I stayed in Jackies apartment for 20 days, and I have to say that it was perfect for me (a middle-aged single artistic slightly bohemian woman). The apartment is simple but cosy and my room was almost as I had expected, not WOW, but fit for purpose. The bed is a bit hard but alright, on the down side - quite dark in the room cause the windows are facing walls. But who travels to Manhattan to stay indoors? I did not! The location is splendid, subway nearby, close to the riverside, Chinatown, Little Italy, Brooklyn, East Village ... hundreds of bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. It is impossible to have a boring moment in Lower Eastside. And Jackie is very friendly and most helpful! He knows where to drink the best coffee, where to eat good food, how to find this and that ... Jackie and his room mate made me feel comfortable and at home in the apartment. I sometimes cooked my food in the kitchen and I got a shelf in the fridge. Maybe younger people rather than middle aged will find this place suitable, some people in my age tend to be more demanding, but on the other hand - anyone can enjoy a stay at Jackies place because its nice and alright.
so far my experience with Jackie was really awesome.
He took care to fullfill all our wishes and it was great to have him as host for our first airbnb experience.
The room was comfortable and I would always stay here again as it was a pleasure to talk to him in the morning and when arriving back home in the evening.
All our questions and needs were handled with full satisfaction.
The location is perfect and close to Manhatten's central attractions (a lot can be reached by walking by, if not the metro is close to the flat).
Hope that we will meat each other again as it was a pleasure to meet him and his mate Adam.
Definitely a place I would always recommend to others!
Thanks again for all and hopefully we will meet each other again ;-)
Jackie is an attentive host and this is a great room at a great location at the lower east side...I would highly recommend this spot!
This is a lovely room and apartment in a quiet neighbourhood, but very close to the subway (especially good for taking the subway to and from JFK). This was great especially for my visit as it was FREEZING outside most of the time....also, the place was always warm and because of where the room is situated in the building, very quiet (that's a first for apartments I've stayed in NYC!) I never met Jackie as he was on vacation himself, but he was still very helpful through texts and surprisingly available for a person in a much different timezone! I didn't see his room mate much either, because I was out so much, but he seemed like a nice guy too. All in all very happy with my stay :)
Jackie was an excellent host! Although he was out of town and I did not get to meet him in person, he kept in close contact and made sure I was well taken care of. The apartment was exactly as described, and I enjoyed my stay. It was bitter cold that week, but the apartment was warm and quiet. Jackie's friend that checked me in, and his roommate, were very friendly and helpful.
I was working every day so I did not spend much time in the neighborhood, but it felt safe. Nearby on Grand St. I found Kossar's Bialys, which is wonderful - don't miss it if you like fresh bagels or bialys.
We really enjoyed our stay with Jackie. He is very friendly and you can ask him about anything. The communication went perfectly. His guestroom is small but the bed is very comfortable. The appartement is located in Lower East Side and you are in the middle of everything. You have quick connection to all directions by subway and you can even walk to trendy Soho in about 15 mins. I would recommend staying with Jackie if you are searching for a central located room and short ways to all important sights of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
As a start I can only thank Jackie (and Adam) for being really great hosts. You almost feel that you have the apartment to yourself yet they are present when you need help, so a really great sharing experience - thank you guys!.
The neighborhood is awesome with everything you need a short walk away - loved the 12 Corners coffee shop and Eastwood for the craft beers and good takeaway food.
And that fact that it is really close to the subway is the best of all.
I am a Chinese freelance photographer and creative, I work mostly in fashion and art.
I have a roommate and he is a fashion designer.we love the outdoors, good food with friends old and new, grabbing a glass of wine or sake in our neighborhood, and taking meandering bike rides around the city.
We'd love to meet you and share our city with you !
