Würzburg is situated in Lower Franconia, 110 kms from Frankfurt Airport. Rolling hills all around, nice bike paths along the river. Lots of vineyards and wine bars... Most famous is our baroque palace called RESIDENZ, built in 1749, a UNESCO world Heritage Site, plus a castle from 1250 on the hill. University town.
Heidingsfeld used to be a separate city until 1930. Around 10,000 inhabitants. Shopping and restaurants 10 min. away.
garden access from the street (outside of the apt, no direct access through the house)
Interaction with Guests
this depends on the guests... I can provide lots of information for travelers, we might even barbecue in my garden if we like each other, but if somebody wants to retreat, I am fine with that as well.
My house is located in the suburb of HEIDINGSFELD, 5 kms outside the city center. It used to be an independent village of the king since the 1400s with an old historical wall around it with towers, which is my view from the kitchen window. So my house is just outside from the old town, which means it is easy to get to.
free parking next to my garage on private ground (so off the street). Eisenbahnstrasse is parallel to the train tracks, but with good windows installed you will not hear the noise from (not that many) trains running by.
You walk 5-7 min to the next tram station (called Klingenstrasse) - the tram ride into the city center of Wuerzburg takes only 20 minutes, the tram runs every 10-20 min. until 1 am !
Walk to buy groceries is 10 min. into the center of Heidingsfeld, underpass under the train tracks.
Other Things to Note
definitely ONLY NON-SMOKERS , please!
I have lung problems and cannot host smokers!
No pets either, I have plenty of allergies.
NO SMOKING !!! (not even your guests)
kitchenette with cupboards, sink, water-kettle and coffeemachine ( not on this pix), in the left corner you can see the stove
Maria - Anna's house was the highest point of our travel. Not only is she a warm, gracious and most hospitable person, her listing is fantastic. A completely independent apartment unit and absolutely comfortable.
There are incredible bonuses...... Maria-Anna is a certified tour guide and quite wonderfully gave us a midnight tour of her beautiful city and shared the amazing historical background of all that we saw in Wurzburg. Her professional credentials as a history and English teaches add to her credibility and wonderful story telling prowess.
We felt completely at home and have made a lifelong friend!
Great hosts and super breakfast!!!
Maria-Anna is a very warm and welcoming host. She provided us with a map, instructions for using the public transportation and great tips about the city. We were even invited to have breakfast at her great garden and had some really nice talks with her:) The room itself is spacious, well-equipped and super clean. With the ensuite bathroom and the kitchenette, one can be very independent. All in all, everything one could ask for. Highly recommended!
