Close in but worlds apart, this arts-centered two-floor suite offers great nature views, valley breezes, star gazing, tranquility and a healthy dose of what Sayulita is all about! Large outdoor kitchen/patio, 15 minute flat walk to town, sleeps 6-8.
The Great Beach-Town Nature Retreat offers you a relaxing vacation that is the BEST of BOTH WORLDS.
Located south of the village, the walk up cobblestone Av. Revolucion, as it gradually climbs to meet the the "high" road to Punta de Mita, takes you from Sayulita’s bustling Plaza and beach scene (and famous surf break!), to the green, clean and much cooler (five degrees cooler) south side of town. The peace and tranquility of the area is like a huge sigh of relief!
Nicely furnished and decorated, private and secure - THE GREAT BEACH-TOWN NATURE RETREAT offers great rates and value for the the money! BETTER than Hostel rates!
NATURE RETREAT SUITE is a unique two-floor (double-decker) suite - comprised of BOTH the second and third floors - which can easily accommodate a large group. The second-floor features TWO private 13 ft, x 13 ft. enclosed one-bedroom apartments, we call casitas, with a shared en-suite bathroom in between. Locks on both sides of each door provides privacy and security for both apartments.
Both apartments - named Casita Teatro to the right and Casita Danza to the left - open out onto the charming roofed 13 ft. x 30 ft. second-floor terrace - combined living room and dining room - with amazing tree-level jungle views from which you can watch all the bird and butterfly activity. The fully-equipped outdoor kitchen features a 6-burner stove with oven and has everything you need for making and enjoying your eat-in meals.
A true nature-area retreat and truly a little gem! This second-floor open-air terrace is a favorite spot for so many of our guests! When you are not at the beach or enjoying plaza-area diversions, the terrace is where you will want to spend your time relaxing, reading, talking or just enjoying the amazing natural ambiance. It's a fact! The deep valley cross breezes - wafting across the terrace and through the bedroom apartment - keep it 5-10 degrees COOLER, than areas closer to the plaza! High speed ceiling fans help, also.
The entire suite is nicely decorated and furnished with charming traditionally-Mexican and many "custom" features. Many built-in architectural nooks amplify the space, creating natural "conversation areas" throughout. Each area has its own specific view and visual aspect to enjoy. Discover your favorite area!
Each Casita offer many custom and artistic features throughout including an interior sloped tile roof, as an architectural accent, and a shell and ocean-rock decorative shower in the private 2 meter by 2 meter (6 and 1/2 by 6 and 1/2 ft.) bathroom. There is abundant hot water for long, relaxing showers.
Each features a double or "matrimonial"-size bed and is large enough to add a single/individual-size bed inside, if there is a need. The patio features a futon couch which can also be used as a bed.
Furniture includes the double bed with decorative carved headboard, a large wooden wardrobe/dresser, a table with four chairs, for inside-the-bedroom dining (or internet use), and a nightstand. Ornate security windows and doors bring in much light and help catch the cooling valley breezes. Frosted, leaf-patterned glass adds privacy and adds to the charm!
Traveling up a charming spiral staircase, is the entire roofed third floor area with stunning, above-the-tree-level panoramic views. This is an ample 20 ft. x 26 ft multi-purpose mostly open-air apartment, but which also is divided into partially-walled areas, with beds situated strategically to accommodate many. With several additional beds available, the entire double-decker, 2-floor suite can easily sleep 6-8 people.
The property is protected and secure with the entire perimeter walled and gated for added security and privacy. The large wooden front gate includes a door for your separate keyed entrance. Additionally, exclusively for Suite guests is a second gate (with lock and key) at the entrance to the 2-floor Suite which ensures added privacy/security for guests.

The Suite's (and two charming casitas also on site) best "HIDDEN SECRET" is its direct access to three of the area's most stunning SECLUDED BEACHES - Patzcuarito (which is DIRECTLY across the road) Carricitos and Playa de los Muertos.
The path leading to all three beaches is a mere "stone's throw" from the end of the driveway. Guests often prefer going to the Plaza/Main beach the "back way" vis a vis this beautiful nature walk which winds through the cemetery and along the bay through Villa Amor. If walking on the paved roads into town doesn't appeal, this great option certainly will!
Also, PLEASE NOTE, for those who prefer to walk on the paved roads to and from the Plaza/Main beaches, for added safety there is a below-grade foot path which runs alongside the brief stretch of the Punta de Mita that many guests prefer to use.
Sayulita is a breezy 30 minute bus ride from the airport. Getting here from the airport could not be easier! Just use the pedestrian stairs/bridge to the left of the airport exit doors.
The bus stop for the Sayulita Compostela bus is right at the bottom of the stairs on the other side of the highway. The fare is about $40 pesos each. It runs about every 20 min. so the wait is never that long. Or, there are many rental car options available right at the airport.
After your fun bus ride through the lush jungle, any local Taxi can deliver you straight to the door.
Hosts have many recommendations for transportation needs including easily-arranged Golf Cart rentals. Several rental car agencies are now located in Sayulita and provide a variety of options and pricing for your stay. After the bus arrives, it's a short walk to Sayulita's main plaza, past north-side shops and over the bridge, towards the town hub and activity.

We appreciate our guests and deeply respect that it's their vacation. As some guests prefer privacy and others company, hosts are happy to accommodate guests' preferences to interact frequently or not to whatever comfort level or preference each guest prefers.
The Great Beach-Town Nature Retreat is situated, as the crow flies, directly across from one of the area's most beautiful secluded beaches - Playa Patzcuarito. This is also a prime location for surfing all areas along the coast near Punta de Mita. Or...walking the intricate network of jungle trails leading to the area's other wonderful secluded beaches closer-in to town - Playa Carricitos and Playa de Los Muertos. Playa Patzcuarito is a beautiful ten-to-fifteen minute walk away.
This is a tranquil, private and protected nature area with many fruit and flowering trees. Crowing roosters either add to the charm or occasionally annoy, but are part of the natural ambiance.
Birds, native to the area, flock to nearby trees throughout the day and into the early evening, also creating ambient sound. This is a natural birdwatcher's paradise. In season, a constant array of multicolored butterflies completes the daily "nature show." The comical Chachalacas (related to the wild Turkey) and in-coming flocks of the sweet but noisy Pericos (green wild parakeets) will keep you charmed and entertained.
Enjoy Sayulita's fine restaurants, unique jewelry made by local artisans, colorful boutiques, lively nightlife with live music, horseback, snorkeling, fishing, boating and hiking tours and activities. It’s a mere 30-45 -minute (depending on traffic) drive south to Puerto Vallarta and/or equidistant to areas of interest to the north along the Riviera Nayarit coast.

Lesley and Martin are so hospitable and awesome!! Immediate connection and if there was a rating for best host chemistry I would give them a 105/10. The house is way bigger then it looks in the photos and the top floor balcony is beautiful. The location is the great. Going to sleep soundly without loud music and the hustle of bustle of the main sayulita strip was the best! The beds were very comfortable and the outdoor kitchen is lovely for some cocktails or a nice quiet dinner. It was also really secure and we felt totally safe the whole time. It was also a cherry on top that our hosts took their time and developed the house themselves and their awesome handy work is visible throughout the house. Very minimal mosquitoes I feel like I maybe got one mosquito bite the whole time. Loved staying here! I will be visiting with Martin and Lesley as friends every time I come to sayulita that is only IF the blue casa is not available.
The house was exactly as described, a nice option within a few minutes walk from the main action center in Sayulita. We liked the way it allowed us to visit a great beach that was beautiful and secluded, which Leslie nicely showed us right upon our arrival. We also especially enjoyed having breakfast in the outdoor kitchen.
Leslie and Martin were welcoming and easily available for requests when we needed something. When we got there, Leslie showed us around town so we would know the essentials: best ATM, good breakfast spot, grocery stores... This was great and very useful!
It was nice to be away from the main action to enjoy calm time when we wanted to, but the distance from the center required that we planned more thougtfully trips to and from town, it is a good 15 minutes walk. And you absolutely need a headlamp to walk back at night.
LA and Martin are friendly and attentive hosts. The house is great, exactly what I was expecting. It's outdoors, just on the outskirts of town (so you can walk in), surrounded by trees, butterflies, lizards, birds, and roosters. The beds are comfortable, they supplied towels, soap, and bottled water for drinking. I will definitely stay again the next opportunity I have to go to Sayulita.
We had a Great Stay at the Great Beach-Town Nature lodge! From the beginning L.A and Martin made us feel like we were home. Even tho we arrive earlier than we initially told them, they welcomed us with a smile!
The place was just amazing, with the forest around, we felt like we were one with the nature around us.
As soon as we arrived, the provided us with fans, water and everything else we needed, even good tips on how to get to the other nice beaches around. They even called us and bargained us a good price for the taxi back to Puerto Vallarta.
We also enjoyed our little walk to/from the town each day. To be honest, after spending all day on the beach, it was nice to walk 10-15 minutes to get home.
The place was clean, safe, with a great vibe. I would never hesitate to suggest it to anyone going to Sayulita.
Thank you so much for everything,
Hopefully see you again in Sayulita!
Catherine, Eliane and Lea.
We just returned from a month long stint at L.A. and Martin's place. We had a wonderful time in Sayulita, and really enjoyed staying with them. The space is gorgeous, and it's close to town and some beautiful, secluded coves that we enjoyed visiting. For us, it was truly the best deal in Sayulita for our budget and time frame. They provided all of the necessities listed, and had several options or ideas for activities, as well. We appreciated the mosquito nets and fans provided upon request, as we were there during the hot season. We weren't interested in sharing a sleeping space, etc. as you would in a hostel, and this was not only cheaper than the hostels, but it also afforded us the security we were seeking in a place, as well. If you stay here and the walk to and from town is bogging you down, you can always get cab - but we enjoyed the jaunt. The road can be busy from time to time, and there really isn't any shoulder/sidewalk to walk on, but traffic is generally understanding of pedestrians. We love Sayulita, and we were grateful for the opportunity to enjoy it for a full month in a great spot.
Well, great! We are so happy that everything went pretty smoothly, everyone seemed to enjoy both our accommodation and Sayulita, and - most importantly - that everyone had a good time! Having guests for a month-long stay is a fairly unique experience for us - since we specialize in shorter-term vacation rentals. Once again, we were so happy to have the company of these wonderful guests!
This was a great stay! The house is very nice, very typical Mexican. The main room has a fan, great bathroom that Martin has created himself; concrete covered in sea shells. The kitchen is outside. Fully equipped for cooking, with a fridge and gas stove and oven. Hard to say anything bad.
It's about a quarter mile out of town, but it's such an easy walk. And is really worth it. Great value for money. Great Hosts.
LA and Martin have a beautiful home. We loved the color and open feel of the entire house. We enjoyed sleeping in the open upstairs floor on the hot Sayulita nights and waking up to a lush jungle and hills in the distance. As others have mentioned, a rooster lives in the neighboring house, so bring ear plugs. He sometimes feels inspired in the middle of the night. Also ask about the status of neighboring construction, as this can sometimes wake you up early in the morning. Again, ear plugs are helpful for this. After the sun has set we loved to watch the geckos catch flies and bugs attracted to the lights in the open kitchen.
The walk to town was as described. Be ready to walk along the highway with the locals and be cautious of drivers. Once you reach the cobble stones in town, grab a coconut at the stand off of the highway. It is the best we've ever had!
LA was great about sharing her experiences with the local restaurants and activities. We enjoyed her enthusiasm and welcoming attitude. LA, her son, and Martin, we all very helpful and accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed. We had a great experience here!

We are a bi-cultural couple who live on the premises. We are both easy-going and personable people, with a passion for interesting and kind people who treat others kindly, for the lively and friendly exchange of ideas and for engaging discussions on all topics (or, alternately, silence is also good). Our motto: All travelers are welcome!. Other passions are travel (spontaneous road trips!), the beach, nature in general, philosophy, good food (luscious tropical fruit and seafood), GOOD FRIENDS and the arts – visual art, music, dancing and poetry. Our strong beliefs are that similarities and the connections between people are much greater than any differences. Travel is the universal teacher and the universal equalizer. Favorite television shows are International House Hunters, intelligent crime dramas, boxing, wrestling and irreverent comedy. High quality films (with or without subtitles) - always good! Music – all music with Latin-based rhythms (Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue), Reggae, European-based Classical music (especially from the Baroque era), music from the Mexican Romantic Ballad tradition, Contemporary and Experimental (Phillip Glass, Electronic), Intense or Ballad-based Rock 'n Roll (Queens of the Stone Age, Leonard Cohen) - in short, ANY music, if it's good. We are here to facilitate the best possible vacation any guest could have!
