About this listing
Casa 7 With its antique "Mosaico"-floors, thick walls of natural stone, Mexican Artesania and cedar-wood furniture, it breathes the charme and style of a typical but modern Yucatec hacienda. Fall asleep to the sound of crickets, watching the stars from your bed....
Casa 7 has an airy and cozy sleeping room, a living area with a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious bathroom and a little room for the washing machine. All stretched out over 80m2. The size of my property is about 385 m2.
Casa 7 is braced by a wooden deck and a garden. Now, that there are (still) no immediate neighbors, you have a pretty nice view over the surrounding flora and fauna. Different species of palm trees and other tropical woods are the habitat of woodpeckers, parrots, chachalacas, many others...and sometimes you can even see a toucan!
Casa 7 is situated on the south side of Tulum, in "Colonia La Veleta", aprox. 6 km from the beach, 2 km from the most beautiful of cenotes (waterholes for swimming), 1 km from supermarkets and fruit stores and zero km from nature. There´s a couple of places along the main road where you can rent a bike. Taxis are inexpensive in Tulum and there are plenty of them everywhere. I recommend renting a car, at least the first days. This way you´ll get a much better idea of how Tulum is laid out.
At your arrival there's always coffee, a choice of different teas, spices and other essential cooking ingredients in the kitchen. There's a dock for your iPod and you'll also find fresh towels and sheets at your disposal, whenever you want to change.
Other Things to Note
There´s something for everyone in Tulum!
If you like to relax there´s the beach with countless spa and yoga opportunities. You shouldn´t miss out on some of the best restaurants on the coast!
If you´re up for sports there´s swimming, ocean- and cave diving, snorkeling, kite-boarding, paddle-boarding, kayaking, running, biking, trekking, yoga, tai chi, dancing, etc.
If you´re curious about the Mayan culture there´s the world famous Tulum ruins, and not far there´s Chichen Itza, one of the world´s great wonders....among many many other archeological sites.
If you are the adventurous type you´ll enjoy the breathtaking jungle tours to cenotes, lagoons, caves, islands, nature reserves, etc.
If you feel like partying, Tulum has recently build up a reputation for its excellent beach parties with international Djs from Berlin, Ibiza, Mexico-city, Miami, etc. And of course there´s salsa, too.
You might have heard that Tulum is a prime wedding destination. Let yourself be swept away by a romantic dinner, sunrises on the beach, or even a Mayan wedding ceremony!

Steffi was a great host! Very helpful with details and concerned about our stay. Her little casita is beautiful, well equiped in every sense and super well located. I would rent from her again if I ever go back to Tulum so if you plan on going there rent from Steffi!
Beautiful place south of town, having the basics in the kitchen was very handy, bike rental is suggested. Two awesome restaurants right up the street. Like everything in town it is a ways from the beach. The pictures do not do it justice, I posted a video on my youtube page, spokanebryan. Check it out. Very comfortable house, I loved the hammock.
The house was very nice and comfortable. Highly recommended. Joanne picked us up at the bus station and was very welcoming. The house is in the pueblo and is private and secluded with a beautiful garden. I would suggest to those visiting Tulum rent a car as there is much to do from the beach to the ruins to the cenotes and the distances are a bit far to walk/bike above all because of the heat and sun.
Steffi's place was exactly as described. The neighborhood was safe, while the place was adorable and bigger than the pictures do justice. Steffi's list of recommendations were excellent (La Vita Bella was the most beautiful beach and not crowded) and her caretaker Joanne was available for any questions. The windows are screened and we had no mosquitos in the house....although friendly lizards were sometimes spotted. Hey, this is the jungle. Make sure to follow Steffi's directions as others have noted correctly that the Google map satellite shows another location. This house is on the south end of Tulum, out of the main neighborhoods which have A LOT of local character and after walking around, we were very glad of it.
You can get around Tulum using taxis and bikes but it is HOT and the beach is 30 minutes by bike (which you can rent up the street). Be sure to visit El Gran Cenote, do a float in the Sian Kaan canal, and always wear bug repellent, even under your clothes. Thanks to Steffi and Joanne, Casa 7 was an inexpensive and lovely alternative to the beach hotels and local hostels.
Steffi's house is a place that I'd highly recommend for a quiet, beautiful and comfortable stay in Tulum. It's far enough off the beaten path to feel quiet, comfortable, and remote - yet close to everything that you'll need or want. You have a $25 pesos taxi ride to the heart of tulum or $60 pesos to the beach while enjoying the experience of going home to a comfortable, spacious, impeccably clean and nicely designed private home as opposed to a cramped hotel room. Really, I can't recommend this place enough, we absolutely loved it. Steffi & Joanne made the process simple, smooth and comfortable. The home and the location of the lot are truly unique, as is the rooftop terrace for relaxing with a few drinks and soaking up the sounds of nature. If you're in Tulum for an extended stay, you'll have a very hard time finding a better deal. My only concern would be that Steffi would contact me if she's ever looking to sell, her home is a jewel!
Beautiful secluded romantic and comfortable house in tulum! The place is gorgeous, with heaps of space and beautiful décor. It's a single house on it's own block of land with lovely landscaping & loads of privacy. You defenalty need a car or scooter in order to get groceries and go to the beach, but that was fine with us as we enjoyed the privacy and seclusion.
The bed was really comfortable, and we loved relaxing in the huge bedroom surrounded by big windows and garden views with the morning sun.
We had a few issues with water, internet and power outages ....however these were just unlucky issues that can happen anywhere & Steffie did her best to resolve them as soon as possible, even whilst being on the other side of the world....which we really appreciated!!
Would recommend this gorgeous little house as a perfect romantic getaway any couple that wants to be out of the bustle of the touristy tulum beach area!
