About this listing
Two windows allow for lots of nice light. A couch provides a sleeping space for an additional guest, or a place to curl up and read.
My 2 bedroom 1 bathroom cozy condominium is superbly located close to the nation's capital in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. Step outside and you are one block from restaurants, movies, shops, and the Capital Crescent bike path. Walk 3 blocks to reach the metro, and in 20 minutes you'll be in downtown Washington DC. It's an even shorter metro ride to NIH, Suburban Hospital, Naval Medical, and close to American University. Giant, Safeway and Trader Joes are an easy walk. I like to walk or bike to Whole Foods which is one mile down the Capital Crescent bike trail.
The room is 11' by 12' with windows on two sides, and nice light. It's furnished with a bed, a desk, and a closet with shelves and hanging space for your clothing. Curl up and read on the couch, or use it as a sleeping space for an additional guest. It's very comfortable! The room is clean, bright and freshly painted.
You'll share the space with me, your host. I'm a mostly vegetarian nonprofit professional working in international development, education and youth leadership. I enjoy yoga, dancing, hiking, biking, and anything to do with nature. I'll provide coffee, tea, and a space for your groceries or restaurant left-overs. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare your meals.
Rent includes parking (a must in downtown Bethesda!) and high speed internet. Washer and dryer facilities available.
The best thing about my condo is LOCATION! If you want to be within easy reach of downtown DC, visiting Bethesda for a conference at NIH, etc., it can't be beat!
Please note that there is 1 full size bed that can accommodate 2 people. The couch can accommodate another person as well, but the room will feel pretty crowded. There is an extra fee for additional people.
No smoking, drugs or excessive drinking. You are welcome to use the kitchen, just please clean up after yourself. Be kind and courteous. If you'd like to have an overnight guest, please tell me in advance.
I have two parking spaces back to back. Please bring along an extra key in case we need to move your vehicle.
I'll provide bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows, pillow cases). I can provide a towel, but you might want to bring along your own. You will be responsible for laundering both sheets and towels during your stay.
Experience was great. Very close to the NIH, lots of things to do nearby: theater, restaurants, parks. Deb was a very kind and considerate host. Would definitely rent from again if given the opportunity to do so again.
Debbie was a great host. The location was ideal for attending a conference at the Hyatt and for access to the Capital Crescent Trail. The CC trail provides convenient bicycle access to the C&0 Trail and to the National Mall in DC. The room is comfortable and the kitchen had all of the essentials. Trader Joe's and several other stores are within easy walking distance, so our meals were healthy and inexpensive. Debbie is very accommodating and interesting to talk with about her activities.
Debra is kind, gracious, intelligent, flexible...just to list a few of her delightful qualities. Her home is cozy, comfy & quiet. It is in a great location for me...on a quiet street, easy walking distance to a downtown with all I may need, including a Metro stop. My only regret was that my schedule did not allow more time for the good chats we had.
It was a pleasure to stay at Debra's place. The apartment was beautiful, clean and the location was very practical (just a few blocks from the metro). Everything went really nicely with Debra, she responded fast to my messages, was very flexible and most of all, she was very nice!
Great location, comfy. firm bed for aging backs, abundant hot water for long showers. I enjoyed my stay, Debra was a gracious host, even leaving a dark chocolate bar on top of the fluffy towels on my bed when I arrived. Her condo is located in downtown Bethesda, short walk to restaurants, movie theaters and the metro. In spite of construction next door, I slept soundly, a credit to the older building with thick outside walls. I had my own shelves in the bathroom and kitchen. Debra was always considerate, quiet and respectful.
debbie is a lovely individual. overly accommodating and welcoming and willing to chit chat. though of course one would typically prefer and recommend advance notice, she was able to accommodate, and cheerfully so, my wonky travel plans dependent on a local nearby business. LOCATION is "downtown" bethesda, which could hardly be more convenient--about a 10 minute walk to one of two distinct nearby eatery linear few blocks. a cvs pharamacy and a local farmers market of food and "stuff" is a convenient a 5 minute walk. easy 5-10 minute walk access to the red line metro for anywhere between a 20-30 minute ride to the heart of dc to metro center, gallery place for easy connections to the amtrak station, national or dulles or 1 stop away to upscale shopping in friendship heights if that's your thing. the condo complex is tucked away on a quiet street and is on the ground floor so there's super easy access and almost no steps. the APARTMENT itself is an eclectic, quaint, cozy space with a well sized guest room and VERY VERY FIRM bed, great but quiet AC unit for hot summer days and nights i were there. lots of natural sunlight but with good shades blocking out early am sun. debbie even cleaned out the br closet as well as fridge and shelf space for me if i wanted to use the kitchen and offered tea, coffee, water daily. small but ample and clean bathroom with awesome shower water pressure with a window yet still private. OVERALL it was a good stay with a great host and decent value for the cost of living (bethesda housing is insane). i'll presume most people will be here for business or perhaps to offset bethesda or dc hotel prices--which is a perfect reason to stay. might a bit "far" for daily trips into the district for guests who have sightseeing in mind but a good way to save money if you have the extra time and very conveniently located to the necessary metro stop. if have a car, the drive to into the district via connecticut street is quite scenic, with a few suburban town hubs along the way (the road trails the metro line) and debbie offers a parking spot right out front. i would recommend this listing for the reasons all stated above and debbie as a host! thanx debbie!
About the Host, Debra
I'm a nonprofit professional working in international development, education and youth leadership. I'm vegetarian and enjoy being outdoors in nature. When I lived in Bethesda, I had very nice experiences renting the guest room in my condo through Airbnb. Now, our nonprofit has moved to a house Silver Spring, and I've moved with the organization. In addition to our office and living quarters, we have two guest rooms to rent out. I'm looking forward to sharing our nice space with some interesting people!
