In the back garden are 2 rooms (purple and orange) next to each other in a little house that is surrounded from a tropical garden. Both rooms have their own semi open bathrooms with hot showers.
'Hanuman Bungalow' is a little separated bungalow, with a little kitchen and a daybed on its terrace.
The Kingfisher hut is int he same area like the purple and orange room but is its own little wooden cottage.

We serve healthy breakfast and try to be environment friendly as much as possible.
The next and biggest yoga center (yoga barn) is only 7 min. walking distance away.
In our street are many international restaurants, galleries, mini markets, ATM s and art shops.
The famous 'ARMA Museum' is our direct neighbor.
Our location is very close to the center but we are still surrounded from a tropical jungle with lots of birds, butterflies and frogs.

My husband is also a driver and tour guide and he can bring you around all Bali.

Ubud tourism focuses on culture, yoga and nature. In contrast to the main tourist area in southern Bali, the Ubud area has forests, rivers, cooler temperatures and less congestion although traffic has increased dramatically in the 21st century. A number of smaller "boutique"-style hotels are located in and around Ubud, which commonly offer spa treatments or treks up Ubud's mountains.

Guest access

We have an open kitchen in our main house which guests can use if they want to.
There is also parking space for motorbikes and cars.

Interaction with guests

We are most of the time at home and can provide lots of information to our guest.

The neighborhood

We are located next to the ARMA museum and so you can listen to their daily dance performances for free!
This is a cultural Must for Bali visitors!
But don't worry, it lasts only 1 hour and ends around 8.30pm.

Getting around

We can provide airport pick ups, other transports and tours for our guests.

House Rules

We do not allow to smoke inside the rooms, but on the terrace its no problem!
Please refill your drinking bottles with the water we provide so we all can reduce the plastic bottles on the island!

Pros: The closeness to the Arma Centre allows one to enjoy the benefits with ease and the host of eating spaces a short walk away are delectable. Do walk through the monkey forest road if you want to go to the Ubud Market. The walk is a delight and much shorter than the alternate way! Made (Birgit's husband was welcoming and helped get me safely to my taxi). Cons: Very basic and rustic. If you are a light sleeper, the buzzing nightlife of insects and frogs will most likely disturb you. Lighting is a tad low (for my liking). Smaller than I had expected and quite far from the palace (via the longer route that I was advised by locals)

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the warm and smiling Wayan who looked after every need during my three night stay. Breakfast was brought to my room to enjoy on the peaceful veranda overlooking the garden. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared for each guest. The room is very special with lots of charm and the bathroom quite unique; to stand in the shower in the morning and have the sunlight streaming down through was a real treat. Situated in a quiet lane just off Raya Pengosekan just a short walk to the Arma Museum and 7 minutes walk to the Yoga Barn, makes it a perfect place to stay as it's far enough from the madding crowd but close enough to all amenities. Taxi motorbikes are readily available outside Coco supermarket to take you to anywhere in Ubud for a very reasonable cost. Lots of lovely restaurants and cafes literally just a minutes walk away. I ate at the Arma Café a couple of times, the service was excellent and the food delicious. The show at the Arma Museum is a nice way to support local theatre artists and would recommend the performance at the Desa Puseh Temple on Hanoman Street. Would definitely stay here again if wanting to be in Ubud centre. Thank you for a lovely stay.

It was a little too rustic for me. The outdoor bath was really pretty and the shower is plenty hot. The wifi is a little spotty but that seemed to be the case around Ubud in general. I wish the room itself was a little better insulated from the outside.. there was a family of giant geckos staring at me the whole time and leaving little droppings around the room. The comfortable canopy bed does a fine job of keeping the mosquitos away though. Breakfast the second day was delicious but the first day there was just a bag of bananas and a bag of eggs on the kitchen counter.. no staff there. In general it was a pleasant stay though.. I'd recommend if you really want to connect with the Ubud flora and fauna :)

I had a good stay in Balila. Balila in Ubud is a group of rooms located in natural setting with good basic amenities. The room has an ensuite bathroom which is clean with good shower facility with hot and cold water available throughout the day. I did not get a chance to meet Birgit during this particular stay but Wayan and Made were very friendly and open and helped us with all the prep and planning for the local travels. The morning breakfast was nice, and made to choice. The room maintenance was perfect as well. The sheets were being made everyday. I'd definitely recommend here. It's good value for money. People who expect star hotel accommodation or those who get 'scared' to stay in natural surroundings would do themselves a favour if they choose to stay away. I'd definitely go here again.

My stay at the Balila B&B was lovely. Everyone was helpful and kind. The room was simple, clean, and cozy and the bathroom was really nice as well. I especially loved the breakfast that was served each morning! I would definitely come back again.

hi friends,
we are a mixed family with Birgit, originally from Austria, Made her husband from Bali and Lila our beautiful daughter.
Birgit lives and loves in Bali already 12 years and enjoys every minute.
At the moment we have 1 dog and 1 cat, but that can change all the time.
We are renting 5 rooms in and around our family house, which is surrounded by a tropical jungle in the middle of Ubud.
Made is also offering transports and tours around Bali and will offer his big knowledge about Bali and its culture.
Wayan is our helper and the the 'real' boss in the house, because she prepares the breakfast, cleans the rooms and helps out wherever she can
Whatever you want to know about Bali ,we will try to give you the right answer.
Hope to see you soon in our little family compound!!!
