The host is very responsive and helpful. Before arriving he had given us some tips about our stay. Beverages provided in the refrigerator, were a welcome touch. We did have a minor issue with the house and the host responded right away to try to fix it. The repair needed additional work so he generously refunded a portion of our rental fee. Our stay was in no way ruined by the minor hassle and his quick and helpful response was greatly appreciated.
The house is in a great location with easy access to transportation and only a few minutes walk to the center of town. It is an old house with plenty of space. We appreciated two TV areas for the night it rained, kids and adults could each have their space. We rented bikes and it was easy & fun to bike to different beaches during the day. We stored the bikes on the back patio. We used the kitchen to make breakfast every morning and it worked great except the chairs were a little rickety - so be careful.
We really enjoyed our first trip to Nantucket - took free shuttles to Cisco Brewery & Millie's at Madaket beach to see the sunset & play on the beach. The Whaling Museum was perfect for a rainy day & very interesting.
Wonderful trip all around. The house was much larger than we expected. Several rooms to relax in. We had a group of 5 and there was still areas of privacy that weren't bedrooms. Located so close to town but quiet. No car needed. The host alex always responded to inquires within minutes. Nantucket is absolutely wonderful. Based on the price point, expectations exceeded We had a blast. Thx alex!!
The location of the property is very convenient with plenty of room to spread out.
We arrived to a house that had been closed up for the season and was a furnace. I had to raise the storm windows and lower the screen on about twenty windows. The box fans which provide the only air circulation were covered in crud. Lamps were not plugged in and many of them had blown out bulbs. Be sure to bring your own tissues, toothpaste and shampoo. Be prepared to go on a scavenger hunt to find towels and wash cloths. The beds are comfortable. The furniture in the common areas (kitchen and downstairs living room) consisted of broken cane chairs and ancient upholstered chairs and sofas that may be as old as the house and not suitable for entertaining. There were cobwebs throughout the house. Multiple instances of broken panes of glass in the windows. The front screen door does not lock (the hook is installed backward and does not reach the eye to secure the door.). The courtyard is lovely but populated with broken lawn furniture, cigar butts and fallen branches. Nantucket recycles but there were no receptacles nor instructions to accomplish recycling to leave a smaller footprint. Internet and TV worked fine. I was in contact with Alex on multiple occasions to inform him of the conditions but his responses indicated that he was unbothered and unconcerned. Great location, great potential, inadequate preparation for guests.
The house is beautiful - old and charming and in a great location near the center of town but a few blocks set back from the main streets. Alex was very easy to communicate with and helpful. I'd stay here again for sure.
I found dealing with Alex quite pleasant. He was helpful in his description of the house and while we did not run into any issues, he made it known he would address any issues immediately. The place itself was on a very quiet street and only a 5 minute walk to Straight Wharf. It was really ideal. The road got little traffic so it was incredibly peaceful. The house had everything we needed and nothing we didn't: comfortable beds, back patio area, nice kitchen area, clean throughout. We were only there for the weekend, but I would certainly recommend a longer stay for anyone interested.
