A bus route to downtown has opened up to downtown just one mile from my house, and with the train- the Music City Star (the only train in the county) you can choose to be car-free!
Plan ahead for seasonal events, family reunions, weddings or special events. I also love to host LONG TERM GUESTS for a special weekly or monthly rate. Just a note-- with 4 listings, I almost always have openings that don't show on the calendar. Just inquire and we can find a spot for you!
We respond within minutes to your inquiries here. PLEASE wait for and respond quickly to our replies, and choose the option that allows the host to call you, so we can have good, clear, efficient communication from the beginning. : )
In the last 18 months we've hosted people from 60 countries making for some fascinating stories being shared around the kitchen table! A stay at the Morningstar House is a great way to make new friends and get settled and connected if you are planning a move to Nashville. Since my practice here is more like sharing my home, and less like a motel rental, I especially appreciate people who bring an open, cooperative, friendly spirit to the process.
Here are the listings- Capital letters help you search for the one you want to book.

In a quiet wooded area near Percy Priest lake, we are still just 5 miles east of the Nashville Airport, (pickup available $10) , 15 minutes from downtown, and the Opryland Hotel area. I have an art room, activities for children, (my grandchildren live nearby) a Playroom where we've held house concerts, and many workshops, wireless internet, a wide selection of music. My space is ideal for artists, writers, or musicians, business people, travelers, people new to the city, or anyone wanting a getaway or just a fast, easy, comfortable place to sleep while on the road!
While my house is clean, it is not spotless-- the forks aren't a matching set, the refrigerator and cabinets are sometimes full of food (always for share!), the bars of soap are not individually wrapped like in a motel, the sheets and towels are clean- hung out in the fresh air to dry, but don't always form a matching set. : ) My grandchildren have made sure the carpet has a few light stains in the carpet that won't come out, and i've collected books and things globally that adorn each room. Yes, i could part with some more of the "stuff" but for now, it's here for us to enjoy along with the relaxed friendly vibe in the house.
I no longer offer much in the way of cooking breakfast, but can have supplies on hand for you to prepare things yourself.
I offer creative process coaching in expressive and healing arts. As a community artist for over 25 years I have an extensive network of creative friends doing interesting projects in and around Nashville. I can offer expressive arts/creativity sessions for $20 a session upon request. : )
I've done lots of traveling around the world, and learned the beauty and value of hospitality... I enjoy people and seek to provide guests in my home with support, nourishment for body and soul, information about the city, as well as honor needs for quiet and privacy. Please read my reviews and references, they will help you connect with the "spirit" of the Morningstar House before you get here. : )

We had a great stay at Diana's house. She was out of town when we were there, however her house sitter was great. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We felt very comfortable staying there. It was really nice to have full access to the kitchen and to be able to keep food in the fridge. I would definitely recommend staying at her house.
Very comfortable stay, we were able to come and go as we pleased. The room was spacious and exactly as described. Diana was incredibly sweet and accommodating; will definitely stay at Morningstar again the next time we're in town!
What an awesome place! It was private and very comfy! So much better than a stuffy hotel -- it was like going to a close relative's home to stay. The patio was a great area to sit and relax, and the jacuzzi was excellent! There were lots of interesting and unique things throughout the home. You will not be bored! :) I can't wait to go back and I hope Diana will be there!
We arrived on Friday night - we were very disappointed after a very long drive to see that we were renting Dianas room full of all her personal items. We tried contacting Diana but could not reach her. The room was dirty, the bathroom was even worse. The kitchen was also dirty and we could not use the fridge at all-too full and many items were rotting. Dirty sheets, dirty shower, toilet not cleaned, shower not cleaned, very dusty, not vacuumed - the list goes on. Diana finally called me and stated that she would not refund any of our money but we were welcome to leave - we did not leave because we paid for three nights. I could not sleep and got a hold of Airbnb to file a complaint - and cancelled our reservation. We found a new place to stay the remainder to the nights. After providing a detailed description of the issues and many pictures - Airbnb gave us a FULL refund in less than 24 hours. One thing I don't understand is how she has such great reviews - these people must be blind. Do yourself a favor do not stay at Dianas place.
This is completely inaccurate. From the beginning these folks were confused, disrespectful and had no idea how airbnb works. She told me her husband did not want to stay in someone's home, so these claims about the house being dirty were just made up so she could get her money back. I have 102 good reviews and none of them have been "blind" The house is beautiful, and clean,( but not spotless) and I gave them a huge room with jacuzzi for way less than a Motel 6! I tried my best to communicate with them, but it was clear that they had a conflict between themselves and she was just trying to appease him by cheating me. Also, i did not ask them to leave, at all, but encouraged them to stay and relax after their long drive, hoping they might be more reasonable after sleeping. I've learned that once in a blue moon, we get to deal with people who just live to create drama. It was upsetting to have people here in my home who have so much negativity. I'm just grateful that the vast majority of people are good-hearted and honest.
Diana's place is very homey. My husband and I had her master suite which came with a comfortable, clean bed and nice, large bathroom. Diana lives there when the space is not rented so her things are in places you would expect. We loved that all the lights dimmed. There's a private entrance for this space which let my husband enjoy his daily cigar. We were so comfortable with Diane's place and excited to explore Nashville, that we extended our stay. Diana's very non-chalant and has a beautiful vibe. She definitely enjoys people. With 4 rooms available (plus a teepee) she seems to always have people in and out. There's even a small "Airbnb" sticker on the front of the house by the door. I woke up early our first morning and made coffee for the house, popped some bread into the toaster and lit some incense before padding into the living room to turn on the TV and watch what was happening on the East Coast with Superstorm Sandy. Yes, I'm saying I felt like I was home. :) Tony and I had a chance to sit with Diana a few minutes on our second day and for about an hour or so before we left on our fourth morning. What a charming personality! Tony is very honest with me regarding people and places, "It's no sterile hotel babe, but I was super comfortable and Diana is a jewel." She says "Hi Ya'll," and has a lovely southern draw. If you're looking for a super clean spot, look elsewhere. If you want to explore Nashville and be among beautiful people (she seems to host lovely, diverse nomads from around the world), knock the judgmental chip off your shoulder and stay here. I love knowing there are people like Diana around!
Diana was extremely hospitable and gracious. She promptly answered any questions I had, made sure were set and able to get in the house in her absence, and let me use her kitchen to cook! It's a comfy house in a great location. Would definitely stay here again.
Well, I will make a list of things I remember and liked about the house:
- Big (really big :D)
- Good energy lol
- Sweet/helpful host :)
- Calm neighboorhood
It's not so close to the downtown but the host really helps you! :)
We had a really great time there and would definetly recommend and go again there. I loved the Jacuzzi! :)
Pro: Large room, comfortable bed, very nice host, easy use of kitchen, pickup/dropoff from/at airport worked very good
My son and I stayed in Diana's Super Suite and had a great time biking in Nashville (both green way and mountain trails close by). Diana is very friendly and helpful, and communication was excellent. Diana's friends, family, and other guests were nice too. The bedroom and bathroom are twice the size of a hotel room and very comfortable and pieceful - the two of us had more than enough room. The suite is private enough to keep to yourself if you want, but it is connected to the house if you want to socialize. We were pretty busy most of the trip so we mostly kept to our selves but Diana helped us out with anything we needed for biking - water jugs, WD40. It was more like staying with family or friends. The neighborhood is nice too - very quiet at the end of a cul-de-sac, close to Percy Priest Lake and I-40 and minutes from the airport. Would definitely stay there again. One memorable item was the full size Tee-Pee that one of Diana's (native American) friends constructed in the side yard - very cool.
Diana was a great host during my whirlwind stay. Bed and room were modest, but all that I needed. Lovely houst, good internet. No complaints.
