In being full of plants and paintings the apartment has a real home feel, plus it has the added cachet of having its own large private terrace. There's an extra sense of privacy because the apartment is on the top floor of an eight story building, (and yes there is an elevator). There is a bright kitchen and beautiful bathroom with the original antique tiles and fixtures. The apartment's large main room is very comfortable and has a zen feel in being so open and roomy. Lots of natural light, thanks to the many windows, creates a sense of expansiveness by day. By night, lots of small lights spread about the apartment makes the feeling intimate. There are great views, and especially so from the terrace. Its a quiet, secure building (only three apartments on each floor) in a quiet, upscale neighborhood.
Its fully furnished; with all bedding and linens provided, As well as wireless hi-speed internet with unlimited downloading, there a residential telephone that comes with unlimited North America long distance and Voice Mail. There is a TV, DVD player, and amplified speakers for you to plug to your computer, I pod or phone and also an alarm clock radio. The bed is queen sized. The kitchen has every dish, pan, and utensil to cook whatever, as well as a microwave, blender, toaster etc.. The laundry room is in the basement. There is lots of closet space, an ironing board and iron, and also a folding rack for air drying delicates.
Staying in of an evening?; well the bookcase is full of interesting books and DVDs. A real home from home. If you jog or like walks in nature, all you have to do is go up the staircase at the end of the block and then you are on Pine avenue and a hop away from paths that crisscross the mountain that reigns over Montreal.
The Golden Mile is so peaceful and serene in being perched on the south slope of the mountain, with the advantage of being right next to the bustle and action that downtown Montreal has to offer. A five minute walk to Sherbrooke Street, restaurants, cafes, chic boutiques and the magnificent Museum of Fine Art (It hosts a wonderful large and free-to-view permanent collection - too much to see in one visit! - and there is also always a touring exhibit). It's a ten minute walk to Peel Metro. Also very close to the McGill and Concordia university campuses.
Grocery deliveries are available from PA Supermarket (they take telephone orders and are the best in Montreal), located on du Fort near Ste Catherine. Mourelatos is also a good supermarket, located a little closer on Ste Catherine just east of Guy
. If you have a car there is no reserved parking, but if you are coming and going outside of business hours, you'll always get a spot on the block near to the building. Like most big cities, downtown Montreal is best enjoyed without a car. The metro system is excellent and for the sporty there is Montreal's cool curbside self serve 'Bixi' bicycle rental system. And yes Montreal in summer is like a resplendent butterfly, quite the spectacle to behold....come and savor from the Penthouse!
This is a very peaceful location. High on the hill on a street that dead-ends onto the parkland mountain. Patrick is a gentle and considerate host.
This studio room was perfect for our quick visit to Montreal. It is spacious, has lots of natural lighting, and came with everything we required. It is in a very good location allowing us to walk to pretty much anywhere downtown we wanted to go. Patrick was a great host, he was flexible with check in/ check out time and we felt comfortable contacting him with any concerns (though we didn't have any). Highly recommended!
Patrick's apartment was exactly what we were looking for. It was clean and came with everything we required. The apartment was filled with plants and felt like a home for the few days we stayed. The apartment was full of natural light and we enjoyed the sitting area. The bed mattress seemed like a futon mattress and was not the most comfortable but not a major issue for us.
This was our first time using airbnb and we will definitely use it again after this positive experience. Patrick was quick to respond to any inquiries and accommodated our arrival time. Thanks Patrick!
The apartment served our needs very well. Patrick was a wonderful host, who was flexible, accommodating, and eager to share tips about visiting Montreal. It was a perfect amount of space for a couple, and the kitchen was very handy (but don't expect spotlessness). I would highly recommend this apartment and host.
I was seeking a few days of solitude and Patrick's place was *perfect*. Quiet, literally a few steps from the staircase up to the paths and trails of Parc Mont-Royal, and a short walk down the hill to a couple of my most-loved places to nourish my body (Noccochi and Crudessence). I loved being up high, having a clear, wide, open view, spaces to sit, work, read, reflect. The surrounding buildings, trees, offered a loveliness I also appreciated. I also deeply enjoyed various of the many pieces of art and presence decorating the walls. And was amused by the way they came into my awareness gradually, not having been noticed by me initially. Patrick is very warm, relaxed, open... and professional... every detail clear and attended to.
Patrick is a very nice host indeed. His beautiful spacious penthouse apartment has everything we need for our 42 days stay there. His apartment is bright, clean and has a big beautiful balcony for you to enjoy the outdoor space and breezy sunny weather. The location is very convenient for us to visit our daughter and also is within walking distance to Metro Guy Concordia. We enjoyed our stay so much and would loved to go back next time.
This apartment is great for a weekend away. The location is the best! We felt safe and accessible to the city at the same time. For example, at the bottom of the hill is a sculpture garden associated with the art museum and at the top is stairs up to Mount Royal.
Also the patio is great for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning or watching the sun set before going out on the town. Patrick was hospitable and always available for questions.
Would stay again in this apartment.
Je recommande cet appartement.
The location was perfect, just below Mont Real and just above musee de beaux arts. We were easily able to walk everywhere. The apartment was quiet and full of light with a beautiful terrace. We ate cherry tomatoes from the terrace plants for breakfast!
There are books and plants that made the place feel like home.
Our stay with Patrick was very positive. The apartment is in an older building, but is clean and spacious inside. It has a ton of natural light and a beautiful view off of the patio. The metro is only a couple of blocks away, ditto for a bixi station, meaning getting around Montreal is very easy. Patrick provides quite a bit, including full kitchen (incl. toaster and microwave), bedding, towels and even a few toiletries. Super quiet at night, but only a short walk away from a good strip full of bars and restaurants. The mountain is also very close, great for morning walks. Would stay again.
