This is a charming 1 bedroom apartment in the heart of San Francisco. Just 2 blocks away from the famous Fillmore Street (great shops and restaurants!!) and central to many other fun areas- the location cannot be beat! The apartment has a remodeled kitchen and bathroom, has a shabby-chic decor, and is perfect for 1 or 2 people looking to enjoy the wonderful city of San Francisco! The place is all yours while you stay and enjoy a bottle of Napa Valley wine when you arrive.
The area offers:
*Fantastic restaurants and cafes (Out the Door, SPQR, Fresca, Woodhouse Grill, Elite Cafe, Florio, Le Boulange, Solstice, Tortilla Heights, Sushi, etc).
* 2 blocks from the famous Sundance Kabuki movie theater where you can watch all new releases
* Mollie Stone and Safeway grocery stores are each 2 blocks away.
* There's a recreation center close by that has a small gym, basketball & tennis courts, pool, etc.
* Beautiful Alta Plaza park just four blocks away with views of the entire city, tennis courts and playground.
*MUNI bus transit going to most of the city a block away from the building (on Sutter and Geary). There is also plenty of parking in the neighborhood (just make sure to watch the signs for street cleaning!)
* 2 blocks from the UCSF hospital
Please note that the apartment is on the 3rd floor so you'll need to be OK walking up and down stairs.
Lovely experience at this location. Having traveled to the Bay Area before, my husband and I were seeking more of a neighborhood experience and this cute apartment was definitely the ticket! A delightful stroll up to Fillmore for dinner and drinks with friends, and back again in no time. The area is safe and well-appointed, with plenty of adjacent convenience stores, restaurants and the like to satisfy any need.
Although we didn't meet our host, she ensured access to the apartment and getting settled was effortless in every way. As she mentions, there are three flights of stairs to reach the apartment, so consider that in your plans. The unit is clean, bright and altogether charming, with plenty of space to spread your legs after a long day of walking. One note for light sleepers: there are some nighttime sounds from the floor above, so bring your own "white noise" in the form of a fan or iPhone app.
Overall, a wonderful jumping off point to get better acquainted with San Francisco and all it has to offer. This was a delightful experience and we would definitely stay again.
From the photos and reviews we had seen I thought my wife and I hit the jackpot so we booked our 5 night stay at Sara's place to end our honeymoon trip before heading home.
THE PHOTOS LIE - On arrival I was a bit confused; I thought we were in the wrong unit. I had to take out my phone and actually look at the photos of the listing to confirm we were in the correct place. The nice cozy duvet, the antique furniture, lamps, things hanging on the wall. Most of it has been removed (why? I don't know). This unit does not feel anything like the photos suggest and those misleading photos should be taken down.
NO WINE - arriving at 10:30pm and feeling a little taken advantage of by the misleading photos we took solace in the fact that Sara leaves a complimentary bottle of wine for her new guests. We looked around everywhere for it and didn't find one. There wasn't one for us as we were led to believe when booking.
BROKEN SECURITY - the deadbolt lock on the door is unfathomable. There is a single screw which holds the lock into the door frame. If somebody wanted to open the door when locked they could literally lean on the door and it would pop open. We brought this to Sara's attention and she said she would have it taken care of. Nothing was done about it.
NO TOILET PAPER - On our fourth day we ran out of our first roll of toilet paper so I began looking around for a second roll. To my dismay there wasn't ANY! We contacted Sara to let her know and she said she would have some dropped off....she didn't!
NO EXTRA BLANKET - it was brisk at night during our stay and my wife was pretty cold so I figured another blanket would do the job. I went through all of her closets and discovered there wasn't a single extra blanket available to cover us both up in bed.
USED TOILETRIES? - we weren't going to use the complimentary toiletries that were so nicely placed on our rolled towels which were on our bed. We brought our own. But if you are going to make this gesture and offer toiletries in this fashion perhaps they shouldn't be previously used toiletries?
In conclusion: I think Sara means well. If you are going to offer somebody your property as an accommodation service you need to be very honest and you need to follow up on what you've promised without the guests having to ask for it. We were let down considerably. We did not have high expectations and we both know we are not "diva's" or "high maintenance". I guess we expected to be treated as we would treat guests staying in our home. The experience left us feeling ripped off and our impression of Sara being more of a business person than a host.
We had a great time at this beautiful appartment! The location is just perfect. The neighbourhood is very safe and nice. Close to shops, bars and restaurants. Bus station (with direct connection to the city center) is just a few blocks from the appartment. Communication with Elizabeth was very easy and fast. We will definitely stay here again.
Great place, great location and great price! Highly recommend it.
The apartment was very spacious, clean, and had good instructions as well as a number of guidebooks and maps for the Bay Area. Elizabeth was very responsive when contacted with any questions and ensured I was able to access the apartment.
We have spent three comfortable nights in Elizabeth's really quiet apartment. The building is perfectly located (for us tourists). We even walked (!) to the city center. It's very clean and tastefully furnished, and Elizabeth was very helpful when we wanted to pospone our checkout for 1 hour. Thanks again!
My boyfriend and I had a great couple of days in San Francisco, and we enjoyed staying in Elisabeth's apartment big time!
The place is super cozy and well-located; clean and quiet and we felt very welcome. Highly recommended for sure!
We only stayed in the apartment for one night. We found it quiet, very clean and nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens and both the kitchen and bathroom were fine. A comfy sitting area just off bedroom was nice too. Easy getting in and though we didn't meet Elizabeth, it was very easy to contact her in advance and her notes left in the apt. were clear and covered everything. Would recommend this lodging.
Sara's apartment was very clean and comfy. Her place is located in a perfect location near Fillmore Street which is about a 3-5 minute walk. There you will find several shops and restaurants. I recommend you stay at Sara's!
This was the best place I have stayed in SF, not because it was lavish but because the host really put in the extra effort to make the experience incredible. I really valued that and will stay here whenever I am in SF from now on. Location perfect and space so great
