We had a lovely stay in Cathy's Riad Dollar des Sables, situated at the end of a dark tortuous alley in the middle of the medina. Already after one day we knew our way out and in;-)
Cathy and her staff are very welcoming and helpful. We really felt comfortable staying here. The riad is very cosy and tastefully decorated, so are the rooms. The only point of criticism was that we only had warm water for about 5 minutes, so it was nearly impossible to both take a nice shower after one another.
My stay in Marrakesh was made very easy and pleasurable by the staff at Cathy's Riad, because they were always on hand to help me and make me feel at home. Mouna the cook is exceptional and I opted to eat in at the Riad two of my four nights' and I am so pleased that I did as she is a wonderful cook and I am sure that I would not have found anything better at any of the Restaurants. I can say without reservation that it was delicious and authentic. Cathy runs a very organised establishment and every detail is looked after orchestrated by her and carried out by her wonderful staff. It was a pleasure to stay there and I would recommend her beautiful haven from the noise, dust and hustle and bustle of the wonderful Souks which are virtually outside the door although you would never know it as it is so quiet, to anyone who wants a quiet place to come home to after a days exploration in Marrakesh. I also did a cooking class with Mouna and she took me shopping with her for the ingredients and spices and that was terrific as I also got to eat the fruits or her labour that evening.
This is a truly beautiful riad tucked away in the madness of the souks. It is well maintained and the service is excellent. The people working at the riad were among the friendliest people we met in Marrakesh - thank you so much, Mouna, Ali and Salah!
We had arranged to be picked up at the airport. We got out of the immigration process rather late, but our driver was still waiting for us, even though we were 2 hours late! (Make sure to fill out the immigration form before going through the passport control! If you fail to do that, they send you back and it's another long wait in the queue.)
Perhaps one word of caution: If you - like me - are given to claustrophobia, a riad in the souks may not be the best place to reside. For anybody else, this is a very good choice to experience a comfortable stay in Marrakesh! Mouna's breakfast on the rooftop terrace is a delight - I don't think I've ever had such a fantastic orange juice!
We had a wonderful time in the Riad Dollar des Sables. It was very clean and comfortable, and the service from Cathy, Salah and the other staff was friendly and thoughtful. We were given loads of advice on where to visit and eat and how to get there, which was very valuable as our trip was short.
The Riad is spectacularly located - very central, only a few minutes from Jema al Fna square, but so quiet and peaceful you wouldn't know it! The terrace is quiet too, and a sun trap (perfect for sunbathing) but also has lots of shade.
One recommendation - take up Cathy's offer of the airport transfer service. We would not have found the Riad in the dark without the guidance from Salah! It is very easy to find once you know where it is, though.
This riad is a hidden jem in the middle of the souks near Jema el Fnaa square. Perfect location for those who want easy access to the action in Marrakech, and don't want to be stuck in a stuffy tourist hotel. The room was cozy and clean. Breakfast every morning made by Mouna was looked forward to every morning. The staff was so helpful, even walked us to places when we didn't know where we were going, booked transportation for us to Ozoud, and was always there for anything we could possibly need. I would recommend this place to anyone!

About the Host, Cathy & Dany
Dany and Cathy are mother and daughter; We are both very fond of Morocco and Marrakesh where I'm (Cathy) living all year long since 2006, taking care of the Riad and my Guests personally with my team, sharing time with the guests ,giving them suggestions and good adresses to go , to visit inside Marrakesh ,the surroundings and the desert.
We both like travels, sharing experience with different people and learning about different cultures.
My House has a traditional style, because I wanted it like this, all the furniture and decoration have been made by the Marrakchi craftsmen, and I keep on buying things in the Market around the Riad.
i wish more and more people will keep on visiting Morocco and Marrakesh in the future, coming to my Riad and sharing with them my own experience which brings to me happiness, and peace.
