The Space

THIS IS A PRIVATE APARTMENT.

This apartment can accommodate up to three individuals.
Nice, spacious and CLEAN Studio apartment, with all comforts Queen size bed sofa dining table & a closet). Fresh paint, new kitchen cabinets, and appliances. Also free wireless internet and TV.
I provide clean bed sheets ,bath towels, Soaps, ironing board, and full kitchen.

The apartment is located at the corner of Sanford Av and Union Street in a quite section of Flushing. The apartment is close to JFK and La Guardia Airport.
Flushing is part of Queens, one of the 5 boroughs of NY.
The neighborhood is friendly with lots of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, laundry, etc.
It is a very SAFE area. you are just few blocks from Main Street and number 7 Subway Train.
You can also walk to Northern Blvd and enjoy the night life and the endless variety of available restaurants ( Greek, Italian, Chinese Thai, Japanese and Indian), and more. See the MTA website for a detailed map Also.Easily you can get to downtown Flushing and visit Citifield and the USTA National Tennis Center, home to the Mets and the US Open Tennis Championships.

Regarding the check-in / -out, I’m very flexible.

  • We had a wonderful time in New York. The apartment was very nice and clean. It had everything that we needed. I love the neighborhood. It was very ethnic and I felt like I was out of the country. Yummy food. Everyone was very friendly and it was very safe. Parking was a little problem but we were always able to find a place on the street even if it was a little walk. There's always parking in a close by garage. The subway was very convenient. It took us less than a half an hour to get to Manhattan. And we didn't even get lost. Ashraf was very helpful and we enjoyed meeting him. Thank you Ashraf for your hospitality.

  • Ashraf was very friendly and flexible with the check in or check out time. The studio was clean, well equipped and well kept; located in a safe and quiet neighborhood. About a 5 minute walk to the Main Street metro station. Would rent again. Thank you!

  • I stayed two weeks in this suite. I categorize my evaluation in pros and cons
PROS: The suite was located in a safe neighborhood with easy access to public transportation. The neighborhood was dominated with Asian culture and it was interesting. Most of your needs could be found within walking distance.
CONS: The refrigerator and the microwave oven were not clean. The bed was very uncomfortable and noisy. Tiny cockroaches were detected in the kitchen, and it is advised that you check your luggage for these insects before packing. The hot water tank was very small and you needed several hours to separate two consecutive showers. A safe postal address was not available to receive parcels through mail.

    Hossein,

I’d like to take this time to respond to your review.

It is unfortunate that you found your stay to be less than satisfactory. Your review is far from the truth.
I have inspected the Apartment and there are no insects anywhere.

After some poor communication attempts made just prior to your arrival I was uncertain as to whether or not your booking was even legitimate. I had to seek confirmation via airbnb as to whether you were legit. All that needed to be done by you was to inform the person you loaned your cell phone to that you had booked an apartment and calls or text messages may come in. It is up to airbnb members to take an active part in protecting themselves against fraud.

Once you and your wife were escorted into the apartment you asked if the linens were clean to which I responded “Yes, of course”. Disbelief followed and so I offered up a new set of sheets for the bed. All of the towels and sheets that are used by guests are always laundered prior to arrival. After you had checked out, I discovered that an unnecessary amount of dirty laundry. I received many calls from your self between the hours of 8 and 11 pm with various inquiries and requests. One of which was the location of the hair dryer to which I had to go to the apartment to show you where to find it – in a drawer in the bathroom.

Additional calls were made complaining about the hot water situation. I had to head over to the apartment again to investigate even though I had explained to you that the hot water tank was brand new. After going through the process of checking the issue out and a terrible waste of water, it was determined that there was nothing wrong with the hot water. I myself have never had to wait hours for the water to reheat.

Another call was concerning the possibility to receive packages of items ordered over the internet at the apartment to a secured address. It was explained to you that packages would not fit in the small mailbox and would require a signature upon delivery. You indicated that you would like me to accept them for you. No resolution was available for this situation.

Sadly, upon entering the apartment after your departure, it was discovered that the place was left in a terrible filthy state. Garbage was not disposed of. The kitchen was full of grease and no attempt was made to clean this up.

To top off all of this, you did not offer an honest or truthful response to the disappearance of the decorative glass bowl that was situated on the dining table for the keys. Rather, your response was that the same yellow plate was on the table where you found the key. I am left with the assumption that it was either broken or stolen.

  • Ashraf was a very helpful host. When our transportation to NYC was delayed by 4 hours, he was most accommodating and flexible. He even drove us to our concert so we wouldn't be so late! The apartment is conveniently located to the subway stop in Queens; we took the trains into Manhattan every day. Allow 45 min to an hour for travel time into the city, depending on where you plan to go.

  • Apartment is in a great location for exploring the Main St area of Flushing and the amazing diversity of Asian restaurants. Apartment was as described. It's a studio but felt spacious. We enjoyed our stay.

  • Ashraf is a very good host. The room is clean and spacious, and the kitchen is a great plus! It is within walking distance to the Train 7 station and the shops and restaurants around are great. I would strongly recommend staying here.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Ashraf's place. It was perfect for our needs. Excellent location. The neighborhood is very safe and has plenty of good places to eat (lots of Chinese/southeast Asian cuisine) that are very tasty but also very budget-friendly. We fell in love with a nearby bakery (Iris Tea and Bakery) that had wonderful baked goods that were fresh, individually-wrapped, and like $1.50-$2.75 (!) each...whether sweet or savory. That became 'breakfast' every day, along with the Starbucks (also close by). Metro is a very close walk from the apartment. The #7 Express train only takes 25 minutes to Times Square. (And the Q48 bus to LaGuardia airport stops outside the metro stop. $2.50 to LGA...can't beat that!) The apartment itself is very clean, as mentioned by other guests. And Ashraf was a very friendly host. We would gladly stay at this apartment again!

About
Hi everyone. I am a professional accountant; I just listed my apartment on airbnb. My goal is to provide a private, safe, clean, convenient, inexpensive, comfortable, well-appointed and well-designed property for the traveler or the local person in need of temporary furnished housing. I am available when needed but I do not intrude on my guests. I am a life long New York City resident and know the City well - ask me for tips. I travel every year, almost always staying in apartments and houses instead of hotels , so this is how I learned to be a good AIRBNB host.
