About this listing
This is a stunning suite with a huge bedroom, full bath with jacuzzi, semi-outdoor porch, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. It's on a big estate with an 18 meter lap pool, yoga centre and lush gardens. Secluded, but only a 15 min walk to town
The Artist's Suite is part of a large estate measuring about 7,000 sq ft or about 650 sq meters. The estate has an 18 meter lap pool, lush gardens, a yoga room, a ping pong table and a rooftop sit-out.
The Suite itself features a huge and fully airconditioned bedroom, a changing room, a semi outdoor bathroom (which itself is bigger than most hotel rooms) with a jacuzzi and a rainshower.
The suite also has a private dining area which can seat 6, a fully equipped kitchen with butler service if you want it, a private garden and a semi-outdoor porch overlooking the pool.
Beautifully decorated with contemporary Asian art, the suite has hand-made floor tiles and custom-designed furniture.
What is really special about this space, apart from its breathtaking natural beauty, is that it is like a home. You can have people over to enjoy the place with you and even entertain guests to lunch or dinner in a way you could never do in a hotel.
Apart from everything that is in the Suite, you can use the pool, the ping pong area, the yoga centre and the gardens. There is another Suite called The Writer's Suite about 50 meters away. If that is occupied, you would share the pool, but it's very big. But if the other suite is not occupied, the entire estate is all yours.
You also have access to a spa and a restaurant which are both a two-minute walk away from the estate. The spa offers a range of health and beauty treatments including massage at discounted prices for inhouse guests. You can also have massages in your suite or anywhere on the estate if you wish.
The restaurant serves continental, Indonesian and Indian cuisines, the last reputed to be the best in Bali. Wifi is available everywhere on the estate and in the restaurant
Interaction with Guests
I live in Singapore (although I visit Bali frequently) so I will likely not be there in person. But there is a team of 22 staff who are wonderful, friendly and helpful. They will be happy to help arrange tours and activities for you, or if you prefer, they will leave you alone and respect your privacy.
The neighbourhood is quite charming. The estate is located in little hamlet called Penestanan in Ubud, which is the artistic and cultural capital of Bali. Penestanan is famous for an artistic tradition called the Young Artists Movement which was pioneered by a Dutch artist Arie Smit in the 1960s. It remains picturesque and unspoilt, with lush rice paddies and narrow winding paths, dotted with rustic restaurants, art galleries and yoga and meditation centres. It also has the cutest new-age village you will see. All of this is walking distance from the property.
Although secluded, the property is also central. It is only a 15 minute walk (or five minute drive) away from the centre of Ubud, a charming and lively little town with bars, boutiques, markets, restaurants and art and craft galleries - and a monkey forest. All of this is worth exploring.
No cars are allowed in the part of Penestanan where the property is located, so it's quieter and the air is cleaner. But the drop off point is about 200 meters from the property. We have golf buggies to pick up and drop guests - although some don't mind the short walk. We can also order taxis for guests at any time. If there is a large group, we can arrange a shuttle bus for tours and trips into town - although you can also walk.
Other Things to Note
The property adjoins the much-loved Villa Nirvana (see the reviews), but is separate and distinct. The spa and restaurant located at the villa are both a two minute walk away. They are also open to outside guests - although inhouse guests get a 20 percent discount. There are lots of activities that can be arranged for guests, including temple visits, golf, white water rafting, cooking classes and visits to traditional dance and music performances. We can also arrange for dancers and musicians to perform at the estate.
Make yourself at home and be yourself, but treat the property with care and respect. Pets are allowed. Smoking is not allowed in the indoor areas.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Artist's Suite for 3 nights but wished we could have stayed longer! We had so many tours booked that we didn't get to enjoy the gorgeous villa as much as we would have liked! The room and facilities were fantastic, stunning pool (shared with one other villa if it is occupied), wifi could have been better but nevertheless we had an amazing stay at villa nirvana! Even managed to fit in a quick massage before we checked out. Staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, great with organising drivers and willing to go out of their way to do anything to make our stay even better. Will definitely be coming back (for longer!) next time we are in ubud! Terima kasih!
It is a quiet and tidy place where is fit for having a rest for a couple of days. The villa is located 2.8km away from Ubud market, not so far, as a matter of fact.
Staff here is so helpful and nice. Breakfast is delivered in good taste. Massages here is fantastic. And I think everything here seems great.
We received a lovely warm welcome we when arrived at the Artist's Suite in Villa Nirvana, which continued throughout the rest of our oh-too-short stay. The villa was stunning, with a huge, wonderfully comfortable bed, gorgeous outdoor areas and a semi-private pool that was a great way to relax after a long flight. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who even came to cook us breakfast in our kitchen. We'd highly recommend the Artists Suite but please take note - the check out time is actually 12pm not the 2pm stated here on Airbnb.

About the Host, Vee
Hello, I'm a writer and I own Villa Nirvana, which is a boutique hotel in Bali. It is professionally managed (I could never do it myself!) and the team, led by seasoned hotelier Dean, does a fabulous job . I like meeting people who have a love of life and great stories, wherever they might come from . I travel moderately myself, preferring to stay in small boutique-type establishments that have a unique charm, rather than the conventional five star chains.
I don't live in Bali, so I will not personally be your host at Villa Nirvana - though I'll be lucky to be visiting while you're there. But the staff are wonderful and will treat you like family - check out the site for what other guests have had to say. Hope you do go and have a great stay.
My life motto: we're here to learn about ourselves, through our lives and the lives of others.
