The Cottage is a newly-renovated, fully-furnished 1933 home. It sits just north of the harbor and 'downtown', away from the little bit of commerce we have. Its refrigerator is papered with notes from past guests! The most recent addition is Netflix.
The Cottage sits 4 easy-walk blocks from Carrabelle harbor. In 2012 the city completed new accessible sidewalks throughout the harbor area, so all of the little downtown is reachable .
1933 was the year a father completed this home for a wedding present for his daughter. It has all been recently remodeled, including central AC, stainless appliances and marble kitchen countertop. Large, open interiors are perfect for easy vacationing. Cable TV/DVD/WiFi always available. 3 bedrooms, one bath (between 2 bedrooms), suitable for a max of 6 people. So fully-equipped, just bring yourselves and food and drink!
Construction is tongue-and-groove pine, used for floors, walls and ceilings. The house sits up 2 easy steps, so that it is well-ventilated underneath. The large, breezy front porch runs the full width of the house and can seat a crowd for relaxing reading or socializing. Screen doors fore and aft allow nice air circulation in the temperate months if you prefer fresh air instead of AC.
2 miles to Carrabelle Beach - the whitest sand beach in the area, and we have multiple access points into state and national forests, and multiple free boat launch points. Do nothing or do something every day--Come see Carrabelle and the Forgotten Coast!
The Cottage, in addition to the porches, has a paver courtyard, open deck with seating and BBQ grill. Many guests like to set up the old laptop or tablet (or whatever you call it this week) on the dining room table in peace and quiet and use the WiFi.
Interaction with guests
Hopefully you will like the fact that we don't feel that we have to become your new "best friends". We are here to provide you a comfortable, relaxing squeaky-clean stay in a beautiful coastal environment. We are available if you need anything.
Other things to note
Copies of the Guide to the Big Bend Scenic Byway are in the living room. You may also see and download the 'pdf' on their website. A great travel info guide for the Forgotten Coast.
The Cottage is a 1933 building, built well but to old standards. No insulation, for instance, so we ask that all guests follow reasonable conservation practices.
All systems are 21st century, so your stay will be comfortable.
We discourage (but allow) children under 12, because we are not child-proof.
A dog is welcome, but not his fleas, climbing on furniture (no dogs in beds!) or excessive barking. Thanks!

We instituted and maintain the Key West style of the Hotel because we loved the old tropical "Wild West" ambience of the island, its architecture, landscaping and its casual atmosphere. And Carrabelle these days has much of that flavor, at a much lower price.
If you like casual and natural, this may be your favorite spot!
NOW: please note that with the number of rooms/cottage(s) we have, we can NOT keep up-to-date calendars on all booking sites. So if you see a calendar, DO NOT go by it!
