Very comfortable as single or twin. Good set up. Clean. Friendly and clear. Happy to recommend. Perfect for Tramway. short train to central station.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 1883 guest house! The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The guesthouse is a short train ride from the city center.
Bill was an excellent host; he had great advice about sights in glasgow and the surrounding area.
I highly recommend 1883 guesthouse, and would definitely stay there again!

Bill was a very amiable host and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. His flat is charming in a cozy, old-world kind of way, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was tasty. He helped us navigate the city and suggested some excellent restaurants and bars which we heeded and he was certainly spot on. His is a 5 minute walk from the train station which is just 1 stop from the city center or an easy £7 cab ride. The neighborhood could do with some TLC. There was a tossed soda vending machine with scattered soda cans all over the sidewalk that looked like it had been dropped from an upper-story window weeks before. Don't know why the city doesn't clear that kind of rubbish away. All in all, it was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to stay there again.
My stay at Bill and Lorna's was fantastic! What lovely hosts. The guest house is warm and inviting, breakfasts were filling and great bed with fluffy duvets. I spent Christmas with them and was so honoured to share Christmas dinner with them and their friends. They were so accommodating that they came out in the dark to come rescue me when I got a bit lost in their neighbourhood. Couldn't ask for better hosts. I will look forward to seeing them again!
I had a lovely stay in Bill's guest house, a comfortable bed, good shower and a great breakfast. Bill is a friendly host and everything you could need has been provided. Thank you for a great short stay in Glasgow!
As soon as I walked into the 1883 Guest House, Bill was there with a welcoming smile. The place was easy to find right off the train station, up stairs to the left and down two blocks. Although Bill was wobbling a bit (as he had hurt his knee) that didn't stop him from being the consummate host. The desk in the hall offered many different brochures of what to do during your visit in Glasgow. Bill was also a wealth of information.
The room was lovely with two beds (very clean), a TV, nice and cozy. I was able to walk down to the Indian place down the road and had a nice Tea Time Special. I would definitely order that per Bill...delish!
I woke up the next morning to meet an outgoing guest who was originally from Poland and as we sat and enjoyed a bit of coffee and a wonderful array of cereals and fruit, Bill brought out his homemade bread! Yummy! I couldn't even eat both pieces...wish I could've of. :)
I was given great instructions on where to go and how to get there and after a long day of hiking up to castles and walking around City Centre, it was nice to come back to a smiling face and relax in my room with some good food, an ale and TV.
I would highly recommend you visit Bill at the 1883 Guest House as i plan on going back upon my return to Glasgow!
Hosts were very welcoming. Comfortable beds with warm
Quilts and short walk to train. Loved the breakfast toast!
The location is great only one stop away from Glasgow central. There is also great Indian takeaway place. The breakfast is amazing. I wish I could've stayed longer.
We had a wonderful first stay in Glasgow and it was mostly due to Bill and Lorna. They gave us grand advice about where to go, what to do, and the best places to eat. They were extremely helpful and welcoming.
The house, though very old, is beautifully restored and quite comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The house is a very short walk to train and bus stops. While we could have hired a car, we never felt the need.
Glasgow is a friendly city, very proudly sprucing up for the Commonwealth Games next summer. So all Glaswegians are putting their best foot (feet?)forward to welcome everyone. Smiles and helping hands all around.
The whole visit was a delight. We are looking forward to our next stay in Glasgow with the Fraser's.
