Sahr was a very friendly host, always prompt to respond to questions and very helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable, and we really appreciated that the fridge was stocked with breakfast for the morning after our arrival. We definitely would have been happy to stay longer, or come visit again!
My partner and I stayed with Sahr because we needed a private, comfortable, and ideally located place to stay for a few days, a place to call home base during a transition. What we received far outpaced our expectations. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, clean, and well taken care of with plenty of space for work and relaxing. Having an entire floor to ourselves provided a much more homelike and private feel than a lot of other AirBnBs.
Furthermore, Sahr's hospitality was above and beyond, and she regularly went out of her way to ensure our comfort. We felt wonderfully at home and well taken care of. It was a pleasure to share her space.
Thank you very much for the wonderful few days!
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Sahr’s place. On arrival, we quickly found a parking spot on the other side of the block and later moved to a spot directly in front of the door. Sahr was a gracious host and provided welcoming refreshments. Everything in the unit was as described; it was very convenient having one and a half baths. Neither of us was around much during our stay, but communication via email and text was excellent with quick turnaround. Travel to Manhattan was easy via two nearby subway stops. Sahr provided us a with a long list with a wide range of nearby restaurants that she recommended, and we enjoyed eating at several of them.
We recommend this room for short stays, but it is really not equipped for stays over 1 week in length.
My friend and I leased this room for one month during a collegiate summer internship. Upon arrival, Ali was very welcoming, the room (smaller than anticipated) was clean, and she offered neighborhood advice which was very helpful. Within the hour, Ali left town and failed to mention the additional guest, a fully grown man, who was sharing the upstairs bathroom that had been advertised as for our sole use. Upstairs kitchen use is limited at best; Ali prefers that you wash any dishes in the downstairs pedestal sink. Given our longer stay she offered to wash our dishes, but soon retracted the offer and allowed us to use the upstairs sink instead. After the unexpected additional tenant (who stayed for over 1 week) had left, we encountered a few more issues including a leak in the basement wall and various large bugs (centipedes, spiders, and cockroaches). Ali also got a dog and started a vintage shop in the living room during our stay which we didn't mind, but was not mentioned in the ad. The addition of the dog also means there will be poop on the pavement in the advertised back garden. Another item of note is that the door separating the rented basement from the main floor is an accordion door with no acoustic insulation. Do not expect to have a private conversation or cell reception. Ali did provide first day gifts so that we did not have to immediately go to the grocery store which was very kind! And she allowed us to use the washer/dryer for our extended stay. The location is great and Ali and her son are both very nice hosts!
My friends and I had a lovely moment with Ali and her son.
They are really nice and helpfull.
If we'll come back to NYC, we'll go for sure by Ali.
Ali's place is very close from the subway (line C or A for the night), we was in manhattan in 10 minutes.
The neighborhood is very quiet and pleasant with a lot of pubs and restaurants.
The Brooklyn Waverly was a nice stay. Great location next to A and C train yet on a quiet and pretty street. Lots of great cafes and restaurants within walking distance and the Brooklyn Flea on Saturday was amazing.
Ali was very welcoming and the place is large and comfortable as shown in the pictures. They were very considerate towards me, I was often coming in late and they'd always leave the light on!

About the Host, Sahr
Greetings! I am working mother and artist who lives in one of he best neighborhoods in New York City with my teenaged son, Idriys, and our adorable toy poodle, Chester. We have been offering our properties since 2010. I am an actor and writer who is now beginning to study music. My son, Idriys, is my favorite thing. He loves art, sports, literature and music and is extremely good with small children (and animals) if you ever need a babysitter. We are a well traveled family having visited several countries on every continent except Australia (next stop :)). Idriys is studying Spanish, French, and Mandarin in school , and I am picking up a bit of each myself. We adopted our pup Chester in May 2015. He is a sweet dog who loves people and animals. He is very well-behaved and gives us and our guests love but also space. He's very cool, no begging or barking and very well-mannered. The perfect dog for us! In addition to travel we love good food, art, good people, and hosting! What started out as a financial endeavor has turned out to be so much more. Through this business, we have met the loveliest people from all over the world many of whom have become people we truly consider friends. Its not unusual that our guests wind up inviting us to see a show, share a meal, or exploring the city with them. What a wonderful way to make a living by providing a peaceful environment and good energy to people during their travels. We hope to do the same for you!
