The Space

Two-story house with hardwood floors, free WiFi and right across the street from the MLK rail stop which runs all SXSW week: (website hidden). More convenient than being downtown because the train drops you off on East Sixth or the Convention Center, which is the hub of Interactive. 3 Queen beds plus two air mattresses and a couple couches. Huge deck outside to enjoy the great Spring weather. Towels/soap/shampoo included. Washer/dryer and kitchen included. MUST NOT BE ALLERGIC TO CATS OR DOGS AS THERE IS ONE OF EACH IN THE HOUSE NORMALLY.

Also, convenient to downtown since two stops (10 mins) on the rail gets you there for only $1!! Train runs until Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Cheap cab back too...Plenty of parking around house.

Lived in Austin for 10 years so know all the hot spots and will definitely fill you in!

Near Bennu Coffee, East Side Pies, and all restaurants on Manor Road like El Chile, El Chilito, Hoover's Southern Cooking, VIVO, Flat Top Burgers. Also, good areas to walk around on nice days. Bike friendly neighborhood and only 1.5 miles from the center of UT's campus. #18 bus goes down MLK and then over to the cute neighborhood of Clarksville.

  • Really great, friendly folks! Nice house, super location, And if you talk nicely to him, their beagle will share his chair with you. Nice touch.

  • Nick and D were very accommodating, the place was just as described and also came with a nice computer work station that I used extensively. The location couldn't have been better. I had a 4 day education conference at the convention center and the metro rail line was 1-2min walk from the house and then I was delivered directly to the door of the convention center in less than 10 mins for a $1.00. Approximately 10-15 min walk a way is Manor Rd with at least 10 restaurants. At first I thought that was far but it was not and the quality and quantity of food available made me glad I was able to walk some of it off in the nice neighborhood back to my home.
Thank you Nick for letting me be a guest in you home. Look forward to seeing you down here in Baja Sur.

  • Nick was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. The room/floor was comfortable and clean. The location is very close to easily accessible public transportation during the day, but the train stops running into downtown at 6pm, so is a bit more difficult to travel to and from at night, But it's only about a $10 cab ride from downtown. Also, very close to UT where there are lots of cool places to check out and there's a great 24 hour coffee shop right up the street on MLK. And don't forget to check out the food truck right down the block near the MLK redline stop, really good food and friendly chefs running it.

Over all I had a very pleasant stay here, especially given the affordable price.

  • This was a very easy stay (my first via AirBnb). Nick was especially accommodating about meeting me after a very late arrival in town. The room was neat, comfortable and quiet. I was easily able to come and go according to my own schedule.

  • Nick went the extra mile in preparation for my stay. Unfortunately, inclement weather changed my travel itinerary and I was unable make it to Austin. That aside, Nick provided helpful information prior to my change of plans. I'd highly recommend him for his skills in coordination and communication.

  • Nick has a great place, great private bathroom, roommate is great to talk to. Just one block off the rail station is a huge plus, gets you in and out of the city -- though beware the train doesn't run past 6:30pm so you may cab it home some nights. Also, there are no amenities near the house so do your shopping, eating in town. None of this is a negative, just useful to know when planning.

  • I'm from LA and I know nothing about Austin until I got there. I really enjoyed the nightlife in downtown during the event. Very friendly people and laid back. I thought about staying in a hotel but I was on a limited budget. I'm glad I found Nick's place on Airbnb that's very affordable. His place is a newly built house located a few miles away from downtown. All amenities are included including "Jasmine", the cat. Transportation is nearby and only for a dollar. I'll definitely stay at his place next time I visit.
    Thanks Nick
