Welcome! I live in the heart of the 7th ward.Minimal and sweet. I am a quiet, creative type, and keep to myself. I am a full time student studying Art History at UNO.You will have a private room, lockbox for easy coming and going, wifi, washer and dryer, and mere blocks from bicycle rental via Blue bikes, and a smidge of 10 minutes bike ride to the French Quarter! Welcome and Bienvenue! I will be here so, rest assured, you will not be alone! :)

The space
This is a brand new home and its filled with my books and simple kitchen items you are welcome to use.

This location is not in the heart of any tourist kind of district, yet close to everything! You can take uber or bicycle to get around. I, myself, don't own a car and bike everywhere.

I keep things open and airy in the house(ready, cozy and little furniture) because it makes me feel comfortable and happy to live a life (less) uncluttered.

Guest access
I have tea available for guests, and you are welcome to warm up with a cup whenever you like! I don't like microwaves so I don't own one. You can use the kitchen as you like and cook for yourself and store any food that you want. Please tidy up after yourself.
I also have a washer and dryer you are welcome to use.

Other things to note
The rooms I rent are minimal and clean with full size beds and each one with a door that closes and locks for privacy. I have a kitchen to share as well as a washer and dryer/wifi of course. I will sometimes leave a few dishes in the sink, but almost always finish them up by the evening. I would say its a typical household, I do all the cleaning myself and really hope each guest feels comfortable and like they have their basic needs met here. Safety, comfort, and ease.

Location

Seventh Ward, New Orleans, Louisiana

I live in a special neighborhood which has little old roads leading to many major getaway streets in New Orleans. By this I mean, you can get almost anywhere from my house! I am an easy bike ride or bus ride anywhere you want to go. French quarter and Bywater are about the same distance as getting to mid city or fairgrounds so this is a special location.
My neighborhood also has some blighted houses which can be a shock for most people from developed nations(including our own), but this is an unfortunate fact of life here in new Orleans-and one that the city and its people do care about-myself included. Having visitors and tourists here is a blessing because it brings life and joy to otherwise empty spaces. I hope that the potholes and the infrastructure don't inhibit you.

I also will say that my neighborhood is racially almost completely black. I respect my neighbors and the families and I will not tolerate any sort of, veiled or otherwise, racism against it. I feel safe here, welcomed, and unbothered by anyone except the occasional child running around my yard.

That being said, this is not a gentrified neighborhood.

Please try to not ask me something like "is this safe?" The answer to that is that you are the one responsible for yourself. No on can give you comfort or tell you where you are safe. I live here and bike everywhere. If you don't have a bike you can walk or take an uber.
That kind of question puts me in a lose-lose situation where if I say 'Yes', and you aren't comfortable then I look like a liar, and if I say 'No' and you are comfortable it looks like I just made a judgement about you. See how tricky that is?

Be aware, as you would anywhere in the world, and if you feel uncomfortable just take a cab. There is a blue bike rental very close to my house, also.
