase at the end of the block and then you are on Pine avenue and a hop away from paths that crisscross the mountain that reigns over Montreal.
The Golden Mile is so peaceful and serene in being perched on the south slope of the mountain, with the advantage of being right next to the bustle and action that downtown Montreal has to offer. A five minute walk to Sherbrooke Street, restaurants, cafes, chic boutiques and the magnificent Museum of Fine Art (It hosts a wonderful large and free-to-view permanent collection - too much to see in one visit! - and there is also always a touring exhibit). It's a ten minute walk to Peel Metro. Also very close to the McGill and Concordia university campuses.
Grocery deliveries are available from PA Supermarket (they take telephone orders and are the best in Montreal), located on du Fort near Ste Catherine. Mourelatos is also a good supermarket, located a little closer on Ste Catherine just east of Guy
. If you have a car there is no reserved parking, but if you are coming and going outside of business hours, you'll always get a spot on the block near to the building. Like most big cities, downtown Montreal is best enjoyed without a car. The metro system is excellent and for the sporty there is Montreal's cool curbside self serve 'Bixi' bicycle rental system. And yes Montreal in summer is like a resplendent butterfly, quite the spectacle to behold....come and savor from the Penthouse!
No smoking indoors; out on the terrace is okay.
Patrick's was great. We are a young couple who stayed for a month over Christmas and New Years. He was prompt in replying to any questions we had but mostly left us to enjoy the apartment. It's not a modern building but we found it very cosy and loved its location. We would love to stay here again. It really felt like home.
The studio was in a superb location, walking distance to McGill University, downtown Montreal and Mount Royal. Patrick left the keys in a mailbox for us to pick up, which was convenient enough. The studio itself was spacious, with comfortable bed and couch. It was somewhat old, so the shower and water faucets were quirky, and the doors were a little drafty (with Montreal's cold air and howling wind). Overall, a good stay.
Had a great time in the penthouse. The location is amazing for anyone looking to explore Montreal. Patrick was very accommodating and made sure we didn't have any questions left unanswered. The apartment is really cool and great to relax in. The views from the deck are amazing and I would recommend staying there anyone visiting Montreal.
The flat is in an excellent location, within walking distance of McGill University and le musee des beaux-arts. The apartment is spacious and open. I had a comfortable stay. Patrick was easy to communicate with and helpful.
I stayed here for 10 nights by myself to visit a friend in the city. Patrick was very welcoming and didn't seem to mind that I was late arriving - he met me there and showed me around and pointed out where to get groceries.
The apartment is warm and cosy, bright, very comfortable and has a lot of character. Towels, blankets, and some toiletries were all provided and there were some basic cooking ingredients in the cupboards and fridge.
It soon felt like a home from home and really is in a great location for exploring Montreal, with the park just behind and the nearest metro station 10 minutes away on foot.
Patrick was a very accommodating and pleasant host and if I return to the city I'll definitely be looking to come back to this apartment.
Great little apartment in a very convenient location! Patrick welcomed us warmly and gave us some tips about the city. All in all a great stay.
Patrick is a great communicator and this apartment is everything he says it is; spacious, airy, eclectically decorated and the terrace is fantastic. However, it has certainly seen better days. The location is tops in every sense, especially if you like views and it is just a hop skip and jump to the outstandingly beautiful Royal park on the hill overlooking the city. Patrick very kindly gave us a lift to the train station on the morning of our departure.
