Less than an hour's drive to Boston, Worcester, and Lincoln or Providence, RI. Three miles to Rt. 495 near Mass Pike (Rt.90) Less than six miles to start of Boston Marathon. Great place for visiting colleges and universities in New England or for Rest and Relaxation or for outdoor enthusiasts.
Continental breakfast included, kitchen and common areas available to you. You will have your own bedroom and use of a shared bath. Casual, clean, and comfortable accomodations.
House is situated in trees and much natural shrubbery. Pesticide free berries by season, from the yard. The owner can direct you to historic and scenic sites in the New England area. There is a paved bike trail in town or an off road trail down the street.
If you don't want to drive and try to find parking in Boston, you can park in Ashland and take the train in. From the train end at South Station in Boston you can take a Duckboat or trolley tour of the city. Boston is very walkable and suggested during pleasant weather. You can also take a ferry out to one or more of the 31 Boston Harbor Islands, nice way to see the city and beachcomb. If you take the trolley they will let you get off and back on at various locations so you can stay longer in one or walk to another, then still get back on.
The house is visited regularly by wildlife. Full time residents include two friendly indoor/outdoor cats.
In winter there is a fireplace insert in the den. Firewood stacked in back. In summer, I rarely need air conditioning due to the treed lot and prefer to hear the quiet of the outdoors. There are ceiling fans and/or portable AC in bedrooms, if needed. Limited TV, only in living room. Many books and magazines.
Clothes line outside for towels, beach or kayak gear. Washer and dryer available, but highly encourage drying on clothes line (summer) to reduce adding heat to the house.
Bedding, towels, and soap provided.
45 minutes to Blackstone River canoe or bike trail in Lincoln, RI, or, for those inclined, to Twin Rivers Casino.
Please note that families are welcome, but that I am not set up for young children or babies at this time. I have a twin bed for a young child to be in a couple's room and do have a high chair. Hope to hear from you soon.
Linda is a great hostess, caring so much about her guests. She always responds in time, helps us to put away clothes we leave outside, prepares great breakfast, esp. for 7 of us getting up at different times, teaches the kids and us how to kayake, recommends places to go around the area. I really cannot make a complete list of what she has done for us. I strongly recommend Linda if you want to visit Boston or that part of the area. It is so nice an environment as we live in the woods, so quiet and refreshing. And the rooms are so nice and clean. We really did not want to leave the place and Linda.
