The Space

Sunny, master bedroom with own private bathroom in brownstone duplex in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. There is also a private deck adjoining the bedroom. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the bathroom has a clawfoot tub and double, tempered glass sinks. The bedroom is 15'x17'and air-conditioned. Fiber-optic Wi-Fi is available from anywhere within the apartment. There is a chef's kitchen downstairs that is shared with two other people. There is a French, gourmet deli on the corner which is kind of pricey but is very good. There are also many restaurants in the area, many of which are located on DeKalb Ave. G train to Clinton/Washington, two blocks away. Forty minutes from Central Park and Times Sq., 30 minutes from Greenwich Village/NYU, a 20-minute walk to Brooklyn Museum or Brooklyn Academy of Music and a 25-minute walk to Prospect Park. Very close to Fort Greene, Williamsburg, Barclays Stadium, The Brooklyn Flea and Pratt. Also, the house is along the route of the NYC Marathon. Parking is available on the street or in lots in the neighborhood.

  • This was a really great base for my NYC holiday. The location couldn't have been better. Within 1 block is a coffee shop, a good grocery store, a Citi bike station and the surprisingly useful G train. The G train is good for Wburg, Park Slope MOMA PS1, and even for midtown.

Waldemar was a very nice host and was available at all times. He also had World cup and Wimbledon on which was good for getting updates.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Even on 95+ days the room was bearable with the fan on. The bathroom is very nice, and the small outdoor deck was perfect for breakfasts each morning.

The only thing I think everyone should be aware of is that there is very little acoustic privacy between this room and the neighboring room and also with the rest of the house. My girlfriend and I wanted to make *ahem* noise. We didn't really feel comfortable doing that and had to keep a lid on it. If you too are traveling as a couple you'll want to know this before you book...

  • Waldemar was extremely considerate and responsive to all my questions. He even introduced me to other people staying at the residence and made me feel like I was at home. I would definitely stay with Waldemar again.

  • Neighborhood was interesting with lots of great small shops around the corner to eat and/or have a coffee. It's certainly diverse, but still hasn't reached that hipster quality that places like Park Slope or Williamsburg have. The picture is exactly the room; the house, though old, is architecturally beautiful, with high ceilings. LOVED the terrace. Waldemar was always around and he engaged in conversation if you wanted to converse, or left you alone if you didn't want to. I had a car and had no problems finding a spot. Bed was also comfortable. And hot evenings, you had the option of using a ceiling fan or air conditioner. (I opted for the fan.)

    Response from Waldemar:

I agree but where is the space to put one?

  • We rented the room en suite bedroom. Location and accommendation exactly as photos show, and valued low rate. Waldemar was a wonderful, responsive, respectful host, and I would love to stay at his place again! Our suite had great ventilation: Luxurious fresh air from deck door coming in and an inviting and super clean bathroom has 3 windows. Bed was very comfortable. Those items and location were most important for us, since we had an assignment 2 and 4 blocks away on this past weekend! Chef's kitchen was there for us, conversation with guests and host, very enjoyable, french lunch place -almost next door- and parking in FRONT of house, made our stay perfect for us.

    Response from Waldemar:

Chantal's review sounds a bit extreme.

Chantal ALWAYS had the door to the deck wide open and that must have allowed dust to be blown in.

On the contrary, the neighborhood and house are VERY quiet.

  • Me and my girlfriend stayed in Waldemar's En Suite for 9 nights. We had a great time with all we could wish for. The room is spacious, the private bathroom was clean, big bed and a nice deck of your own. The area is really cool with lots of great restaurants and bars. It's also close to a bunch of different subway-stations to get you were you want. Waldemar is a great host, kind and helpful. Highly recommended!

  • I stayed at Waldemar's place by myself (traveling alone) when I was checking in late at night, Waldemar wasn't home. The area was dark and I had trouble unlocking the door (Waldemar was very quick to respond on how to do this, so don't freak out!) once I got in, I went upstairs to the room and Waldemar left the light on for me. The room is very spacious and with a lovely bathroom all to yourself. For the price you're paying and the location (very close to subway and easy to find) I would highly recommend this place. I was out from morning until around 9pm every night I was here so I didn't use any other facilities so I can't judge that but this was exactly what I needed. Waldemar was friendly and kept to himself - I think for me. I definitely appreciated it because after working all day I just wanted to have some alone time and sleep! Had no problem with the bed. It is a little dark at night with only one light but otherwise perfect. Towels were provided, toilet was cleaned before I arrived. Thanks a lot!!

  • We stayed with Wald for 4 days It was our first time in the city so we stayed little at the home. He was a great host providing all the flexibility required.

We arrived very late for the check in, and we did a last minute checkout. We usually get to the home very late at night, but we never got a complain.

If you want to stay in Brooklyn in a conformable place and a nice neighborhood, He's the way to go!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Waldemar's place. He is very friendly and would love to help if you need any. The neighborhood is great, the room is very nice. Loved the bathroom and the garden. Very easy to go to Manhattan and JFK. Would love to come back.
