Stay at Bernard's!!!!!!!....this guy certainly went above and beyond to make our stay feel like a five star experience!!..the accomodation was just as described and very clean..everything was in working order and the beds and pillows were super comfy!..Bernard was even nice enough to show us around town and treat us to some local foods!the house is just across the rd from some shops and cafés which came in handy and jonker street market was a short ten min walk!the bikes were also great to use around town...we were two females traveling together and we felt very safe all around Melaka even at night:)..I highly recommend staying at Bernard's place,he is a genuine, honest and very nice host!..hope to go back soon!!!
We stayed here for three nights at the end of November and really enjoyed our time in Melaka. We had the apartment to ourselves and Bernard encouraged us to 'use the place as our own'. It's probably a 20 minute walk into the Old Town, but there are bikes which you can use and it's then only a few minutes.
Bernard's mum Mdm Susan picked us from the bus station and gave us a quick orientation of Melaka which was great.
Bernard met us for dinner later in the evening to introduce us to Melaka and the local cuisine. He was good enough to choose and pay for the food it was delicious! (thanks Bernard!). Bernard then gave us a guided tour of the town, and pointers on where the best places are to visit, eat and drink which proved to be great for us. On leaving he also gave us some tips on our next destination KL. It was great staying at Bernard's place, and as a host he really made our trip to Melaka.

We had an awesome time in Bernard's apartment. His mother picked us up from the bus station, gave us a little tour and introduced us to the amazing Coconut Shake (a must try!) The room was exactly as described - clean, neat and very comfortable. There were bikes available for us to ride around town which was so much fun. Highly recommended and great value!
Bernard offers a neat and tidy room with a/c and fan. The two windows do not offer a view outside the house (they look out into the house itself) but there is plenty of space in the house to watch TV or just potter around. The house is a short walk from the main Jonker Street. As stated by another reviewer, no one actually lives in the house (although part of the house is used as an office by a family member). On arrival in Melaka by bus from Kuala Lumpur, Bernard very kindly fetched me and gave me an interesting tour of Melaka. Later Bernard took me to the Portuguese part of town and we had a most wonderful meal. The next day Bernard took me to breakfast and introduced me to kaya toast. My best! Then, to cap it all Bernard offered me a lift back to Kuala Lumpur. Who could ask for more? Thank you, Bernard, for your hospitality and friendship!
Staying at Bernard's House was awesome! I sent request to him just a day before I arrive in Malaka, but he kindly confirmed my reservation. I haven't meet Bernard, as He was in Korea when I visited his house. However his mother took care of us, she pick us from the Bus terminal, and drop out when we leaving. (Thanks a lot!!) The house was very clean and well furnished with brand new furniture. We also can park the car at the yard in front of house. They don't stay this house, so we can secure our own privacy as well. It is located center of malaka, so you can walk to historical places and night market. (Though I'm not sure how long does it take exactly as We move by car.) I highly recommend this house! It make your travel more great! :)
