Great location for exploring the area on bikes, (which can be securely stored in the garage). The apartment is light , airy and comfortable even during very hot weather and has everything you need if you are travelling light as we were. Good local facilities ie supermarket and bakers etc mean that a car is not essential also there is a good quiet out door space downstairs for relaxing in.

Pauline is a warm and friendly host, Roujan is a charming, working, rural village with friendly locals and is an excellent base for the Languedoc with a number of other attractions only a few hours or less away by car. A good value apartment to relax at the end of a day touring the region.

Pauline was there when we arrived. There were basic provisions in the kitchen including coffee, tea, wine, biscuits and butter. Nice soaps in the bathroom and plenty of cleaning materials. There were brochures for local attractions and local events and restaurants. The apartment was as described, perfectly clean, spacious and easy to manage. We loved the big windows and the bright light that filled all the rooms all day. There were good breezes during the day and the evenings. The kitchen was well supplied with cooking appliances and good knives! The flat was well located for everything in Roujan. You could walk everywhere. Roujan itself is in the centre of many very interesting small towns and villages, especially the delightful Pezenas. We drove to the sea in a half hour and to the mountains in less than an hour. This was a very comfortable flat, especially for us as a couple. We would certainly stay there again.

Our hostess, Pauline Mackenzie, was most generous and hospitable. The apartment we had was on the top (2nd) floor of her house, which is located on the main street, about 3 mins walk from the centre of the village of Roujan. The apartment was immaculately clean, and light, with a very comfy bed and a spare couch/bed in the lounge. The kitchen was well-equipped (as was the fridge!) for simple cooking, and the bathroom, though small, was as spotless as the rest of the apartment. The house itself is typical of a former wine-grower’s house in Roujan and other Languedoc villages: a very large ground-floor garage-cum-utilities space, formerly where wine would be produced and bottled. This looked out onto a well-kept, sunny garden. Living quarters were traditionally (and currently) on the upper two floors. Roujan is a very quiet village, so noisy late-night revellers were not a problem. It is well-situated for visiting local vineyards and chateaux, and the provincial ‘capital’ of Pézenas, with its many restaurants and bars, and fine Saturday market. But a car is fairly indispensable. Pauline was very kind and generous; thoughtful but without being at all intrusive. She let us feel very much ‘at home’ during our few days’ stay. Our trip was for personal not ‘happy holiday’ purposes, and she was very considerate in this regard. And she made sure we got our flight back from Béziers in good order! We’re envisaging a return to Roujan and her house. Regarding the neighbourhood, Roujan is fairly quiet, with few shops/restaurants, but a large supermarket, a couple of minutes’ walk from the house, was very convenient.
