  • I can't give this place any less than 5 stars. The house is amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. It was very relaxing to chill out in the living room and on the porch. The view from the bedroom is fantastic.

You can hear the sounds of tree frogs and birds outside at night. My wife found this very calming.

  • So delighted and still relaxed from our 3 night stay at Winter Pond. Have stayed on Orcas for years, this is absolutely the best vacation rental we have found. Beautiful, comfortable well thought out home and grounds. Loved the bird song beautiful views and stars at night from the balcony as well as our rooms. Cozy touches all around. Nadine was thoughtful to meet us briefly to see that all was well with our stay. Will be back for a longer stay next time!

  • I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful house in which to stay. Everything about it was perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would come back again. No doubt.

The house is filled with natural light, the yard is beautiful and there is so much to look at. Beautiful birds visit the feeder, the views from the house are amazing, the kitchen is one of the best equipped I have used and the inside of the house is so nicely appointed. Tree frogs can be heard at night - they sound so close. It is so quiet - I could get used to that. Orcas Island is a great place to visit.

  • Winterpond is a wonderful fortress of solitude. Removed from cell phone connectivity, it's an oasis in these hyper-connected times. It was so quiet I could hear the beat of the wings of the geese that flew south in formation over my head as I sat on the deck, enjoying the morning sunrise.

Nadine's home is absolutely perfect-- thoughtful touches abound, from the Buddhist art to the well-appointed kitchen to the "Birds of the Pacific Northwest" guide by the dining room table (even if you're not a bird watcher, you'll become one by the end of your stay-- feeders are placed in direct view).

The bedroom has two walls of windows that make you feel like you're sleeping in a treehouse. I woke each morning to a glistening water view through the trees.

Highly recommend Winterpond if you're feeling the need to recharge and restore. From the guest book, it's clear that people return year after year. I can see why.

  • This house is amazing. It's super cozy, clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed tending the wood stove. There's a piano and variety of shakers if you feel like jamming. Also, there is a copy of John Prine's "Fair and Square" album in the CD collection. I probably played it ten times through. I would love to stay at this place again at some point. Highly recommended!

  • We had a fantastic stay on Orcas. Quite a secluded, relaxing location, but still never too far away from civilization. The house had everything we needed.

Don't miss visiting Doe Bay Resort for brunch....great to have such a nice spot close by (a couple of miles).

Also, we were fine, but if your stay ends up landing on a period with snow/bad weather, you would want 4-wheel drive to get to the house; it is a fairly hilly, unpaved road for the last 1/2 mile.

  • Nadine's place was absolutely lovely...honestly, the pictures cannot do it justice. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and were great for birdwatching. The wood stove kept the whole place nice and cozy during our winter stay. And the view from the bedroom was amazing! We could wake up with the sun reflecting off of the sound. Nadine was very accessible and called us after we arrived to make sure everything we needed was in place. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

  • We had a wonderful time at Nadine's home! The house is truly beautiful and very isolated from any kind of outside noise (roads, boats, planes etc.). It is definitely a great choice if you want to spend a very quiet vacation.

It was very well furnished and so cozy that we didn't even once eat at any of the great restaurants on Orcas. We just felt so great in the house that we wanted to spend as much time there as possible.

The only thing to keep in mind is that there is no division between the floors so that if one part of the party wants to sleep and another make noise it might be an issue. We had a toddler with us so we had to be very quiet when she was sleeping. That did not prevent us for enjoying the stay anyways because all we wanted to do was embrace the silence anyways.

The small dirt roads near the house are very quiet and beautiful so if you like walking you won't have to worry about cars at all. Doe Bay for example is a short walk from the house.

Obstruction Pass State Park is just a short drive and Moran State Park is not very far away either.

  • My wife and I visited Winterpond for our first wedding anniversary. We had a pleasant and comfortable stay. The house is beautifully decorated, is peaceful and has a distinct charm. The well-stocked kitchen, the quietness of the surroundings and warmth from the wooden stove kept us from leaving the coziness of house throughout the stay. We would recommend the place for someone looking for relaxation and to rejuvenate.
Nadine is a delightful person. She was flexible with our stay. She advised us wisely to not start our trip on a snowy day and instead offered to extend our stay or even refund if the weather doesn't get better. We are glad the weather cleared up and we were able to make the travel. She was diligent to all of our needs and helped us feel at home during the stay.
