  • I highly recommend staying here. Karen is wonderful and the place is nice, cozy, and clean. I was only able to stay for the weekend and wish I was still there. I would also recommend going to the Burmese restaurant which is nearby…it will knock your socks off!

  • Karen is a great hostess! She accommodated my request for late evening arrival, and helped me settle in. Her home is well curated with all the amenities one might hope for - from kitchen supplies, food to bed & bath items.

The residence has a couple of other (seemingly permanent) residents, who are also very congenial and welcoming. There was no noise or disturbances to worry about, and people seemed to keep to themselves for most part. The parking is on the street but there was never any lack of it - the street has plenty of parking spaces, and I was always able to park right in front of the residence.

Karen was also very flexible about check-out times, and was open to letting stay later than the nominal departure times found in hotels and other B&B's, apartment rentals etc. I didn't have to take her up on this flexibility, but I appreciated it nevertheless.

The garden, and the common areas, exceeded my expectations by a wide margin. The internet connectivity was also more than adequate, and I was able to connect to the wireless network from anywhere within the house, and the bandwidth and reliability of the connection allowed for a seamless experience in casual browsing, email etc.

Here are some things to note for future visitors.

There is a housecat who is very sociable and not at all bothersome, but if you have allergies, or a general expectation of not wanting to deal with pets even peripherally, you might want to take this fact into account.

The private bathroom is of a European inspired design. The bath is a sit-in tub with a flexible shower-hose, but does not permit a stand in shower, nor does it have curtains. In other words, one must sit in the tub for a bath. The residence has a common bathroom with a standing shower that is more familiar to North Americans - so there is an alternative for those who prefer the familiar.

These are not complaints or negative characterizations - I for one didn't find these to be an issue of consequence, but these are still worth noting in a review for completeness' sake. I would definitely consider the Parker Heritage House again in my future visits to Vancouver.

  • My husband and I recently visited our son in Vancouver and stayed with Karen. Our experience was just great! Karen is a wonderful host who made us feel at home instantly. The location was perfect for us as we were able to walk to our son's home and most of the areas we wanted to visit. If we didn't walk we were able to navigate easily using the transit system. I would recommend this BnB without hesitation. Thank you Karen for a great visit.

  • Karen, has an amazing ability to make you feel at home, even though it is not your home. It is a really well located, close to a great part of Vancouver.

The art, room & overall "vibe" in the house is extremely welcoming. You will not be disappointed!

It is a wonderful place to rest...

  • Karen's house is really nice, the street is lined with great big trees and her yard is as green as it can be. I didn't get to meet Karen though, but her sit in hosts were really great and answered all my questions, even let me come back for a few hours because I missed my flight! This is seriously a great place to stay -- oh did I mention the queen bed is seriously awesome too? Can't beat breakfast + nice place to stay!

  • Karen is a wonderful host. Super accommodating and friendly. I happened to get there for a Sunday dinner with some other guest and Karen's friends - what a great welcome. the bedrooms are clean, wonderfully decorated and the whole house certainly has a lovely eye to the detail. Sad to be leaving so soon.

You can't really pick a better location - close to funky Commercial Drive (especially lovely for a sunday stroll), a short bike ride to hipster-ville (Strathcona, Chinatown) and easy access to all else that lovely Vancouver has to offer! I'll be back soon!

  • Karen was a fantastic host. We were greeted at the door, given the low down and straight away felt at home. She gave us hints and maps on things to do and even had us share her easter sunday brunch.

  • Karen was very friendly and helpful. Her home was very comfortable and welcoming. The lighting in the bedroom was not ideal but the bed was excellent and the room was warm. Transport was just a short walk away and was frequent. An enjoyable stay.

  • Excellent. Karen and her 'roomie' were fun, helpful and kind. Her home is very welcoming and serene especailly the garden setting in backyard. The breakfast choices are plentiful and healthy...hand picked blueberries!! Tea and coffee throughout the day. Please request srumcious sprouted bread...good enough to want some shipped all the way back home to Hawaii!!
