Enjoy Berlin in a quiet, excellently equipped dream studio apartment with balcony in the idyllic surroundings of Prenzlauer Berg with lots of cosy cafés, restaurants and unique shops nearby. The only risk is wanting to stay…
You'd love the airy feeling of the studio, the high stucco ceilings, the big windows and the excellently equipped kitchen with oven/microwave, ceramic glass hob, hidden hood, dish washer, extra big fridge/deep freezer and snugly bench under the window where you can watch your partner cook for you ;). The bathroom is a highlight itself with lots of shelf space for your bits and pieces, an illuminated vanity mirror, luxurious old-style faucets and radiator. At daytime the queen sized wallbed is hidden behind a folding screen in the wall unit, nearly effortlessly you'll let it down and be surprised by its comfort and snugness including reading lamps. Watch the videos on wallbedking if you don't believe it! The balcony is small but the ideal place for breakfast in summer time or a romantic dinner al fresco.
From free WiFi internet access to speakers you may connect with your smartphone, from radio to cable TV, from hairdryer to flat iron and iron board, from vacuum cleaner to toaster, citrus juicer, coffee maker and food processor to a picnic basket you'll find everything that will make your stay comfortable and pleasurable. There is plenty of storage space for your belongings in the wall units, on shelves and in the walk-in closet in the vestibule - so you can easily keep the uncluttered atmosphere if you like. But in case you are missing something - just ask!
Interaction with Guests
I'll be glad to welcome you personally, have a drink with you and show you everything you'll need to know. You may contact me at day and night in case of urgent requests.
The brand-new refurbished apartment is situated on the second floor of a listed building in a tree-lined quiet street of the charming Bötzow-Viertel in Prenzlauer Berg, close to the Volkspark Friedrichshain and many relaxed restaurants, bars and cafés.
Probably you'll have a look at G. EARTH and check the neighbourhood with streetview - taken in 2009… In the last few years the Bötzow-Viertel changed immensely and is now one of the most sought after neighbourhoods particularly on the property market.
The tram stops just a block away and takes you to Alexanderplatz, the main transport hub, or to Hackescher Markt within a few minutes. Close by you'll find a bicycle rent station.
Other Things to Note
Guests staying at least one week will be provided with another set of bed linens and towels.
For guests staying at least 12 days a cleaning up and change of bed linens and towels is included without additional costs.
If guests are staying for a month or longer this service is weekly.
Guests coming by car should apply for a guest parking license for parking their car in the street. At day time they will find a parking lot nearly always in front of the house. Without a parking license they have to feed the parking meter (1 €/hour, 16 hours/day - free on Sundays). The fee for the license depends on the length of their stay (about 35 € for two weeks). The application for the license has to be made latest two weeks prior to arrival. I'll arrange everything so they'll find their license at arrival (to be paid cash immediately).
Standard check-in time is 2 p.m. or any other meeting time I agreed. If guests do not text or call me in case of delay, my maximum wait will be 30 minutes. After that guests have to arrange a new meeting time.
The apartment is in a quiet residential building and guests should take this into account, please. Parties and dinners with other people or overnight stays of non-registered persons are not allowed if not initially agreed upon.
Guests will find comfortable laundered house socks for their use or are asked to bring their own house shoes.
The apartment is strictly non-smoking but you can smoke on the balcony, of course.
In winter, the central heating should be turned down when you are absent for a couple of hours.
On request guests are provided with 2 keys for the central locking system of the house. In the very unlikely event of finding themselves locked out, I apply a charge of 50 € for coming over (to be paid cash immediately). If I cannot come in person, I will organize a locksmith service for you that will charge you directly.
Please note that in the event of a lost key the whole building has to be re-keyed for security reasons. According to the cost estimate guests will be charged for the loss.
In summer guests are kindly asked to water the plants on the balcony daily.
I expect that guests treat my apartment thoughtful and respectful. Please note that the moderate price paid for the check- out cleaning is intended for standard cleaning and launderette. This doesn't include washing plates, cleaning of the oven, or any other issue which would require extra time. I noticed that some guests are putting back cutlery, pots and pans etc. into the cabinets and drawers not as spotless as they found all the items. It is very time consuming to check every fork and pan and clean kitchen utensils again. I really appreciate if guests have an eye on that. Any additional hour will be charged to the guests at a standard rate of 15 €/hour.
I cannot be held responsible (and therefore no refund is payable) for any failure or interruption of services to the flat, including electricity, internet connection, plumbing and water, or any damage, disruption or noise caused as a result of repair works being carried out in another part of the property.
I have no strict responsibility for property, money, valuables, jewellery etc., which you leave in the flat. So please keep all valuables with you when going out. At least make photos of valuables in the apartment which could prove they were there in case of burglary.
We were in Berlin for 3 days and Barbara's perfectly appointed apartment acted as our base camp. Easy access to the tram gives you a quick way to get to all corners of the city. However, the neighborhood, while charming is fairly sleepy and family oriented. Nonetheless, we loved the time we spent here and had every possible amenity one could hope for while traveling. Thank you so much for the incredible hospitality Barbara!
Gerne wieder!
We have had a really nice stay in your apartment. Very clean and nice. All equipment you need. So a perfect place for two :)
Barbara's apartment is immaculate, and perfect for a short stay in this vibrant city. It's designed with thought, and everything works very well. All the finishes are very high quality. It's light and calming, lovely high ceilings, within a character building, it has all the mod-cons. Nice bathroom- fantastic shower and relaxing bath. Barbara has been very thoughtful and you will find, tea, coffee, soap, washing up liquid etc- so you don't have to do unnecessary shopping. Also a bonus, when on an easy jet flight with limited space to bring everything. In the apartment we found the little extras very nice, including cotton wool, house socks etc.
Barbara was very patient when we were longer than we anticipated in our journey from the airport. It's easy when you know how, (!!!!) and I suggest you get the S9 train from the airport- then you can walk- or hop on the M4 tram for 2 stops south. The S9 only goes the right way-(the airport is at the end of the line) so you can't go wrong! We found it easier to select a/b or a/b/c tickets (like zones in london) as every time we tried to spell the station, it was not successful.
Barbara met us with a warm welcome and wine! She spent some time explaining things- so make sure you allow time for this. She had everything well organised, and written down.
The neighbourhood is very pleasant, and I would liken it to St Johns Wood in London for example. The kids wonder around alone on their shooters, and its a very yummy mummy area. Kids have a fantastic life here, with lots for them. There are some great places very near by, we enjoyed the bar a few doors away from apartment (right and right again and then on right) actually you can see it from the apartment hall landing. We found a tapas bar accross the main rd- and enjoyed very much a paelo restaurant called Savage. This was booking only, and more expensive, as it was a birthday treat.
We walked towards Mitte, and loved the little boutique shops, and records shops this way. 1st night when we arrived late we found a taxi- and asked to be taken to the nearest bar that was open- he dropped us off down the main rd (South towards Alexandria platz) and in this bar we found friendly interesting people- and great cocktails!!! It was open till 3/4 am, I think-! Also we were surprised to find people smoking!!
We thank Barbara for a fantastic stay in her apartment. This was a great first trip to the city. I would not recommend this for someone with children, but perfect for 2.
Thank you so much for your extended review with so many useful informations. I just wanted to add that the Airport Express train (RE7 or RB14) are also very good options from Schoenefeld airport. Both stop at Alexanderplatz. The trains are faster (less stops) and more comfortable than the S-Bahn (with toilets and very comfortable seats). It depends on your arrival time what will be the best for you. The station is the same.
We had a wonderful stay at Barbara's apartment - as well as being beautifully decorated it was very central and the tram was only a few mins walk away... The bed was extremely comfortable and we didn't want for everything in the apartment .. On the day we left we presumed we were to be out by 11 even though our flights were that evening - as there was no booking that day Barbara very kindly said he could stay on the extra hours - this really saved us from dragging our bags around the city as we did our last bits of shopping .., would definitely recommend - Thank you Barbara
Hello! I am Barbara and as you may have noticed I love to design living spaces. As a photographer and journalist for lifestyle magazines I am interested in design, literature and cooking. I speak English, a little French, less Italian but found that communication is never a big problem as long as you trust in speaking gestures.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I am looking forward to welcoming you in my stylish and comfortable apartment. See you soon, Barbara
