I have a family of all ages and we welcome all. We love a good conversation and can provide advise on where to go or what to do. We are child friendly and have a large safe garden where children can play.
Winter in this quiet neighbourhood is active only during the day when hardy sea lovers take to the water. We recommend dressing warm in winter, 'the annex' (the name of the apt) has a coal/ fuel fire which warms the apt well, there is an electric oil heater, hot water bottle and electric blanket also!
Rain is a given this time of year so pack rain gear!
There are two traditional irish pubs 3km away in Nohoval the village. A great place for walking (rambling) or water sports. Please bring warm clothes for the weather in winter!
The nearest bus stop is Belgooly. We are happy to collect and drop off to the bus stop Free of charge. We can also go to the airport, Cork city and Kinsale and charge a small nominal fee per trip.

The Cush was a wonderful weekend getaway! Ann was very helpful and responsive before our arrival and greeted us immediately when we got there in the evening. She actually ended up putting us in the Cabin rather than the Annex (two different rentals on here) and it was lovely! She left eggs, bread, jams and milk for us and had already started the fire and turned on the electric blanket on the bed.
The views from the windows and front deck of the Cabin were amazing (and the number of stars you could see at night astounding!). Exactly as pictured. We had originally booked The Cush thinking that we would sight-see in Cork - it was a bit far for that for just a weekend. Only a 35 minute drive but more than we wanted to do for just one day. Kinsale is very nearby and a quaint little town with great restaurants and pubs!
We had a lovely stay at Ann's place. The stove made us feel toasty and very comfy. The view is amazing, however the picture in the description is taken from Ann's living place and not from the Annex.
Had quite a pleasant stay- Anne greeted us with an apple tart upon our arrival and immediately started a fire for us to ensure we were warm! A bit of a distance from Cork (city center), however, if you are looking to get away from it all, look no further. Also, we ventured into the nearby town of Kinsale and had some of the best seafood of our lives. Highly recommend staying here.
Just spent three days at the Annex. We used the sat nav to find The Annex which was trouble free. Everything was as expected and described. The view is wonderful - even in winter. Anne had left milk, bread, eggs and fruit for us which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. The wood burning stove was prepared and only needed a match. There was extra fuel and wood for us too and Anne called a day later to see if we needed more coal. the Annex is set in a very quiet area of Cork but Kinsale and Cork city are just short drives away so you get the best of both worlds. Although there is Wifi there is no television reception but we had brought DVDs with us so it wasn't a problem. The only problem we had was that the wood burning stove worked too well and we were too warm sometimes - not something to complain about in winter I think. Thanks to Ann and her son for making us feel welcome.
Previous reviews told the story of this location perfectly. Stunningly beautiful, although, in winter, the view is different from the picture, whilst no less captivating! We were lucky to have lovely weather on Xmas Day so wrapped ourselves up and sat out on the benches, eating lunch and drinking a glass of wine, overlooking this lovely bay and basking in the peace and tranquility. Heaven!
We stayed in the Annexe, which provided basic but everything-
you-need facilities. It was toasty warm with a lovely roaring hot wood
burner. There was an electric blanket but we didn't need it as we were
lovely and warm. We fancy the Cabin for our next trip as the friendly
American guests staying there invited us in for a drink and it is lovely!
Ann, Tom and family made us feel very welcome and we felt we had
help on hand when we needed it, whilst enjoying our own space. You
could stay here for days without wishing to venture out, if, like us, you
had all your food and drink with you!
However, if you want to get out and about, it's an ideal location. It's
only 10 minutes drive from Kinsale, where there is a Supervalu, Centra
and Eurospar. There's a lovely harbour, some little shops to browse,
lots of eateries - try fish and chips in Dinos opposite harbour and
atmosphere and traditional music galore! Even closer, the local
restaurant/bar, the Finders End, in Nohoval just 3kms way, was also
very friendly and there's a second bar we didn't get to try as it was Xmas holidays.
Clonakilty, half an hour away is a must visit for little shops and friendly
pubs and nearby Inchydoney beach is unbelievably beautiful and perfect for that walk to blow away those cobwebs!
All in all, we had a lovely restful 5 day break and are so chuffed we
found and chose this location to stay in. We will definitely return later in the year!!
We had a lovely stay with Ann. Everything were well prepared at our arrival. The house, This around that area and the beautiful view is absolutely great. We would be pleased to stay again with Ann.
