We were 6 to stay at miss lou's house and it was great. Miss lou is really nice. The place is not far from LSU by car. Everything is clean. The only thing that I can say is that we were 6 and there was one bed not very comfortable but we only stayed one night! I definitely recomand miss lou's house to stay in bâton rouge!
Hi Jennifer, the daybed is an antique and is made for a child. My grandchildren sleep on it all the time and they love it!!! I have slept on it and find it perfectly comfortable. It has a 4' memory foam topper, great sheets and a beautiful antique quilt! I explained the sleeping situation to you and what was available as far as the beds for your friends of 6 people and all was acceptable to you. All of our beds are great to sleep in and everyone wants to take them home with them!!!!! Tell Arthur the next time he comes, he can sleep on the queen size bed that is much more luxurious!!!
I had a great time with my girlfriend. We really enjoyed walking around the pond. There weren't as much mosquitoes as one would expect. The hosts were there to show us around when we arrived, and Ms. Lou gave us extra pillows. We were given privacy during our stay, so it was lucky timing on our side.
Andrea was very available for any question we could have before arrriving. We finally slept in her home. She had prepared one very nice little bed for our baby. She was also here preparing our breakfast. The 2 rooms were very cosy and clean of course, as well as the bathroom.
You need a car to get there.
We loved having each of you! Your family is wonderful! Thank you and you are always welcome back anytime. It is true, that Baton Rouge is a large city and to get to or from any other location around town or other areas such as New Orleans, Lafayette, the Gulf Coast, you do need a vehicle, just as you did coming from another city. But, all locations are in a very short distance! We love the location of our properties! Just a couple of minutes from I-12, 15 minutes from LSU. We are basically in the heart of the city and within minutes from anything your heart would desire to see or do!!! Also, it was only about a 2 minute drive to the grocery store that you went to. We are like any other city for travelers, you need a vehicle to get from one city to the next, just as your family did when arriving here! I think it would be wonderful to live in a place such as where you live in a wonderful country side community in France and to be able to walk to everything! I would love (email hidden)d we are looking forward to going back to France again! Your place is lovely and I hope you get to rent it out! Maybe we will get to see you when we come!!
Andy was the perfect host, and my group (which included a total of 10 graduate students) had a very nice stay in her beautiful home. She was incredibly hospitable, even getting us a couple air mattresses to make sure all of us had a place to sleep. She also bought us some bagels for breakfast :) If I ever stay in Baton Rouge again, I will be sure to try and stay at one of Andy's places again. Thank you for everything, Andy!
Miss Lou was a great and hospitable host, despite being sick on the night we stayed with her. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in Baton Rouge, we recommend staying at one of her places!
I stayed at this listing for a month while in Baton Rouge for a work assignment. We negotiated a fair price for my stay. Generally, I was satisfied. The backyard area is indeed pretty but didn't get to spend much time out there as I as there in Dec and Jan. If you book this, beware it is a shared living space. The accommodation is basically a three bedroom trailer tucked right behind a relative's home. All three bedrooms are rented individually. Two of them share a bath. I had the master bedroom suite which was spacious with a large private bath. Each room has it's own lock. You will share the common areas with whoever else is renting the other rooms. Kinda of like a roommate situation in college. The owner's husband also has an office in the home where he is most days until 6 or so. The home is somewhat dated, badly in need of an update. But the price was right and the located was ideal for access to my work and friends in neighboring city.
After reading Royce's review, I do not feel that he understands the Airbnb concept. The Airbnb concept is that people have homes, apartments etc. that have extra spaces and they rent those rooms out. It is something that we have found that allows us to help professionals either traveling or working in the area to have a comfortable, clean, quiet and peaceful place to stay. The Airbnb concept, unless it is rented as a vacation rental, is a shared living space situation. So I do not understand why he wrote to beware. This is what people are looking for when they go through Airbnb. And, has never been a problem with any of our guest before! Airbnb people are not looking for a Hotel/Motel type situation.
Before Royce decided to stay in our home, he knew that there was another professional staying in the house for a short time. That is the Airbnb concept. Under most circumstances, there is only one person staying there at a time. And once in a while there are a couple of people staying there mostly on a short term basis! The house is rented out by rooms. or the whole house can be rented out as a vacation rental. As he stated, any person staying there gets a key to the house of course but also a key to their bedroom to keep their room locked. He also knew that it was a double wide home and was given access to the photos of the house.
My husband is a book publisher and has a small office in the house. It has never been a problem with anyone staying at the house, because they never see him there and if they do, they welcome the company and someone to talk to and to say hello to. Royce saw my husband maybe a couple of times during the 6 or more weeks that he stayed in the house, because he was at work when my husband was at the office working on a book.
Another part of the Airbnb concept is that you are renting a room in someone's private home and so you are around those people constantly. You are basically living in someone else's home, you use their kitchen, their coffee pot, their refrigerator and you are with those people the whole time that you are staying in their home, mornings, evenings, weekends. But this way he had his privacy, and could cook his meals. He was basically getting a whole house but renting a room and was not around us the whole time he was staying there. Even with a bed and breakfast, you are getting a room and sharing the use of a home. We even welcomed his wife to come and stay with him during the holidays so they could be together and spend the hoidays with their family that live close by.
If the house was rented out as a Vacation Rental, where someone wanted the whole house to themselves. we would give them the whole house and not use the office during that time!
We rented the room to Royce at a much lower price than what we normally get and as I mentioned previously allowed his wife to stay and at no extra charge.
The home is not a trailer, but it is a double wide home with hard wood floors, new appliances, flat screen tv, basic cable and wifi. It is situated on a couple of acres of land that is shared by another family home on the front of the property. The other family home is an historic home. The home is in a country setting that is very well kept, and clean. It is constantly being maintained and worked on to add to the comfort and eye appeal of our guest. I disagree that it is badly in need of an update. We are constantly there maintaining the grounds and the house keeping things nice and comfortable for those staying at the house. It is a country home in a country setting and does not have the appearance of a contemporary, luxury type home.
We love the Airbnb concept! It is a great benefit to those traveling or working who are not wanting to stay in a Hotel/Motel and who like staying in someone's home and having the ability to be around other people. It also is a great benefit to those of us who have chosen to open our homes up to strangers and give them a safe and clean environment to stay in. It has always been so appreciated and welcomed by those who understand the concept that Airbnb has so generously offered to the those with homes and those needing a place to stay! We have always maintained a 5 star status with our guest and hopefully will continue to with this property and other properties we may have to offer.
