About this listing
Beautiful, private, guest room. Full of character, situated in one of Kansas City's oldest and most interesting down town neighborhoods. With-in walking distance of great eateries, down town , the crossroads and the Kauffman Center.
Kitchen. Well equipped for simple cooking. Coffee and tea assortment. We're across the yard if there's anything else you might need.
Your own little house! Great for one or two guests with the possibility to sleep four. Full service kitchen and yard full of herbs and good things to eat depending on the season. Help yourself! Full bath room with shower, no bath. Washer and dryer downstairs in the garage. A garage to park in. In the loft area there is a fold out Ikea couch that sleeps two more. The loft is a nice place to hang out and holds extra guests but you do need to be able to climb the ladder/stairs.
The house is yours, but I may access the garage for tools or bicycles. We'll be careful to not be around too early or late. The yard is shared.
Interaction with Guests
I will probably be home in the evenings and on weekends. You'll find me often working in the garden and out walking the dog. The yard is shared, please feel free to be in it and use it. Anything you might need in the kitchen that you don't find can be sourced from my kitchen. Please ask.
The West side neighborhood is unique and loved by locals. Diverse in both inhabitants and architecture. You might well hear chickens squabbling in the morning.
Right down town it has walking access to much of what Kansas city has to offer.
The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is 3 blocks away. Down town is 10 minutes walk and Crown Center and Union Station/Science City are within a half hour walk, a walk that takes you straight through the Crossroads arts district. Within half a block of the house you will find:
- (website hidden) (Fevere, best bakery in town!)
- (website hidden) (Los Alamos, our corner store, Mom and Pop, lovely people, have some of what you might need.)
- (website hidden) (The Westside Local, great restaurant)
- (website hidden) (Chez Elle, creperie! coffee house)
- (website hidden) ( Blue Bird Bistro, breakfast and dinner)
- (website hidden) (Novel, fine dinning)
There are a couple of little boutiques and a couple of salons. A down town, full service grocery store a short 15 minute walk.
With all that the neighborhood has to offer it has lots of visitors in the evenings and on weekends. But no problem you'll have a nice private parking spot in the garage.
We are on a bus line and with-in walking distance of the main bus lines that go through down town.
If you're driving, park in the garage. Street parking is safe on west side as well.
Please no smoking in the house or garage.
Alley entrance. Park in the garage under the house. You'll find a washer and dryer and stairs leading up into the house.
My husband and I has such a nice time staying in Kirsten's place. It was the perfect getaway for us! The house seemed just the right size for our needs, felt very open with tons of light. We marveled at the repurposed materials and the creativity of the remodeling. We would definitely recommend this to any of our friends.
The location is perfect with many great restaurants within walking distance.
Kirsten was very attentive to making sure we had a great stay. We certainly appreciated everything she did. We will definitely be going back.
This is a lovely detached small house. Kirsten was always immediately responsive and never intrusive. The house was immaculate when we arrived, and the kitchen stocked with coffee and tea and milk.
The space is comfortable, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing. It was VERY cold in Kansas City during our visit, so the attached garage and big comforters were welcome indeed.
We loved Westside Local for dinner. And we had the best crepes ever at Chez Elle. Both restaurants are on the block!
I have nothing even mildly critical to say. In fact, I regret posting such a glowing review because I'd like to keep this place a secret for my family and friends. But that wouldn't be nice!
Kirsten's guest house is located in a great area of downtown KC with some gorgeous architecture and a number of small eateries and boutiques within walking distance. You have easy access to the River Market, Crown Center, Westport and the Country Club Plaza. We had a great stay in the guest house which isolated in the back garden of the main house. It's been very tastefully renovated with a mix of exposed beams and original architecture and modern touches. The attached garage was a big plus for parking the car. We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend staying with Kirsten when visiting Kansas City.
My husband and I had a delightful time at the guest house! Super clean, with everything you would need including a small kitchen. The private garage parking can't be beat. Comfortable bed and huge fluffy towels. Owner is respectful and a lovely. Great restaurants within walking distance. Central to all the activities we like to do in KC. Mexican grocery/restaurant on the corner has the most amazing tomatillo salsa we've ever had.
We had a wonderful time at this little guest cabin! It was located in a great little neighborhood that is well known as one of the hip places in Kansas City. There are great restaurants within walking distance and it's close to downtown. The just was great- Kristen was super responsive to our emails. We didn't see her, but there was no need! Everything was easy and the little guest cabin was great. Very clean, comfortable bed and we loved the huge towels! Thanks for a great getaway!
Kirsten was able to accommodate us and work with our schedule on short notice. We arrived later in the day and had hit the road early so we did not get to meet but she was great to communicate with and easy to work with. The guest house was a very comfortable, clean, and unique place to stay in an area right off the interstate. Kirsten also provided coffee, kitchen things, and toiletries which all were very nice. We would definitely stay here again!
