Rare, original wine country home, circa 1865.
Minutes from everywhere to enjoy Sonoma County beaches, trails and world-class food and wine scene, this historic oasis of peaceful elegance pre-dates our famous vineyards and wineries. Built by the Murdoch family in 1865 as the Civil War ended, the house has presided over the peaceful little neighborhood which has grown up around it. Unique among Airbnb options, the house is a convenient, graceful retreat for your next Wine Country getaway.

The space
The stately, post-antebellum home has been been extensively updated in the past 20 years for comfort and convenience, with a touch of contemporary style. From its deep and welcoming front porch to the shady gazebo and vibrant vegetable garden, this home welcomes you to step back through time without sacrificing an ounce of comfort or convenience.

Each room is graced by elegant antiques and contemporary accents, for a perfect blend of warmth and flair. Think: Southern Living meets Wine Country chic.

There are four separate bedrooms, one is a cozy sleeping alcove in which to curl up with the latest issue of Wine Spectator. The master bedroom features a gorgeous spa-bath retreat and dedicated dual washer/dryer for the convenience of our guests. The sleeping alcove/study is also ideal for a child to sleep nearby, but not too nearby, sleeping parents.

Guest rooms two and three have queen sized beds and spacious closets. There is a sofa and seating area in bedroom 2. There is a second, full-bath upstairs with the bedrooms.

Truly a Chef's Kitchen ~ a professional chef and culinary instructor is your host! Fully equipped, with marble countertops, a butcher block baking center, stainless steel appliances including a gas range, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, crockpot, cookware & lovely formal and casual place settings for elegant dinners to casual country brunches.

There is a Butler’s pantry and bar area connecting the large kitchen with both library and living room.

The library has a sectional that folds down into separate sofa-bed type single sleepers for 2 people. There is a WiFi TV, books, board games, and welcoming sitting areas to linger for a chat. Curl up under a blanket with a glass of wine, or match wits over a rousing game of Stratego.

For extra guests, there is a Queen-sized air bed and two thick and comfy fold out floor pallets, with room in multiple spaces to set up as desired. The house can accommodate 7 in standard beds; up to 12 utilizing pallets, sofa beds and air mattress.

House has central heat if needed. 2 washer/dryers.

Outdoor amenities: There is a large outdoor garden lined with grape vines and an assortment of seasonal vegetables and fruits, many of which find their way into your meals if requested at Murdoch House. Patio deck with sitting and dining areas, plus an inviting gazebo that is the perfect spot for a lovely glass of wine in the evening.

Culinary options available upon request. Meals pre-prepared that you can heat/serve for your convenience, or request a picnic basket for your outing, or specialty cheese or charcuterie plate upon arrival - we'll prepare to compliment the wine you'd like to pair it with!
