I stayed at Bernard's place for month and felt so at home that I didn't want to leave. The house has everything you need and more and is ideally suited for a long term stay. Jonker Street/City Centre is a 5 minute bike ride away (bicycles are provided) but there are also many shops and restaurants right outside. The place is away from the tourists, quiet and unpretentious and I can highly recommend it. If Bernard is not around (he travels often) his mum, Susan, is there to look after you should you need anything.

Bernard's place is above our expectation. This is first time my friend used airBnB, she is surprise to find this kind of quality. Not knowing until later that Bernard actually is currently out of the country, he text me the day before my trip, and arranged his mom to pick us up at the bus terminal. He doesn't need to do this at all!! This shows his hospitality exceeds other hosts you may find. Her mom is very friendly, we even chatted with his friend for an hour who came late that night dropping off the router. Oh, if you are a old mini cooper fan, they got one for your eye pleasure~

We stayed here for three nights at the end of November and really enjoyed our time in Melaka. We had the apartment to ourselves and Bernard encouraged us to 'use the place as our own'. It's probably a 20 minute walk into the Old Town, but there are bikes which you can use and it's then only a few minutes. Bernard's mum Mdm Susan picked us from the bus station and gave us a quick orientation of Melaka which was great. Bernard met us for dinner later in the evening to introduce us to Melaka and the local cuisine. He was good enough to choose and pay for the food it was delicious! (thanks Bernard!). Bernard then gave us a guided tour of the town, and pointers on where the best places are to visit, eat and drink which proved to be great for us. On leaving he also gave us some tips on our next destination KL. It was great staying at Bernard's place, and as a host he really made our trip to Melaka. Annie & Anthony x

We had an awesome time in Bernard's apartment. His mother picked us up from the bus station, gave us a little tour and introduced us to the amazing Coconut Shake (a must try!) The room was exactly as described - clean, neat and very comfortable. There were bikes available for us to ride around town which was so much fun. Highly recommended and great value!

Bernard offers a neat and tidy room with a/c and fan. The two windows do not offer a view outside the house (they look out into the house itself) but there is plenty of space in the house to watch TV or just potter around. The house is a short walk from the main Jonker Street. As stated by another reviewer, no one actually lives in the house (although part of the house is used as an office by a family member). On arrival in Melaka by bus from Kuala Lumpur, Bernard very kindly fetched me and gave me an interesting tour of Melaka. Later Bernard took me to the Portuguese part of town and we had a most wonderful meal. The next day Bernard took me to breakfast and introduced me to kaya toast. My best! Then, to cap it all Bernard offered me a lift back to Kuala Lumpur. Who could ask for more? Thank you, Bernard, for your hospitality and friendship!
