The Space

*Two-night minimum year-round*
*For October 10-26 preference will be given for longer stays*

This is an charming 1-bedroom apartment with hardwood floors and a lush, sunny feel. There is a good sized kitchen, a separate dining room, living room, and bedroom with a queen-sized bed. A big bathroom includes a full shower and tub. The built-in bookshelves and original tile give this apartment a warm, cozy feel. We have a full-sized air mattress and linens for two extra people, if necessary.

The apartment is one of four units, side-by-side, in a one-story building. The front and back doors open up to tall hedges, providing privacy and greenery. The place is very quiet.

This little cottage is a perfect haven during your trip to (email hidden) a beachy lifestyle, explore the city, and relax in this conveniently located west-side apartment with easy access to Pacific Coast Hwy and the 10 and 405 freeways, and very close proximity to the Santa Monica Pier; Santa Monica, Venice, and Malibu beaches; Palisades Park; and much more.

Parking on our street is easy, yet the apartment is only three blocks from shops and restaurants on Montana Ave. We're a short walk to local coffee shops (GroundWorks, among others), a public library, LA's (supposed) most delicious burger, and a vegetarian friendly cafe and juice bar (among a million other places!). We're 20 blocks from the ocean, and close (1.5 miles) to Third Street Promenade. Montana is a prime spot for brunches or a glass of wine. Additionally, there are two Whole Foods within walking distance, a small grocery store within a block, and farmers' markets nearby on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are coin-operated washer/dryers on the premises. Please ask ahead of time about pets.

In case you won't have a car when you're here, the Santa Monica Blue Bus conveniently runs from the LAX airport right by our house. Many buses run up and down Wilshire and Santa Monica Blvd as well. Ask for details if you're thinking about taking the bus.

Guest Access

Towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, coffee (beans, grinder, and french press), and teas are all available for our guests. Bocce ball set, frisbee, lawn chairs, etc. are available upon request--please ask about these if you are interested!

  • We never met Alyssa, our hostess, but she couldn't have been more "present." She was proactive and helpful in her communications and always responded to mine. The cottage was adorable, EXACTLY as expected and shown, squeaky clean, and full of charm. It's located on a blissfully quiet and lovely Santa Monica street and if I hadn't seen their doorways for myself, I'd never have known there were close neighbors. There's a great ceiling fan in the bedroom which kept things cool even during an atypical LA hot spell, and the king bed was super comfy. Street parking was almost unbelievably easy all three nights. There's a huge library of interesting books to read. All in all, just a really nice, open, place to stay, full of warmth like it's host. An easy 5-star rating. Thank you, Alyssa!

  • My friends and I LOVED Alyssa's place! It was bright, sunny, and clean; and we couldn't have asked for more. Not only was the cottage very nice, but the area was great as well. There are lots of fun cafes and restaurants within walking distance, and the neighborhood is beautiful. Alyssa and Aram were extremely welcoming and helpful hosts. Alyssa was very easy to reach and was incredibly helpful. I left a couple things behind and she even mailed them back to me! I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great and sunny place to stay in Santa Monica. As soon as we left, we decided that this was where we wanted to stay during our visits to Santa Monica!

I grew up in Los Angeles and love the sun, beach, and mountains. I try to spend my free time camping and exploring new places, experimenting in the kitchen, or riding my bike around town. After living on the East Coast for the last five years, I'm happy to be back in California, getting to take weekend trips to Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Bishop, and Santa Barbara!
