About this listing
We have a very comfortable house that was built in 1969. It's not beautiful, nor a manor, but it is very clean and filled with happiness, two cats and a house rabbit. We welcome people to come in and feel at home. There's lots of space and I'm usually hibernating in my bedroom or out and about, and my husband is usually either in his study downstairs or playing a gig. There is food and drink aplenty. Cook, watch TV, listen to music or hang out and read a book when you are there.
We live in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon near Tanasbourne. We have a nice garden, and a bus stop is down at the end of the street. We have two cats and a house rabbit, so warning: anyone with allergies should not stay here! However, all others should find their stay pleasant.
You have your own bedroom and own bathroom UNLESS you are sharing with another guest in your party, but the bathroom is across the hall, not immediately adjoining the bedroom. Your bedroom is at the end of the hall, sort of near ours but the house was built in 1969, so it's pretty quiet. The run of the house is yours otherwise except our bedroom and bathroom. Feel free to eat what's in the fridge or help yourself to beverages that are out. Think of us as distant cousins to stay with (and are helping out with expenses while you're here!)
Interaction with Guests
We both work full time so we are not home very often. I am out of the house Monday through Friday from 10:30 until 8:00 and my husband works from his home office downstairs so you only see him if you want to. On Mondays my husband teaches saxophone downstairs so it can be squawky from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Occasionally on Sundays there are jazz rehearsals with a 10 piece jazz ensemble. We BBQ then and have parties then so feel free to join in if you want! Basically we will try to stay out of your way while you are there.
It's your normal quiet suburban neighborhood with birds, trees, and nice neighbors. We are within 20 minutes walking distance of Tanasbourne Mall, and 10 minutes distance of a smaller little strip mall with a 7-11, Pizza Hut, and a mani-pedi place.
There is a bus stop 7 minutes walking distance from our front door that goes to the MAX, and then that heads downtown. It takes about an hour~ to get downtown using public transport.
Other Things to Note
A lot of people have inquired about transport. We have space available for parking, but please be aware, we are about 20-30 car minutes from downtown Portland depending on traffic, and about 90 minutes if you are using strictly public transport.
No smoking in the house: we do have a back patio where smoking can be accommodated. And yes, we are 420 friendly. It's Oregon after all and legal here. Sadly we cannot allow pets at this time due to the fact we have two cats, one quite elderly. We expect our guests to follow basic rules of camping etiquette: be nice to your fellow campers and try and leave the place as you find it. (we will take care of towel laundry and such, however)
