About This Listing
We offer stunning views, convenient access to town, and abundant wildlife. The Bamboo Bungalow, nestled into the jungle, is clean and comfortable and comes fully equipped. Agua Vista provides the perfect combination of seclusion and accessibility.
The Bamboo Bunglaow is a teak one bedroom, one bathroom, casita with an equipped kitchen and wrap around porch. It is tucked into the jungle along the Montezuma River. That rushing sound you hear is the river roaring below you towards the famous Montezuma Waterfalls. From the porch you can soak in the view of the gulf and the parade of wildlife through the jungle canopy. The hot water indoor shower has a huge window open to the jungle canopy with peek a boo views to the ocean - it feels like showering in the jungle. The bungalow also comes with an outdoor shower nestled into the stand of bamboo next to the bungalow. Rustic, comfortable, cozy, and secluded.
The infinite edge pool is situated nearby and is available for use by all of our guests.
Interaction with Guests
Khalida & Alex are available to assist with local information and tours and are on hand to take care of any issues related to the house.
We are located directly on the Montezuma River with 800 meters of river front and direct private access via well maintained trails. We have several very nice mini falls and dipping pools at our point on the river and a 10 minute walk down river will bring you to the top two falls of the famous Montezuma waterfalls. The third and final fall descends over 80 feet and is only safely accessed from below.
We are located approximately 2 km to both town and the beach, which is a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk. Slightly more than half of this distance is on our driveway which is a winding dirt road through secondary forest. There are several hills along the way, the most notable one on the main road which is a long steep hill into Montezuma.
Though most of our guests do rent a car, approximately 40% do not and either rely on taxis or walking to get to and from town and the beach. If you do not plan on doing a lot of touring around, taking taxis can be more economical, if slightly less convenient. If you find after you arrive that you would like to rent a car, we can arrange this for you.
Awesome place !! Conveniently located, about 5 min from beautiful Montezuma and 10 min from Cóbano, where you can get groceries to cook at home. You can also get to Santa Teresa, Playa Carmen and Mal Pais in about 20 min. We were warmly welcomed by the Host, Alex, who made us feel home and gave us lots of tips and advice about the area. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed. A river runs through the property with a couple of accessible waterfalls that you can hear while taking a hot shower. Shower was so great we wanted to take like 5 showers a day, but of course you have to be conscious about natural resources and save water, not only here, but everywhere in the world you travel.
Nice pool to cool off when you get back from the beautiful beaches. The cabin gets the nicest breeze all day long and you don't even need a fan most of the time. And at nigh if you leave the windows open (with the screen of course), you feel like you had the AC on. One morning while cooking breakfast, we were visited by 6 "Cara Blanca" monkeys, waiting on the deck for us to give them food. Don't feed them. They get plenty of food from the jungle around. Don't leave any food out or all the animals around will try to get in even through the screen.
All and all, we had a wonderful time staying at Bamboo Vista. Thanks Alex, we will be back and recommend your place to all of our friends.
Our stay at Agua Vista July 30 to August 6 was wonderful! The bamboo cabin was beautiful and simple. The view was incredible and we woke up every morning at first light to the calls of the howler monkeys. Beautiful butterflies and humming birds visited us daily and the sound of the river in the distance was an exciting experience. We loved the shower with the forest view. The beaches were incredible and everyone we met was friendly and happy. We wanted to stay forever.

About the Host, AguaVista
The four rental houses at Agua Vista are located in the lush hills above Montezuma, at the bottom of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.
We are a Tico-Gringa couple who met here in 1993 and have two little monkeys of our own. He hails from neighboring Cóbano and she comes all the way from New Jersey, USA.
After living in The Big Apple for 9 years, we decided to move back to the 'ol hometown in 2006 so the kids could swap jungle gyms for the jungle, and we happily left computer maintenance and children's animated television behind!
Because of our bicultural heritage and our deep roots in the local community, we are able to provide you with an authentic Costa Rican experience that also respects the unique concerns of tourists from abroad.
