About this listing
Enjoy Berlin in a quiet, excellently equipped dream studio apartment with balcony in the idyllic surroundings of Prenzlauer Berg with lots of cosy cafés, restaurants and unique shops nearby. The only risk is wanting to stay…
You'd love the airy feeling of the studio, the high stucco ceilings, the big windows and the excellently equipped kitchen with oven/microwave, ceramic glass hob, hidden hood, dish washer, extra big fridge/deep freezer and snugly bench under the window where you can watch your partner cook for you ;). The bathroom is a highlight itself with lots of shelf space for your bits and pieces, an illuminated vanity mirror, luxurious old-style faucets and radiator.
At daytime the queen sized wallbed is hidden behind a folding screen in the wall unit, nearly effortlessly you'll let it down and be surprised by its comfort and snugness including reading lamps. The balcony is small but the ideal place for breakfast in summer time or just a cold drink in the afternoon sun.
Bicycles can be stored safely in the backyard of the building.
Interaction with Guests
I'll be glad to welcome you personally, have a drink with you and show you everything you'll need to know. You may contact me at day and night in case of urgent requests. I will answer as promptly as possible.
The brand-new refurbished apartment is situated on the second floor of a listed building in a tree-lined quiet street of the charming Bötzow-Viertel in Prenzlauer Berg, close to the Volkspark Friedrichshain and many relaxed restaurants, bars and cafés.
The tram M4 stops just a block away and takes you to Alexanderplatz, the main transport hub, or to Hackescher Markt within a few minutes. Close by you'll find a bicycle rent station.
Other Things to Note
The City of Berlin raises a so-called CITY TAX for all tourists except for business travellers (5 per cent of the rental price plus cleaning fare).
THE CITY TAX HAS TO BE PAID CASH ON ARRIVAL. Business travellers are asked to fill out and sign a form.
For guests staying at least 12 days a cleaning up and change of bed linens and towels is included without additional costs.
If guests are staying for a month or longer this service is weekly.
Guests coming by car should apply for a guest parking license for parking their car in the street. At day time they will find a parking lot nearly always in front of the house. Without a parking license they have to feed the parking meter (1 €/hour, 16 hours/day - free on Sundays). The fee for the license depends on the length of their stay (about 35 € for two weeks). The application for the license has to be made latest two weeks prior to arrival. I'll arrange everything so they'll find their license at arrival (to be paid cash immediately).
Standard check-in time is 2 p.m. or any other meeting time I agreed. If guests do not text or call me in case of delay, my maximum wait will be 30 minutes. After that guests have to arrange a new meeting time. For coming over again I charge 20 € (to be paid cash on check-in).
The apartment is in a quiet residential building and guests should take this into account, please. Parties and dinners with other people or overnight stays of non-registered persons are not allowed if not initially agreed upon.
Guests will find comfortable laundered house socks for their use or are asked to bring their own house shoes. Please, do not wear street shoes in the apartment, especially no sneakers. Street shoes should be left in the apartment, not at the door mat.
The apartment is strictly non-smoking but you can smoke on the balcony, of course.
PLEASE BE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUS. After one year of letting the flat on Airbnb I learned that the consumption of energy in my apartment is three times higher than the average of all other apartments in this house. Please be smart and
_do NOT open the windows above the radiators.
_For airing the apartment open the balcony doors widely for about 10 minutes at least 3 to 5 times daily. During this time the thermostats should be on "0".
_Leave the thermostats the rest of the time between 2 and 3. This way the room temperature will reach at least 21 ˚ Celsius/ 70 ˚ Fahrenheit which is regarded as the optimum for living rooms. Turning it higher just makes the run-through of hot water faster and increases the energy consumption but won't lead to a higher room temperature.
Please, do not move the dining table, the side tables in the window corners and the sofa. The side tables are glued to the floor for better stability. Moving around heavy furniture leads to deep scratches in the floor.
The automatic ventilation in the bathroom reacts automatically on humidity. So please switch off the lights always when you leave the bathroom.
On request guests are provided with 2 keys for the central locking system of the house. In the very unlikely event of finding themselves locked out, I apply a charge of 30 € for coming over (to be paid cash immediately). If I cannot come in person, I will organize a locksmith service for you that will charge you directly.
Please note that in the event of a lost key the whole building has to be re-keyed for security reasons. According to the cost estimate guests will be charged for the loss.
In summer guests are kindly asked to water the plants on the balcony daily.
I expect that guests treat my apartment thoughtfully and carefully. Please note that the moderate price paid for the check- out cleaning is intended for standard cleaning (3 hours) and launderette. This doesn't include cleaning of the oven or any other issue which would require extra time. Any additional hour will be charged to the guests at a standard rate of 15 €/hour.
If you spend just a few days in my apartment, I ask you kindly NOT to start the dishwasher. Just put your dirty dishes - roughly wiped - into the machine.
I cannot be held responsible (and therefore no refund is payable) for any failure or interruption of services to the flat, including electricity, internet connection, plumbing and water, or any damage, disruption or noise caused as a result of repair works being carried out in another part of the property.
I have no strict responsibility for property, money, valuables, jewellery etc., which you leave in the flat. So please keep all valuables with you when going out. At least make photos of valuables in the apartment which could prove they were there in case of burglary.
Barbara went above and beyond as a host in what could've been a nightmare situation. My travel mate suffered from a massive corneal abrasion and not only did Barbara find her a reputable eye doctor, but she drove her to the clinic for two days, helped her get prescriptions and even treated her to lunch. I am blown away by her generosity as not only a host but a human being. Not only that, the apartment is impeccable and even better than the pictures. She made a situation that could've been so much worse into a very humbling experience. There's not enough stars on airbnb to give her. Amazing woman, amazing host, amazing space in my new favorite city.
Beautiful apartment with all the necessary amenities. Good location in quiet neighborhood close to public transport. Barbara has done a fantastic job with styling the apartment. She was very helpful with information and traveller tips! Would definitely stay here again.
The apartment was super clean, very close to the centre but in a calm neighbourhood. The kitchen had all amenities you could possibly want, and everything looks exactly like in the pictures. Barbara was there to greet us and provided us all necessary information about the flat and the city itself. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this flat.
The place is exactly as in the pictures. The neighborhood is cozy and nice with many nice cafes and restaurants around. The host keeps high standard of keeping the apartment, she walks the guest through the apartment manual in details.
Barbara's place was one of the most stylish, comfortable and convenient flats we have rented through AirB&B. Perfectly situated on a quiet, pretty, leafy street and a stone's throw to several cafés, shops, bars, restaurants. We rented bikes which were a fun way to get around the city. Barbara was there to check us in and out, show us around the flat and give us great recommendations of things to do around Berlin. Highly recommended. We will definitely stay again.
Barbara is very nice. The pictures show you perfectly what you get, a clean and cosy design apartment.
Contact with Barbara went perfect. I would recommend this place if you go to Berlin.
About the Host, Barbara
Hello! I am Barbara and as you may have noticed I love to design living spaces. As a photographer and journalist for lifestyle magazines I am interested in design, literature and cooking. I speak English, a little French, less Italian but found that communication is never a big problem as long as you trust in speaking gestures.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I am looking forward to welcoming you in my stylish and comfortable apartment. See you soon, Barbara
